  • I can see it right now...its gonna be VIRUS CITY!!! I can bet there is gonna be updates everyday....lol!

  • How is Visual Studio 11? Ohh, and can you program native languages in it(C,C++ or C#,VisualBasic?)

  • much faster than ios and android can ever be. 2012 year for windows return

  • You know how all these future tech videos have software on every table, wall and phone and they are all the same? They are all simple as well.

Windows is going there, a simple UI that has all the features and is universal. This is the future.

  • i wouldn't call this UI... More like absence of UI..

  • hw much it gonna cosh ... and can it play regular pc game ? and wer to get the pc game ?

  • So basically all W8 tablets are gonna have the entire "desktop version" of the Windows 8 OS? Not just a mobile version like Windows Phone 7 or something right?

  • Dis gonna be legend !

  • Comment removed

  • Old Zune + Win 7 = Windows 8.

  • Can the screen rotate?? And btw it rocks

  • @96566820625 Yup

  • they should release that tablet for sale

  • I was shocked until 6:35 when the original UI popped back. :X

  • seems well thought out, and I admire microsoft for taking this lunge. I'm just not quite sure how well this will be received. Not to mention, windows is the leading OS for businesses, and I'm not sure how business owners using computers would feel about this interface.

  • Yeah Windows 8 tablets look a hell of a lot more useful than iPads and Android tablets... I using my Xoom right now and I can already tell you it's slow and lacks a lot of these features.

  • iOS > Windows 8 > Android

  • windows 8 developer preview does have also speach recognition..Imagine you command voice recognition on tablet haha.cool isnt it? i love windows.

  • oh shit, apple gonna sue them for having this kinda home button LOL

  • So can i install Java+Eclipse and do my programming on this tablet ???

  • Can't wait until I can get a tablet that you actually can use instead of a laptop. A android tablet just doesn't cut it

  • Mm looks like the hp ;)

And the hp is much much better then the samsung shity's

  • Go microsoft go !!! Displaying two apps at the same time is cool, now if hardware companies can make a solid tablet design for it that doesn't feel like cheap plastic and doesnt overheat I would buy it, if Microsoft can get a solid tablet out it can compete with apple. Android is good but their OS is not polished, and updating is a pain.I hope this year we see some great tablets so we have more to choose from not some tablets that good on paper but have all sort of software n hardware issues.

  • I personally think that Microsoft may have shot themselves in the foot here. They essentially just killed off desktops and laptops with a single OS upgrade. There is no easy way to navigate the new Start menu with a mouse. We don't need this full-screen start menu! Apple has it down almost perfectly. Desktops and tablets need different operating systems. My only gripe is how limited the iPad is.

Also, does anybody else hate the black box that is the new Start button?

  • @tlehmann1996 huh? It still has the W7 build + start menu. It's just not it's primary function.

  • @XxRAINISM When you click the start button you are now thrown into the Metro interface. That is not what I want to see on my laptop or desktop when I hit the start button. Microsoft's excuse is that programs can now be easily pinned to the taskbar, but there is no easy way to search for files without opening the Metro interface and clicking the search button.

  • @tlehmann1996 Just learn to use it and, quick being lazy it. If you don't like it don't buy it.

  • HTC saysthe iphone isn't cool anymore

  • Shut up and take my money, Microsoft!!!!

  • ipads 23$ OMG RUN AND BUT 10

  • Apple sure will cry if Windows Tablet back on shelve btw once Windows Tablet on sale I can play my Cafe World FB ^_^

  • This looks awesome! This is how I'll experience Windows.

  • when is this out

  • love that OS cant wait to get a win 8 tablet

  • Nice review..

  • This definetly is the Netbook, notebook and ultrabook killer! If you have a cordless keyboard/mouse you don't need a notebook.

  • Well windows 8 is definetly an android killer for sure.

