  • love the music good job

  • Im not all that into horses but man seeing that video really moved me. There was something very special about that horse, music, commentary. epic!

  • @scarred4eternity - Amen!

  • They need to stop using performance enhancing drugs. Secretariet didn't have any drugs in his system his huge heart was what helped him win.But he loved to run. He wanted to run,and I think he always knew that Sham was his greatest threat which is why he was determined to win the Belmont on his own terms. Ronnie just sat there and never touched him with a whip. he just let him run .Sec was gonna show Sham that he was the better horse and he did. He beat his ass.

  • @hawk8414 - To sum up just how great Secretariat really was I'll close by saying: "Secretariat was so good that blind people came out to the track to "hear" him race!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Dannykeith46 Danny I'll be honest with you. if the damn trainers and the owners would stop using the steroids and just go back to the plain old basics of hard work and taking the horse along slowly instead of running them to death and then by the time they are 3 yrs old, hell they're no good for anything anymore. People, it seems to me, have become so greedy that they just churn out horse like a puppy mill these days. And they really need to stop inbreeding from such a small gene pool.

  • @hawk8414 Secretariat was on illegal Steriods according to Andrew Beyer!

  • @TTBOYFORPRESIDENT - What are you talking about??? Another undocumented statement from an "anti-Secretariat" loser! Show me Beyer's definitive statement that SEC was on steroids. He NEVER made that statement, and in fact, Beyer was one of Secretariat's greatest followers and fans, giving him a 139 Belmont Stakes speed rating. Unfound statements like yours are typical of the ultra-jealous horse fan who can't stand Secretariat's irrefutable standing as "KING OF ALL HORSES"!

  • @Dannykeith46 I went to school with Andrew Beyer at Harvard and he told me many times that Secretariat was a Steriods product.Andy also told everyone that no son of Bold Rular could go 1 1/2 in 2:24 without chemical enhancement so stick that in your crack pipe and smoke it!

  • @TTBOYFORPRESIDENT - You went to scholl with Andy Beyer at Harvard...right....and if my aunt had balls she would be my uncle!!! Go back into the coma you were obviously born in dipshit!

  • @Dannykeith46 Andy Beyer lives in Potomac,Maryland about a half hour from where I reside fucknuts...I know his wife very well and I doubt that you ever saw Secretariat even run.Why dont you stop masturbating in your mothers basement to your favorite movie Brokeback Mountain and go by yourself a hundred dollar whore?

  • @TTBOYFORPRESIDENT - I saw Secretariat run virtually EVERY race including HALF of them in person because my father was huge horse player. I doubt you even graduated from high school asshole. By the way, since you know his wife so well, I guess the next thing you'll say is that she will be bearing your offspring...what a line of shit!!!!

  • @Dannykeith46 I just spoke to a mutual friend of Andy Beyer and Myself Maury Wolfe who is a horse racing economist with a Masters degree in economics from Yale and Maury says that Secretariat was on Steriods no question about it!Maury also said that Secretariat lost 5 races during his 21 race career even though he was illegaly doped which is really a freakin shame wahahahhahahaha......you and Secretariat =worthless wastes of Bold Rulars jism!

  • @TTBOYFORPRESIDENT - Interesting, just had a great conversation with Jesus Christ who informed me Secretariat was NOT on steroids!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Dannykeith46 Secretariat lost 5 times in 20 starts wahahahhahahaha!!!!What a piece of shit!! wahahahahahaha and his crippled pathetic wheelchair basketball playing jockey Ronnie Turcotte who couldnt even jerk you off with his bare feet!

  • @Dannykeith46 Secretariat lost a MAIDEN RACE WAHAHAHAHHAHA!!!and he also lost 4 more in the next 9 months after that!!!!!!Alan Jerkins beat him TWICE with allowance horses like Onion and Prove Out,and even Secretariats own "rabbit" Prove Out beat him in the 1973 Wood Memorial....Wahahahahhahaaa The great Secretariat must have forgotten to take his Steriods he forgot to pass his own entry mate/rabbit wahahahahahhahahaa PIECE OF SHIT!@!@!Funny how his movie never mentions Prove Out?

  • @TTBOYFORPRESIDENT - In his Maiden race a horse named Quebec crashed into him out of the gate and delayed his start by 1.5 to 2 seconds which equates to 6-8 lengths! He wound up losing by only a 1-1/4 lengths (do the MATH Harvard graduate!). He didn't lose another race that year except for his disqualification. He lost to Prove Out in the Woodward Stakes posting a super 2:26-3/5 time that would have bested almost any horse EVER (expect for Prove Out who had a career day).

  • @Dannykeith46 Zenyatta had zero speed, always lagged behind, always was carried wide and NEVER LOST except her final race by a desperate nose...Great racehorses dont need racing luck or make excuses...they just win baby!!!!Secretariat was a looser 5 times out of 20 races which is only 75% (That sucks)!!!!

