  • Let me tell you bout the birds and the bees and the flowers and the trees and the p's and the q's.

  • On this date in 1965 {Jan. 23rd} 'The Birds and the Bees' entered the Billboard's Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at No. 3 and spent 14 total weeks in the Top 100... It was one of the only two records by Jewel Akens to make the Top 100; the other being 'Georie Porgie' {reaching #68, also in 1965}

  • love this :-)

  • @staymakulit i am 21 why do u ask

  • this is 47 year old and song butstill a good one of the best every played

  • I was blessed enough to actually be invited to Jewels home in LA for back yard picnics a couple of years in a row. We would jam out some tunes and eat some greasy picnic food....now those were good times!!! And the fried chicken and ribs were enough to give you a heart attack just looking at them. LOL

  • Good to place the face against the song for this one-hit wonder from the 60s ... Wayne

  • Gosh How Old is it?

  • I love this era when we could understanding what they sung about and the songs had a meaning.

  • It went like this. Let me tell you about the birds and the bees and the flower and the trees and the moon up above "son let me tell you about love"

  • finalllly found it! haha my grade 5 teacher use to sing all the time.

  • Cool song.

  • was that already the time were everybody sang playback?

  • @MrPilleMcCoy Yeah, the mic is just a decoration.

  • Such a cheerful song ^^ Great voice, great 'old sound', great music.

  • such a cool song!!

  • My boys are 8 &12yrs. old and they love the oldies:)

  • Love this song, it tells it like it is. "a guy and a girl", all about what is natural.

  • @TitaniumByFire Good for you my friend :D

  • I was fortunate enough to be playing piano in a band called The Reuven Kall Show in the late 1970's and we backed Jewel Akens. Jewel was also singing with the Coaster's who we also backed.

Later.... Jewel chose me to play keyboard on a single he was recording.

I was only 19 years old then. Jewel was a true professional in the studio to work with and a great entertainer and person in general on stage... It was an honor to work with him!

  • Vintage classic. I love oldies. Although I was a kid in the 80's and a 90's teenager, was exposed to a lot of oldies from radio stations, from LP's left over by older people, and movies that played oldies and also The Wonder Years TV show that played a lot of hit 50's and 60's oldies.

  • He never told me anything about the birds and the bee's =S

  • It's a funny thing.

As an Australian kid, 30 years ago, and enjoying 50's and 60's stuff, I had a stereotypical expectation of what the American singers looked like. Blame the "Happy Days" sort of presentation of that era. I thought these songs were done by 'white' high school students with a big 'H' or 'S' on their colourful jackets. I only ever heard the songs, I never saw the artists.

Sam Cooke, the Dixie Cups, etc. Now I'm familiar with their faces.

This reminded me of the jolt. Thankyou.

  • we sang this in health during the sex unit haha

  • I was about five years old when this came out. I didn't know until I was 50 that he was black....the funny thing is that I never even gave it any thought as to what his racial background was. The song is just so cute that you don't have to categorize it.

Sort of takes the pressures of race off so that you just worry about his great song. (If that makes any sense.) And I for one like that.

  • @ekocentric Yes.

  • with the birds and the bee's

  • Dont you just love the sixties music, Super Classics!

  • i hear "Shindigger" no nigger...

  • @budbass19 LOL sure does sound suspect now doesn't it?