  • Comment removed

  • I have it on my Dell XPS desktop

  • @HopelessWizzard I think it'll be thicker than an ipad 2, it would have to be atleast the thickness of a usb and hdmi port. I think if it is too thin then we would be getting rid of some of the selling points of it. Have you compared the specs of a normal laptop with an ultrabook? If I had the money, I'd just buy a normal laptop, or just buy parts for a pc and make one which would be amazing but cheaper than an ultrabook.

  • This is a real tablet. This is what tablets should have been like. This will kill the iPad hype. Thank you Microsoft. I do like Apple still though.

  • this looks promising, I love the UI. I hope the background is changeable though, solid colours are lame

  • OMG I'LL BE SELLING MY IPAD WHEN THIS COMES OUT

  • @HopelessWizzard I mean coming out as Windows 8...I mean if I just bought this tablet but updated it to windows 8 then some of the specs would be a little outdated whereas if they bought out a new version of it (the mach 2 for instance) then it may have some new stuff on it like blue tooth and a better quality camera on the back and front, and maybe even a holodeck!!

  • Ipad killer

  • @VaibhavPatil192 Yea, it's an everything killer. The only thing is price point... The current Samsung Slate is $1200... I'll pay that much for one, b/c I'll get it instead of a new ultrabook. But people shopping for tablets may still go the Android/iOS route.

We've yet to see how it actually runs on an ARM based machine.

  • It's too wide.

  • I think windows 8 might be the appledroid killer

  • Okay.....so when do we expect these windows 8 tablets to be released? Because I love em!!!!

  • @Aphizzle15 This fall!

  • This is better than Android.

  • It's really unfortunate that this tablet isn't coming out because I really think it looks good. Reminds me of how the sony ericcson K750i used to be like, just the right size and it has everything you want on it. I want this tablet to come out, with a good battery life...10 hours at the very least. I'm definitely going to get one when it comes out. Hopefully the tablet will have good connectivity with windows phone 7 :)

  • @TemperatureIndicator I'm okay with this one not coming out. I'm hoping for something a little be sleeker and sexier in time for the Win 8 launch. And like you said, better battery life... although I'd be happy with 8+ hrs on an i5 powered device.

  • @PuppyProwd I'm all for sleeker as long as it still has the same functionality. It has to rival an ipad (a product I loathe to death due to the inefficiency of it).

  • Jonah Hill is reviewing this tablet. FTW

  • @JulkerReviews I was wondering. Sounds just like him!

  • Looks cool!!! I dig the metro style UI,I just hope that good old windows desktop is still gonna be there and simple to use, W7 is fantastic and IMO, metro should supplement it......either way if you don't like metro I 'm pretty sure that someone out there will hack windoes so that it can be turned off :)

  • I am just gonna wait for a windows 8 tablet. Fuck Apple and Android.

  • @tyseibert what about Ubuntu?

  • @patricketurner I am a Ubuntu user, but it will be a while until a good Ubuntu Tablet is made. Remember all tablets will be locked, so Windows and Android are the bombs. Sorry, Android is the open-source choice, otherwise ur screwed.

  • @tyseibert I like Android and WIndows. Apple is just shit. Are you with me?

  • @kikicreamify I would stress that you should do more research before carelessly attempting to troll my comments. Windows 8 will run on both ARM and x86 , these will both be available in tablet form. Whilst you're correct that ARM devices will only run these new metro apps and not legacy programs, there will be x86 tablets available which will enable me to use older programs.

I'd also argue that it is short sighted to believe that these older programs won't see the light of day in metro form.

  • from my view, nokia would probably launch a tablet soon running windows 8 but if apple attempt to sue, it will be nokia+microsoft vs apple

  • I hope windows 8 rolls out fast, i need a new laptop pseudo tablet thingy for my lecture.

  • I think this just kicked iPad's ass.. I was going to buy the iPad 3 when it comes out BUT this seems better.. I just hope its not more expensive than an iPad lol

  • Wow now that's what I am talking about. Android and iOS bye bye; it was nice knowing you.

  • no wacom pen ???