  • @Dannykeith46 you saw Secretariat loose 5 times than wahahahahahaha what a piece of shit!!! Spectaular Bid won ALL of his 4 year old races and only twice in his entire racing career.Seattle Slew lost only twice.Citation lost three times,Cigar only three times,Smarty Jones lost only once,Zenyatta lost ONLY ONCE,Affirmed lost only 4 times and he ran against Allydar.Even Sham only lost 4 times and that was by a half length in the Derby/Preakness without illegal steriods!

  • @TTBOYFORPRESIDENT - OHHHHHHH...now I see what this is about....you like a handful of other horses and can't admit they are inferior to SEC so like MANY others, you utilize the "stroid" angle" to compensate for your inferior thoroughbreds! At 100%, Secretarat would have CRUSHED all those horses and his record times prove it!

  • @Dannykeith46 why than did Secretariat loose 5 times between July of 1972 and 1973?Big Brown used steriods and only lost once!Even rapid Redux can win 22 in A ROW WITHOUT DAVID WELLS GIVING HIM ILLEGAL STERIODS!

  • @TTBOYFORPRESIDENT - This is why you and other LOSERS have to use the steroid angle. EVERYTHING you throw at me I can refute including why Secretariat lost, his STILL standing record times, etc. He did things NO OTHER horse EVER accomplished on a race track so you need to put him down with absolute bullshit/false steroids accusations. Go find your friends wife and have some fun...you are TOTALLY out of your league in this discussion. I have FACTS...you have NOTHING!

  • @Dannykeith46 Secretariat lost 5 times in less than a year...Michael Jordan went to 6 championships final and won all six!!!Wayne Gretsky went to the finals 5 times and won all five.Bill Russell won 11 straight championships yet Secretariat lost 5 times to grade three types Onion,Prove Out,Angle Lite and Shecky Greene.

  • @Dannykeith46 I bet even Ronnie Turcotte has a better sex life than you do wahahahahaha!Allen Jerkins thought that Ronnie Turcotte was over rated and too stupid to jump off his horse in 1978 at Belmont park which is why he is a crippled member of Jerrys kids just like you Mr Dannyweed.

  • @TTBOYFORPRESIDENT - You are one sick person and need serious mental attention. I pity you and your pathetic existence which amounts to nothing more than human garbage!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @TTBOYFORPRESIDENT - P.S. - Big talk behind your laptop. Maybe one day you will come out from behind your cover and I will absolutely kick your $%$#$@# sorry ass all over the place!

  • @Dannykeith46 you sound like a man with a short dick sindrome who needs to use a dead horse to live his fantasy life for him.Did your mommy not let you suck on her tits enough when you were a fat little baby?

  • @petermacket - Another asshole lives. Obviously, like you human garbage friend you should noyt waste time posting anymore of your sophmore high school crap and take a long 50 year nap!

  • @TTBOYFORPRESIDENT - You are an absolute idiot....Spectacular Bid lost 4 times, Affirmed 7 times, Slew 3 times and Sham 6 or 7 times. Thank you for confirming your lunacy and stupidity (a real Harvard graduate would post facts). SEC was ill twice when he lost and one of his loses he WON THE RACE but was disqualified. In another loss he posted an incredible 2:26-3/5 time for 1-1/2 miles in the mud which would have bested all of those horses! Go back to sleep!

  • @TTBOYFORPRESIDENT - SEcondly, if you "really" have read Beyers comments regarding Secretariat over the past 38 years, you would fully understand he absolutely worshiped SEC and considered him the pinnacle horse of all-time. Interesting commenst for someone who thought SEC was on Steroids! If you DID graduate from Harvard, unfortunatley they inadvertantly forgot to teach you some integrity and humility! Go back to sleep!

  • @Dannykeith46 If I wanted any Lip from you Dannyboy,I would have scrapped it off of my scrotum.Didnt your parents ever tell you how impolite it is to type when your mouth is full?

  • @TTBOYFORPRESIDENT - NO Harvard graduate that would speak like that loser....where dd you really get your degree...in a bubble gum machine!

  • @Dannykeith46 I did graduate from Harvard jerkoff,Andy Beyer actualy dropped out during his freshman year. What do you do for a living besides fantasize and live vicareously about a dead racehorse that you never even wagered on?

  • @TTBOYFORPRESIDENT - Last, but not least...if you "really" followed Andy Beyer's work/writing, you would have seen a countless number of incredible complimentary statements made towards Secretariat including the FINEST speed ratings EVER assigned to any thoroughbred. Now why would Beyer assign those pinnacle ratings to a horse he thought was influenced by steroids??? I am now going back to the Ravens/Texans game rather than watse any more time with your worthless comnents!

