@commentfan1211 Ian can't sing? Listen to All Across the Sands. Only morons think he can't sing. Sure, it's not conventional, but do you want a boyband bland bit of Westlife singing or something? Dunce.
@commentfan1211 Listen to All Across The Sands. Enough said. Ian has an excellent voice; it was angelic and beautiful. Perfect for the Roses. You're just a dunce. Go and listen to Nickelback.
The guy at the back (cressa) was there to change the sounds on John squires guitar through his midi effects unit which squire got a lot of his sounds from.
I feel 17 again watching this....from about '88-'90 they WERE the most important band in the world, musically and culturally, but for whatever reason they couldn't follow it up. The Second Coming isn't even worth talking about.
@tomscotland Nothing to lol about. Im sure they used record scratches in some of their songs back. In this song he obviously didnt scrach but maybe he was there to do it in another song they played on this occasion.
@TheBighuf DOUBLE LOL! Scratching? NEVER on a Roses record or performance unless (which I highly doubt) it was at Reading 96, and even then it certainly wasn't Cressa. Clue yourself in mate.
im as thrilled as anyone these guys are having another shot...BUT...my only worry is which John Squire will we get? wizard of sublimely mesmerising, funky and breathtakingly melodic guitar work (1st album) or embarrasing, coke fuelled over indulgent third rate Jimmy Page copycat gobshite (2nd album) which i could NEVER understand...i just wanted to tell him "dood, you are JOHN FUCKING SQUIRE, wtf do you wanna sound like Page?? Try and sound like John Squire, trust me, its good enough!!!"
@neilus Excellent point about Squire's guitar work. It's gonna be interesting to see these events unfold and it's been years since i felt this anxious about music.
Second Coming was an album full of ego and was worlds apart from their first. It's still a million times better than today's music. I think that new music in the last ten years or so has been really fucking dire. It's been tedious, pretentious and depressing, and i hope The Stone Roses provide the antidote it's needed for so long.
@manicbabyshambles123 ian brown never took to coke. yes, he may have tried it, but he hated what it did to Squire and he never misses an opportunity to slam coke-heads at any opportunity.
this is what its all about !!! thank god for tony wilson !!! lets see what the roses reunion comes to ? thank god i was there in the day at spike island !! how many out there can say that ? will ian brown and john squire sort it out !! we shall see ? listen and enjoy !! times have changed but does the vibe still remain? i will get a ticket to watch and judge for myself but sadly i doubt it !! still we shalll see and all you that missed them in the day can make up your own minds !!

is that a young carl pilkington on the mixin desk at the back with the hat on.top band ledgends.lets hope they dont feck it up this time round good luck lads.
@SLAYTANICWERMACHT77 are you serious? Ian Brown is an amazing vocalist, John squire is a god at the guitarist, you try and write a riff as good as fools gold and then try and say that again, mani wrote the best bass line ever, which is she bangs the drums and reni was descibed my pete townshend as 10 keith moons. Do not slag the stone roses. They will rule the world in 2012 again!
The most overrated band ever. Awful vocals, simple repetitive guitar riffs, ok bass although not in the same league as someone like Flea, nice fluid drumming but better than Kieth Moon? On top of all that there is the knobhead bands the spawned(Oasis, The Charlatans, Blur, Shed Seven etc), and they seem to be the Stone Island clad football thug/poseur band of choice.
@SLAYTANICWERMACHT77 Ian Brown can't sing live (mainly after the first album) so you're right in some respects although he's got a very good studio voice. But John Squire is an amazing guitarist - listen to anything off second coming eg love spreads, driving south, begging you etc and bass and drumming are as good as you're ever going to get. Minus Ian Brown you can't really get much more talented individuals
@SLAYTANICWERMACHT77 they werent overrated at all, they were underrated if anything, just look at the history of the band they were a word of mouth band they did it the old way, voted in Q magazine as one of the most important albums in british musical history " the stone roses" , if you know anything about music then the most popular songs in musical history are based around simple chord structures i.e " anarchy in the uk" sexpistols, however the stone roses`s stuff was well written.
@SLAYTANICWERMACHT77 well written music, great melodies, musicianship its timeless why do you think people are still talking about them 22 years after this? seems like you need to do a bit of research on popular british music history......
@jpj1997 Ha ha does look like him,That's Cressa used to apply effects and dance, when I saw the Rose's at De Montfort Hall in Leicester in '95 he was manning the merchandise stall, should have got him to sign me Second Coming T-shirt, Brilliant gig, Ian's voice was note perfect and It's probably the most bootlegged live album they ever did because of it.

Get him to watch the "Reni Hacienda" clip on youtube search, or some of the Blackpool Live clips like Elephant Stone or She Bangs the Drums, Shoot You Down etc. Then he might get it. It would also probably help his drumming!

It's the absolute best extant clip of the Stone Roses.I used to have this on a bootleg VHS and it was great then and it's even better now.Reni is the bollox on this, but all four are at the peak of their powers.Mintos.