  • @NLdefqon There is... it's just not part of this product. That is for specific. Look at the Asus Eee.... That is a standard part of the hardware for that particular device. Windows 8 is more versatile and than any other platform on the planet! And very fast too I might add. I get better performance on two cores of my rig now using half the ram with Windows 8 in a virtual environment on top of my Win 7 than I do out of the OS I am running it on top of Full Blown!! :)

  • i love that there making an echo system where everything looks the same!! The UI for windows 8 is on Xbox, WP7 and now soon computers. its a great idea!

  • Wow! It seems that finally fully usable Win-Tablets are coming out next...

Hope they make most of them with Wacom and PLEASE some with REPLACEABLE batteries!!!

As long they are not out, Im still fine with my ST5112 Slate, which is doing a great job so far!

Waiting for a Tablet like the shown Samsung to replace it because of finger-touch and higher resolution for displaying more content and UI elements for sculpting&drawing.

And to complete it: Windows8 seems to be a master-piece! Well done!

  • i have used windows 8 on my laptop for couple of weeks and i like it .. its just that it was beta version and thus gives in a lot of crashes otherwise it was great and i really didnt mind the windows 7 style attached with it .. infact it helps you to work on on a same device when otherwise you run out of options on your on the go devices and run back to your laptop or desktop to solve it.

  • @contextraders

How were you able to use it with a keyboard and mouse? I've never tried the device yet, so I'm asking out of curiosity. It just seems really inconvenient.

  • @asianoutcast87

it wasn't inconvinent though partially useless as most of application as of now work on windows 7 enviorment which you can go by clicking the desktop tab on home screen but i hope they able to find a way to chaneelise rest of applications programs to run on windows 8 so it can become indespensible.

  • Wow this looks amazing! I cant wait for this to come out

  • @DonLeo17

If you listen to the video he says this is a dev tablet and it's never going to come out for us the public. It's basically their prototype for develepers to mess around with.

  • @cMARVEL360 oh yeah i got that i just meant for these windows 8 tablets to come out, not that one in particular.

  • I'm gonna rush to buy this. Already have a WP7 so this is gonna be great.

  • wow that's hot

  • When this starts coming standard on new PC's and Laptops, Apple are going to gain a lot more customers.

  • It's nice to see someone actually merging their mobile OS and Desktop OS.

  • Windows 8 belongs on a tablet not on a pc.

  • any concern regarding apps can be addressed by how Microsoft deals with developers....making it easy for people to develope and distribute apps can fill a market very quickly....

  • that is so freaking gorgeous _

  • @twiittter I agree!

  • 1 BIG problem for this platform is the amount of apps optimized and avaible for this tablet which is really low compared to android and iOS

  • Wicked tablet , I'm so getting it!

  • Excellent video.

  • I want one

  • Good start. The only thing I am worried about is the size and battery life. Only time will tell.

  • @nuku666 yeah battery life is going to suck with regular x86/64 cpus and those systems need alot of ram too which sucks much power again. I'm sure there will be ARM tablets with win8 but there's the questions for apps^^

So you can choose between sucky battery life with many regular windows apps (if they are optimized for touch input!) or good battery life but no apps. iOS and Android already have good battery life tablets and many apps...

So imho win8 will face a similar fate like windows phone.

  • People also aren't understanding that unlike an iPad, just as simply as someone could download free programs onto their windows 7 computer they can do the same with their Windows 8 computer unlike being limited to a freakin App store, which means lots and lots and lots of FREE tablet applications. the iPad is cool but i would rather not be limited.

  • just a alot of ugly squares.

i prefer the ipad 2 but theres not point to compare this thing with an ipad 2 because this tablet is in another level because its too advance , in my opinion theres not point comparing this tablet with ipad 2 , blackberry playbook , samsung galaxy tab , motorola xoom

  • Nice, now that we have the software, we just need the devs to develop a tablet as thin and as light as the ipad 2.

Of course id rather have Windows 8 over IOS 5, but I sure as hell aint lugging around a 2lb tablet...