  • @Dannykeith46 go watch the ravens with their worthless quaterback,Joe Flacco who will never win a Super Bowl because he is a choking cocksucker just like you are Mr Dannyweed.Maybe when the Ravens play New England next week and get torched 52-14 like Tim Tebow did yesterday you can come back to this site and put up a better defense of the Steriod champion of 1972-73 Secretariat.

  • @TTBOYFORPRESIDENT - Who in God's name said I was a Ravens fan? You are seriously one of the biggest assholes who ever posted on youtube. Since you know Beyer's wife so well, why don't you go find her right now have her stroke your one inch stick! SECRETARIAT IS KING and would have failed the post-race saliva tests had he been on steroids. Also, once you take steroids and stop, your muscles suffer severe atrophy so his heart would have never been that large when he died!

  • they panned the camera to find second horse... enough said, except the greatest moment in sports...

  • Every time I see this video I can hear in my head Sham wheezing and gasping and straining, and Red going "doopdeedolala" and listening to circus music. Zero effort on his part.

  • Great music. Sounds like the same music from the movie "Rudy", where at the end Rudy makes his historic tackle. Secretariat, Rudy, Chuck Norris.............All great inspirations to humanity. Although Chuck was great, Secretariat had something magical about him..............He's truly the inspiration of all inspirations, even above that of Chuck Norris. Never thought I'd say that, but it's true. Secretariat brings tears to my eyes every time I watch him race. Chuck has not brought on the tears.

  • isnt this clip from the movie?

  • @fruitychees no thats the real deal the real horse and the most amazing race ever run by any horse. to this day the most dominating performace in any sproting event that i have ever seen

  • @fruitychees The music is. It's from Rudy.

  • Don't even think of removing the background music...it's AWESOME and absolutely awe-inspiring!

  • Please take out the backround music. I would like to see the original video as it was.

  • i'm such a sap for this perfect gift from heaven!!

  • Ruffian is the best of all she did what he couldn't do and placed to of his records

and man o war is horse of the century period!

  • @johnofohu123 - First & foremost, learn how to put together a standard English sentence. Secondly, anyone who knows anything about racing knows that Ruffian's best mile+ times can't compare to Secretariat so I don't know what the hell you are talking about! Regarding Man o' War vs. Secretariat, its an arguable debate with either horse staking a serious claim to "the greatest ever" title.

  • @Dannykeith46 Well Ruffian beat 2 of his records and idc about man o war as much but he is horse of the century look it up not wiki and Ruffian did what secretariat couldn't do so just take your ass back to where you belong

  • @johnofohu123 - What are you talking about.....Ruffian didn't beat ANY of Sec's records because Sec's records are ALL 1 mile or greater distances and Ruffian's best mile+ times are ALL inferior to Sec's BEST times. Ruffian has faster 5-1/2 & 6 furlong times which mean NOTHING in REAL horse racing! Please don't speak to something you know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about.....look up the times & then crawl back into your hole!!!!

  • @Dannykeith46 Ruffian did beat two records of his she ran 6 different distances from 5.5 furlongs to a mile and a half and she placed over secretariats record in that even his own trainer said she could be better and she was it's sad tho cause she didn't get to run in the hopeful and her trainer said she would of been perfect for it and won by 20 lenghs and sadly shes gone because of the match race

  • @johnofohu123 LOL dont worry about this idiot! they are just too much of a secretariat fan to see sence, i was having a "creative" discussion with this person on another video, so much of a secretariat fan, they forget i dont care how much they love the horse, people say that Ruffian is the best and people say that Secretariat is the best, Ruffian loped along in her 1 1/2mile race with a finishing time of 2:27.80 and how many colts can match that time these days? or even her mile? not mannnny =D

  • @RuffianQueenOfRacing - Fighting other people's battles now! I try and restore peace with my last post but I guess I just can't win with a complete fool! You call me too much of a Sec fan & have the audacity to put 4 fillies on a top 10 greatest horse list!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ANYONE who know anything abut race horsing would laugh you right out of any sensible discussion. This is NOT about SEC, but about an obvious women's lib fanatic who is stupid enough to list Genuine Risk over Secretariat!

  • @Dannykeith46 of course i will help fight a friends battle =D

  • @RuffianQueenOfRacing - Now there are "2" women's lib idiots!

  • @RuffianQueenOfRacing - Did you ever think that maybe Ruffian snapped her leg because she couldn't handle the stress of racing side by side against a REAL horse instead of those pathetic fillies she beat. I BELIEVE it was the pigeons who disrupted her stride. However, many people wonder if she was too frustrated because she couldn't pull away from Foolish Pleasure, placing too much stress on her legs? PS. - SEC "looped along" to a 2:24 1-1/2 mile so your 2:27.8 time is worthless!!!!!!!

