  • Most songs do go good with southern comfort, Jimmy (jk). The slide whistle, kazoo, or whatever it is makes it sound like someone took a Monkees song and threw in a touch of Os Mutantes. By the way, I mean that in a good way.

  • amazing coincidence that Jean Genie and this track have the same riff!! Especially when you consider that David Bowie was on the same label at the same time in 1968!!

And all these years I thought he had borrowed it from The Sweet (Blockbuster!!) - who were also on the same label as David in 1972-3 (RCA).!!!

  • @kenscott Don't you mean that their other single that I uploaded, "Girl of Independent Means", is the one that has the same riff as Jean Genie?

  • Well, wow, I like this!

  • Great song. I personally prefer The N'betweens (later to become Slade) version.

  • Is that theremin I'm hearing?

  • that's a kazoo

  • you mean the slide whistle?

  • Did you hear the one about the firefly who flew into the electric fan backwards. He was delighted as well!!!

  • Love hearing the great 60s tunes that never made to this side of the pond. Nice presentations!

  • I never thought I would hear this again,great.

Used to listen to it on Radio Luxemburg under the sheets on my small transistor radio.