  • If touch screens were already the common standard, we'd be wowed the speed, precision, and user-friendliness of new tactile input peripherals, and the Mouse would get invented as the ultimate gaming controller. In particular we'd be impressed at how these new peripherals allowed one to use a computer without obscuring the display with your hands.

tablets have an undeniable charm though.

  • there's a difference between apps and programs you know... not everything is an app!!! >:-( get the terminology right!!!

  • apple and linux got owned imo

  • @EdTheBedHead96 the sad thing is that people will want the i pad still because its apple, even though this is desktop speed

  • A fucking tablet with a core i5 now were talking none of this A5 apple snapdragon texas instruments cell phone quality cpu shit

  • @ConvenientCow Sandy Bridge 1.6Ghz Core i5, now that is extreme overkill for a tablet. Grapics i'm guesing is Intel HD2000. This stuff shames Tegra2 and even thumps ZiiLabs. A5 is not even in the same league. Add ontop the Windows 8 UI. I think we have a winner here.

  • @Neojhun not overkill tablets were originally laptop specs until ipad and roid tablets there are pc spec tablets and there are cell phone spec tablet this tablet is designed the same way an ultrabook is just without keyboard but agreed, lok if they put a 3.0GHz core i7 quad core with a gtx 580m chip in then thats overkill lol crysis or bf3 on a tablet! lol

  • @ConvenientCow My company has 3 old Pentium M HP convertibles which we basicaly a laptop with a touchscreen. They were far from what a tablet is today. Today tablets is all about efficientcy and easy of use, those we're terrible because of the PC form factor. This has the same pc pwer, but powering a form factor made to be light. So yes overkill.

  • @Neojhun well i agree sort of

  • @Neojhun Yeah you will have a superior tablet for 1h then the battery is dead. Most important factor for me: Tablets have to be portable (light and thin) and last long. That kind of hardware wasnt designed to do that.

  • @ConvenientCow Lmao hell yea you tell them!

  • 3:42 "That's me!" ... well you sure don't look anything like your picture.

  • i bet Angry birds is gonna be in their store when it becomes available lol

  • no cd reader??

  • @DiogoBailao is a tablet have you seen one with optical disc unit? anyway, this is windows, install an emulator, have an iso and there you have it ;)

  • where are the usb ports??

  • Are you going to have to buy a antivirus program like norton ?

  • I Think Windows Tablets Need More Memory.

  • how do u right click?

  • @RagingTeaBaggins Just like on the Window Phone, you just tap and hold down on the file/item until the drop-down menu shows up.

  • @Justin32137 oh lol i have a wp7 n i didnt think of dat thx

  • @RagingTeaBaggins touch and hold for 1 second and when u release right click menu...

  • The desktop is an app... so will there be other "desktop" apps avaible on the MS appstore? This would be cool, being able to develop or choose your own desktop.

Even if not, what ive seen is enogh to make me excited.

  • i will certainly ditch traditional win ui for metro ui

  • The desktop part of it is gross :/

  • I'm a Apple kid, I love Apple and always will, but I'm curious about this one , also the Xoom ! :)

  • great review,, hes really into it,,, just like us... ;) im waiting for this one instead it looks like it has the best operating software,,,> beats android n os....

  • The best review, thanks for sharing.

  • most previous wacom displays have an awful screen grain. Hopefully youre familiar enough with it to recognize it. Do you notice any grain on the screen?

  • is it possible for me to get a developers tablet? and if sow, how?

  • @ninjafishy77 if you wanted a Win8 tablet. You had to go to a technology convention called BUILD. Furthermore you have to be a developer and they're only giving away 5000 free tablets for developers.

  • i am buying this tablet (windows 7) when it comes out in the fall, how is the cooling system? my current laptop can get pretty hot at times

  • It's cool that you literally just made a video of the future.

  • I hate it. I like the old classic layout, like XP,Vista, and 7.

This is just so unnecessary. I can't think about looking for anything anymore like icons by swiping shit.

Thank god they give you the option to keep the fucking desktop.