  • @RuffianQueenOfRacing - NO...YOU and a "FEW OTHERS" say Ruffian was the best. For every senseless one of you there are "at least" 100 that stand by Scretariat so what are you talking about. I have NEVER seen a professional top 10 list with Ruffian at the top except for maybe in a women's lib forum which is where you belong. Bill Nack was racing analyst "genius" who "loved" Ruffian and place her #13...what does that tell you! PS. SEC "looped along" to a 2:24 1-1/2 mile time!!!!!!!!

  • @RuffianQueenOfRacing - NO...YOU and a "FEW OTHERS" say Ruffian was the best. For every senseless one of you there are "at least" 100 that stand by Scretariat so what are you talking about. • @Dannykeith46 really he "looped along" wow! very talented if he looped in loops =P

  • @RuffianQueenOfRacing - And his 2:24 time BLASTS Ruffians 2:27.8!!! Just to prove the Belmont Stakes wasn't a fluke, Sec's 2 other 1-1/2 mile times are 2:24.8 and 2:26.3, far superior to an Ruffian's "OK" 2:27.8 time. One more question for you genius...why didn't Whiteley run Ruffian in the "REAL" Triple Crown against colts....figure it out...because he KNEW she wasn't ready to compete against top colt 3 year old's a 1-3/16+ mile distances. You see, I give FACTS...you speak to emotion!

  • @RIXLAZZZ Well then your dumb plus phar laps isn't a american horse thats sad how you need to learn more before saying whos the best cause i know all the best and seen the best .

  • Comment removed

  • @RIXLAZZZ - Secretariat at "peak value" would best ANY horse who EVER graced the planet! His times certainly prove it, especially considering Turcott hand rode him through most of his track/world record times. Non-American's always complain that Americans place too much emphasis on times, but that is a "crock" beacuse what else can you possibly measure a "race" with? Problem is NONE of your European/Australian horses could EVER best SEC with each horse at their best...sorry....truth hurts!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @RIXLAZZZ - Absolutely incorrect my friend! Check out all of the North American WORLD RECORD times for distances OVER 1 mile. 9 out of the 10 distances between 1 & 2 miles were posted on TURF! Less than a mile is more of a coin toss and partly favors sand/dirt surfaces (3-Turf; 5-Dirt). This makes sense because the longer the race, the greater the strain on the horse to continue grasping an "insecure" dirt/sand surface. Low cut turf is a more consistent/secure surface. Best Regards!

  • Comment removed

  • @RIXLAZZZ - Nice try but "NO CIGAR"! An unparalleled 22 lb heart, massive girth and hind legs as well as nearly 1,200 lbs of sheer muscle does ALL of the talking for Secretariat!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @RIXLAZZZ - Shergar??? You are joking aren't you...Secretariat and a dozen other horses (at least!) would have blasted him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @RIXLAZZZ - then shut your mouth and POST Shergar's record times my friend. You speak to emotion...I speak to statistical facts. SEC set ALL 3 TC time records which covers over 140 years, 420 races and nearly 4,000 horses! World Record 1-1/2 dirt mile & only 1/5 second off 1-1/8 mile Word Record which he owned for quite some time! How can you possibly compare ANYTHING to those unfathomable statistics? Once again, SEC has records to speak to and you offer NOTHING but emotional "BS"!

  • Comment removed

  • @RIXLAZZZ - Oh well...its obvious you are just another European race horse enthusiast who can't stand the fact of just how great Secretariat really was! Whether SEC is the greatest horse is not the issue because I admit that such a claim may never be able to be quantified with facts! However, your zeal blinds you to the truth regarding Secretariat's incredible stature and his supernatural like performances (e.g. who runs a 1-1/4 mile race with each quarter mile faster than the previous one)?

  • @RIXLAZZZ - Furthermore, if a European horse ever held all 3 of your TC records, he would not only be considered the greatest horse ever, but you guys would place him at a level with someone who could feed the multitude with 2 loaves of bread and 3 fish!!! This whole conversation is ridiculous because like other European enthusiasts, you are SOOOOOOO jealous of SEC's awesome accomplishments, you will resort to almost anything to dismiss his supernatural ability...wake up from your coma!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @RIXLAZZZ - 1-1/2 dirt mile - 2:24 - WORLD RECORD; 1-1/2 turf mile - 2:24-4/5 - Belmont Record; 1 mile - 1:33-2/5 - Aqueduck Record; 1-1/8 mile - 1:45-2/5 - Previous WORLD RECORD - broken by only 1/5 of a second many years later. Note that SEC also "galluped" in that race to an amazing 1:57-4/5 seconds 1-1/4 mile time (12-3/5 - 1/8 gallup!) which is also a dirt track WORLD RECORD. 1-1/4 mile Kentucky Derby 1:59-2/5 - track record; 1-3/16 mile 1:53-2/5 - Preakness Record...anything else mate!!!

  • @RIXLAZZZ - As the "final nail in the coffin", in 1973 Secretariat ran TWO 1-1/2 mile races EIGHT DAYS APART - one on dirt and the other on TURF!!! His dirt time was 2:26-3/5 second IN THE RAIN SOAKED MUD which is an awesome time for a fast dry track. 8 days later he sets a track record for 1-1/2 miles on his FIRST TURF RUN EVER with a remarable 2:24-4/5 in the Man o' War stakes. Find me ONE other horse who ran two 1-1/2 mile races 8 days apart & posted world class times - YOU WON'T!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @RIXLAZZZ - On Santa Anita's synthetic turf track "asshole" which is considered one of the top 2 or 3 fastest tracks in the WORLD (3 WORLD RECORDS between 1 & 2miles have been recorded on this track). The iconic horse speed analyst Andy Beyer stated synthetic turf increase speeds up to 10% over dirt and estimated that if Secretariat ran at Santa Anita on June 9, 1973 he would have ran his 2:24 in approx. 2:21-3/5 to 2:22. Beyer IS regarded as the premier speed analyst in horse racing history!

  • @RIXLAZZZ - Also, regardless of turf or dirt...don't you get the FACT that NO SINGLE HORSE owns several distance time records. What sets SEC apart from ALL THE OTHERS is that he is VERY CLOSE to MANY of the major distance records (1 mile, 1-1/8, 1-1/4, 1-1/2, 1-5/8, etc) as well as owing a few. NO OTHER HORSE COMES CLOSE to being near the best times for various distances. You & your European/Aussie counterparts know this, but simply put, due to your hatred of America, hate to admit it "mate"!

  • @RIXLAZZZ - One minor mistake to my pervious post - Andy Beyer stated synthetic turf can increase dirt track speeds between 2 & 3%, NOT 10%. This justifies his 2:21-3/5 to 2:22 projection for Secretariat if he ran his Belmont on synthetic turf rather than dirt. Also, in my previous posts, I CLEARLY STATED Secretariat owned the DIRT 1-1/2 mile record (I was well aware of Hawkster's 2:22-4/5 Santa Anita turf time!). P.S.-Don't compare a horse who ran 8 races to Secretariat - it's embarrassing!

  • Fun fact : Secretariat was left-hoofed :P

  • awesome horse race but lose the music, hard to listen to what the race announcer is saying.

  • @airlesstuber - I beg to differ! The "Rudy Theme" is the most inspirational sports music I have ever heard and NO SPORTS MOMENT could ever be more inspirational than Sec's supernatural performance in the belmont Stakes....KEPP THE MUSIC...ITS PERFECT!!!

  • gran rojo.. uno de los mejores caballos de carreras de la hostoria vi la pelicula, y me intereso la historia .. realmente sorprendente la carrera

  • I just watched the Secretariat movie, awesome !!! That horse is racing machine !!! great movie and also great biography story - LEGEND !!

  • I want to thank burlm47 for putting this together...this was just as good if not better than the movie.

  • youve never heard of man O'war you idiot? he's won all his races but 1 how do you feel now?

  • The Belmont was just a workout for him. He ran fractions faster in workouts. Hard telling how fast he really was if he had a horse fast enought to make a race of it for the 1 1/2 mile for him.

  • There is no "PERHAPS".

  • Big Red was a magnificent animal ! I do not think we will ever see another one like him. His records at all of the triple crown races still stand and once again I think will never be broken! His performance at the Belmont stakes in my opinion is absolutely inspiring and the greatest athletic performance I have ever seen from man or animal (he actually ran faster ever 1/4). I wish I could have seen him before he passed on.

  • Greatest racehorse.. EVER!!(: ♥

  • back then they knew how to really breed horses. Nowadays it's no substance, just style. bad feet, bad legs by the time they're three yrs old and then you wonder why they can't win a triple crown anymore.

  • I cry every time I watch this. Now that was the horse that God built.

  • i'll say this, people say Jordan, or Ruth are the greatest athletes of all time, much less their sport, etc. Nothing, and no one, has ever dominated quite so soundly as Secretariat. If horses were ever considered the athletes they should be, there wouldn't be any kind of debate

  • The scary thing is that Sham (poor Sham) was going full out to keep up and Red was taking it easy until the stretch, and even then was barely broken out in the circle. About as close to perfection in sports that will ever be seen.

  • Great Horse, No horse would have met his pace :)

  • TRUE!!!! But if you where sole owner who would you want: Secretariat or Northern Dancer?

  • @1diomedes I would take Secrtetariat. Its not only the sire that brings out good horses. Secretariat would have never got his big heart if it wasn't for his mommy. It did not come from Bold Ruler. Maybe they didn't send the better mares to him than they did Northern Dancer.

  • @rscarbro100 Great points. Can not argue against you. But I would love to see a one mile one turn race with Norther Dancer against anybody. After all, the Dancer was stretching out in the triple crown races! Riva Ridge was another great racehorse.