This is just so... Like I said. It's all so unnecessary.

    ---

Edit : My internet is shit. 768 KB/S max.

So WHAT THE FUCK. ,Nothing will be smooth

    But that's me.

  • @weespat

lol :') where in my comment did you read.it looks like an android or an ipad?

    no where.

so why are you even thinking i said something that equals to your response?

  • How you haver this tablet?

  • I love my iPad two, and I'm a big fan of Apple but I can see this going great places!!

  • Can definitely see myself buying a top of the line tablet with a dock and replacing my aging laptop with that. Docking my tablet and connecting a kb/m when I need to work and then using it as a tablet for any other time. I'm really excited by this!

  • @braydee1989 Apparently you are a consumer who just buys without knowing the facts. I assume at "work" you run traditional software programs. Windows 8 Tablet will run on "ARM" processors not x86 processors. This means your software programs like Office and Adobe won't run. Windows 8 ARM tablets will only run "Apps." If you want to run traditional software programs you will need a Windows 8 PC running on a x86 processor.

  • my ipad 2 looks stupid now

  • THIS IS IT!!!!!! The Tablet Ive been waiting for !!!!!

  • where would you buy this?

  • i love it holy shit

  • it's cool for tablet and touchscreen users..but they left the classic windows desktop virtually unchanged, wich sucks.they could have worked to the classic dektop to make new apllications for it,or new ways to interact with it.for example that wheater app would look nice on the classic dektop, minimized to the left of the screen, with live animation, instead of the old gadgets.maybe they will include some animations for them in the future

  • @cretulicabz

They actually changed the classic UI in Windows 8 - Minor changes, but changes none-the-less. They didn't incorporate the full desktop UI yet, though. This is just the Windows Developer Preview - Note: Preview XD

  • Price these for around 400 to 600 with quad core and options to customize and you got a hot selling product.

  • WAY TO GO MICROSOFT you slowly coming back... i am an android fan but this is the BEST tablet experience ive have ever seen!!!

  • Multiple user logins?

  • cool

  • Looks good i like the nieuwe metro style

  • Microsoft going to take the market back

  • they´re after my lucky "charms?"

  • you sound like Bruno Mars

  • Looks very powerful ! Smooth operations

  • This is superb and beautiful....and runs very smoothly

  • God. It looks like Windows is going revolutionize OS scene again? I LOVED what i saw here.

  • Is flash supported in ie 10th browser?

  • @celze20 Of course, this is not Apple.

  • @Freka699

remember: iOS is for games and social shit

and Windows is for GAMES and for WORK and for EVERYTHING ELSE

    LOL

  • i want [2]

  • I like the app approach to the desktop UI, makes the whole thing easier to use.

  • i want.

  • Thanks for the video! And,.. Bravo MS,,

  • im gonna buy ths fking tablet.. looks awsome.. lol

  • I wonder how good this will work with keyboard and mouse.

  • I'm pretty sure full screen app thingy was Microsoft's idea :P Microsoft probably came out first but never announced until now.

  • @kyokeun seems to happen all too often with Microsoft, finally innovation is beginning to germinate again

  • oh. so i wonder who jobs wil suing next... oh wait. its not a killer. so no worrys.

this thing looks even more as an ipad than the galaxy tab 10.1.....

  • @andybruintje

Tell me, exactly how does this look anything like Android, or the iPad?

You do realize that they have been working on this new "Metro UI" since before the fiarst iPad came out... right?

Android has huge similarities to iOS, and there will be *some* similarities to the iPad that Windows 8 has. But the main features that Windows 8 has, that the iPad will never have is that it won't suck hard ass like the iPad.

  • I don't really like the Tiles UI but this setup of a tablet docked to a dock that has a mouse, keyboard, ethernet port, audio port attached is definitely the future.

Basically the tablet is the future... you come home done it, it turns into a PC, then later when you're going to bed for example and want to read something undock it take it with you.

Even smartphones might become like that, you'd just need a monitor attached to a dock.

The future looks miniature, connected and unified.