  • @1diomedes My friend, Northern Dance was a very fast horse but honestly, when a horse like Secretariat who overran his Marlboro Cup race pulling up at the 1 1/4 pole in 1:57 4/5 on a track described by SI Whitney as not so fast track in the article 'They made pigeons of the Field' And with only 4 workouts in a short 2 wks. not yet in peak form tend me to believe not even ND could have been a match for him. He hit the mile mark in 1:33 flat not out of the chute.Take a minute & try to grasp that.

  • @1diomedes When he was yet a 2 yrs. old on March 14, 1973 he ran a 3/8 mile workout in 33 2/5 seconds. A WR at the time and one of those quarters was done in 21 1/5 seconds. Thats only 2/5 off the world record. With Turcotte standing in the stirrups he pulled up the 1/2 mile in 44 4/5 seconds. He could get out fast if he could get hold of the track. I believe many just do not realize what this horse was capable off. Chales Hatton once said Laurin never could get to the bottom of him.

  • @rscarbro100 He lost 5 times in less than a year and you say he's the greatest ever. I think your nuts.

  • @2121421214 You the damm nut buddy. He lost 2 races as a 2 yr. old and one of those was a disqualification and if you can see watch his first race and tell me dumby why he lost. Lost 3 races as a 3 yr. old. If you don't know the reason why you don't know shit about horse racing little johnnycomelately.

  • @2121421214 - You shouldn't be speaking to a subject you obviously know NOTHING about. 1 of his losses he was ridiculously disqualified after finishing 1st (Champagne Stakes). His 1st race he lost because he was mauled at the gate. When he lost to ProveOut, he ran a 2:26-3/5 mile and a half time in the MUD at Belmont w/ProveOut running an amazing 2:25-4/5. His other 2 loses he was unquestionably ill. Man o'War & Ruffian were scratched from stakes races when they were ill...enough said!!!

  • @Dannykeith46 You got any more excuses. He got beat by better horses. The LIBERAL NO NOTHING MEADIA MADE HIM A SUPER HORSE because of the WAR and he lost 5 races in 16 months. He lost 5 races in 16 months. He couldn't warm up horses like Dr. Fager ,General Duke or Zenyatta. ALL of his record times were made by rolling the tracks two days before ALL HIS RACES. You are the type of people that believe GM is going to sell a VOLT. Your nuts.

  • @2121421214 - You an an absolute idiot and obviously clueless when it comes to race horsing. "They rolled the tracks"....are you kidding me. Let me ask you something then: what happened to the other horses and their times or were they racig on different tracks, especially in the Belmont? Zenyatta....you are joking right? Her times are so far behind Secretariat it is not even worth mentioning her name! Do some research before you continue making a complete fool of yourself!!!!

  • @2121421214 - Did you ever watch the Preakness and see Secretariat pass 5 horses, "3 Wide", on a very sharp clubhouse turn in a manner of seconds!. Racing experts virtually all agree that that sudden move was one of the most amazing speed bursts EVER in thoroughbred racing history. Furthermore, iconic racing analysts Charles Hatton & Hollinsworth (both saw Man o' War) and Eddie Arcaro (who rode Citation & Kelso!) all insist SEC was the greatest ever but I guess you know more than they do!!!!!

  • @2121421214 - One final note: Sec ran a 2:26-3/5 time for the 1-1/2 mile Woodward Stakes IN THE MUD in one of his losses (Prove Out had the day of his life and ran an amazing 2:25-4/5 time)...did they "roll the MUD"? SEC ran a remarkable 2:24-4/5 time in the Man o' War TURF stakes setting a track record for his FIRST turf race....did they "roll the GRASS"? ALL 3 TC records cover over 400 races & 3,000+ horses...what does that tell you...wake up & smell the coffee or continue living in a coma!

  • @2121421214 You remind us all of village idiots I know who look at the record at the Derby, the Preakness and the Belmont and say things like "he was lucky". the records still stand 38 years later. The mark of greatness is in how the performances stand the test of time. Secretariats time in the Belmont shattered the previous record by 2 and 3/5 seconds and no one since then has challenged either the time or the margin of victory. Also, most of Secretariats wins he was stretching the lead.

  • @1diomedes As you know Andy Beyer was the architect of the Beyer speed figure. He estimated the Derby track when ND ran his race was 1 full second faster than when Secretariat ran his. Beyer was asked after the Derby what time did he figure Big Red would run the Preakness. He quitely said 1:53 2/5. As you know as well DRF private clockers clocked him at that time after the teletimer mishap.

  • @rscarbro100 - Safe to say, NO HORSE EVER had the SHORT SPRINTING & LONG DISTANCE SPEED balance of Secretariat which is why "perhaps" is an absolute insult to Sec. He is the irrefutable greatest equine phenom to ever grace this planet and his short & long distance times prove it. I can only laugh at his disqualifiers who state that times really don't matter.....what else is there to consistently utilize? At peak value, the true measure of a sports icon, he stands alone at the top!!!

  • @1diomedes - Northern Dancer truly great but not in Sec's class...who is? To think that Sec OWNS ALL 3 TC race records after some 140 years (w/hisPreakness time tied by 2 horses) seems IMPOSSIBLE considering that spans approx. 400+ races and over 3,000 horses. How can a SINGLE HORSE own ALL 3 records...are you kidding me? Best of all, increasing his 5 "1/4 mile" Kentucky Derby fraction speed times right to the finish line may be his ultimate "godly like" accomplishment!!!

  • @rscarbro100 bold ruler is such a beautiful horse.once you see him, u'll love him

  • The reason why secretariat could run sooo fast was because his heart was 21 pounds! And the regular size of a horses heart is 6 pounds. THUMBS UP IF YOU LOVE SECRETARIAT!!

  • @wynbrook4eva Thats interesting. Phar lap, the great Australian horse also had a much larger heart than normal.

  • I THINK THAT I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR 30,000 OF THESE VIEWS!! I HAVE WATCHED A MILLION VIDEOS ON YOU TUBE,AND THIS IS HANDS DOWN THE BEST..THE EDITING OF THE MUSIC TO COINCIDE WITH THE ACTUAL VIDEO IS FUCKING AMAZING!!

  • @myjoeyd I'm responsible for about 20,000 views. I'll never forget that afternoon, glued to the TV hoping for a Triple Crown winner. I'd seen so many horses win the first 2 and then blow the Belmont. The further ahead Big Red got, the higher I jumped. The greatest moment in sports!

  • amazing every time I watch this I get the chills

  • Give em his reigns and let em run...If there was another 1/mile, he woulda kept going. Hang on Ron..hang on, right now, Secretariat is in control...

  • just an opinion danny.arcaro also claimed kelso was the greatest.secretariat was a great horse thats for sure.we all have our own personal choices.i like john henry,dr fager, ruffian, buckpasser.love big red, actually saw him.what a sight!magnificent to look at.still,i rank man o war as the best.count fleet is very underrated.he had a triple crown run equally as great as secretariat.citation was 27 of 29 before injury.arcaro also rode him to that loss against saggy.i am a secretariat fan too!

  • big red was something to see but man o war was the greatest ever, citation, count fleet and secretariat in that order.he was almost the perfect horse physically.1972 and 73 were some great years for horse racing.

  • @sampson1959 - Sorry, but when Citation's OWN jockey, Eddie Arcaro says Secretariat was the greatest ever, I think that says something....CITATION'S OWN JOCKEY admits Secretariat was the better horse...case closed!

  • @Dannykeith46 So true Danny, I believe I would take Arcaro's word!

  • take off that stupid music and let us listen to the announcer. btw- thanks for posting.

  • @WhitePoetWarlord - sorry to disagree but the music makes the video. The "Rudy" theme, arguably, is the most inspirational sports music ever composed, and I can't think of a more fitting event to apply it to. Just a spectacular job to the owner of this You Tube video!!!!

  • whoever put a thumb's down for this video should be shot in the kneecaps then after letting them bleed for 5 minutes be shot in the head.

  • @EdgarDampburn lol, that's because they don't have anything in their own stable to match this and they know it, lol!

  • wow i was defantly born at the wrong time. i wish i could have been alive to see that but my dad wasw only three when he ran :(

  • theres no perhaps big red was the fastest horse alive in the world in that period of time and i think even now he was the biggest and the fastest one.

  • This lovely video (with the Rudy music) captures the majesty of my all time favorite race horse, Secretariat. The "just running in the pasture" portion is wonderful. I never gamble, but regularly hold Triple Crown parties. I do love to watch these beautiful horses run. THANK YOU FOR POSTING!

  • People simply have no clue when saying X horse was better than Big Red. In 36 years 2 of he legs of the Triple Crown times still stand as a record. 36 years later. That shows you just how great this horse was. Times don't change. Again 36 years. Simply amazing to me Big Red was that far ahead back then and today:P

  • @as435943 - Right on! And please don't forget Secretariat still owns an "unofficial" share of the Preakness Stakes record with 3 other horses at 1:53-2/5 seconds due to the official clock malfunctioning. 2 Racing Form analysts clocked Sec at exactly 1:53-2/5 seconds which still stands as the official "Racing form" time. So, in reality, Sec owns ALL 3 records (including a share of the Preakness) which is absolutely unfathomable!!!

  • Secretariat was simply the greatest horse ever.

  • Zenyatta's stalking tactics never would have worked against Secretariat. If she got 20 lengths behind Secretariat, that's basically where she would have stayed. She was only chasing down Blame, and while I still think the jockey was at fault for the loss, Blame was no Secretariat.

  • @MelC54 - Great point! ANY horse 20 lengths behind Secretariat would need a rocket launcher to catch up!

  • @MelC54 - Great point. ANY horse 20 lengths behind Secretariat would need a rocket launcher to catch up!

  • I honestly don't think we'll see another horse like Secretariat again. The same can be said for the great speed skater Eric Heiden. He even thinks his 5 golds in all 5 distances will ever be broken either.

  • would have been great to see this horse against the machine "Shergar" - undoubtedly the greatest European racehorse ever.

  • Wiki lists Ruffian at 133 and 4 in the Acorn. The video shows 1:34 and 2, although she appears to be running well within herself.

  • In any event, I DO say again, Ruffian was the greatest filly EVER and was a true freak of nature, both physically and mentally. I don't know about you, but I watched her final race and will not watch it on youtube. Once was enough.

  • please people can we not fight over who is the greatest and who is not!?

to me, Secretariat is the greatest male racehorse of all time, and queen of the track RUFFIAN is the greatest female racehorse of all time.

but if we are going to compare greats, lets not forget about Jorrocks, The Iron Gelding or Kincsem the most successfull, or Camarero 56 consecutive victories, no horse has ever dont that, kincsem won 54 in 54!

many horses are great, lets not be biased and say that only one is great!

  • Of the 4 biggies of the 70's, Seattle Slew did prove to be by far the best at stud, with Secretariat second, Affirmed third and Spectacular Bid pretty much a dud. Secretariat has proven to be an excellent broodmare sire with his grandsons AP Indy (a son of Seattle Slew), Storm Cat (a son of Storm Bird, and Gone West (a son of Mr.Prospector) carrying on Secretariat's blood.

  • You can "scratch" the word perhaps from the title of this video.

  • notice Sec not even being asked, when he separates...

  • In my opinion there is absolutely no doubt-but some will say Man O War, some might even say War Admiral-others might offer Affirmed but Secretariat is the Best ever-The perhaps is just covering my butt

  • @burlm47 seabiscuit was pretty tough

  • @burlm47 Not at all....you're 100% correct....the greatest race horse ever...once in a lifetime horse and

we'll never see his equal again.

  • perhaps?? how the hell can you title it perhaps?

  • THANK YOU FOR THE POST! ... YOU HAVE PUT TOGETHER SOME EXTRA FOOTAGE THAT TRULY SHOWS HIS GREAT PHYISICAL APEARANCE!! I TOOK A HELECOPTOR TO HIS "HOME STABLES IN ABOUT 1980___ IT WAS A THRILL!! BE WELL AND ALL ENJOY

    DON

  • @the Animehorse......ummm I just wonder where you live in the universe... only stallions race? How do you explain Zenyatta for starters? I wish that people would show some intelligence before posting in these public forums...

And for the record Secretariat was NOT a Stallion when the raced .. he was a COLT, he became a STALLION when he turned 5 years old as do ALL uncastrated male horses.... just to clarify that for those of you that don't know much about horses and horse-racing......

  • I saw the movie, it sooo good he would have been neat to watch fer real :))) & it's truly amazing!!

  • !!!!AMAZING!!!!

  • Yeah, the red´s!! Secretariat and Phar Lap!!

    In Love

  • The Greatest! So smooth, like liquid gold!

  • "Perharps the Greatest" needs to be changed to THE GREATEST!!! Consider that "Sec" holds all three TC time records (including a tie for the Preakness with "Sec's" REAL time standing at 1:53-2/5 seconds). What few people also realize is that when Secretariat set the 1-1/8 mile record in the Marlboro Cup, he "GALLUPED" to an unofficial 1-1/4 mile in 1:57-4/5 seconds which would tie Spectacular Bid's world record for that distance on dirt...AFTER A 1/8 mile GALLUP...absolutely unfathomable!!!

  • To: ClubPenguinMovies123

Maybe this will help you: consider that when horses breaks time records they typically knock off only 1/5 to 3/5 seconds off the record. How about Secretariat breaking the Belmont stakes recork by an earth shattering 2-3/5 seconds with his 2:24 time!!! If that doesn't help consider that a 31 length win means approximately 75 - 80 yards or 3/4 of a football field!!! To run a mile and a half at that pace was virtually impossible..unless your name was Secretariat!!!

  • Im new to this and I want to know why he/she was an "impossible" horse. Im confused. Please reply!

  • @ClubPenguinMovies123 Secratariat was a stallion only stallions race. and they call him a impossible horse because what he did was thought impossible and it it! unless your secratariat!

  • @TheAnimehorse

    See above comment about Zenyatta....

  • @TheAnimehorse

    See above comment re: Zenyatta

  • @ClubPenguinMovies123 IMPOSSIBLE, MEANING ITS BEYOND IMAGINATION AND REALITY TO WHAT SECRETARIAT ACCOMPLISHED!!! IT WAS UTTERLY IMPOSSIBLE,BUT WAS STILL ACCOMPLISHED
