  • @ The Germans, Breadth versus depth--the value of deep understanding is much higher than a shallow understanding of topics that branch out of this--a deep understanding of the root topic will allow you better understanding of the branching topics, regardless. This is how we've done it in our education system for hundreds of years, no matter the topic.

  • @MnwaNix

Sorry, but an American has no right to talk bad about the education of a German. America has one of the worst educations in the Western world. You are well behind on languages, math, geography,.. pretty much everything

  • "We must proof extrem difficult things and have many more stuff to learn." -slatz20, German

English, apparently, isn't part of the "superior" German education in languages.

  • i just noticed that prof strang had been wearing the same thing all throughout the 31 lectures ...

  • it's really because he wants this lecture to be accessible to a large audience. if you are an advanced students it will appear that he belabors on obvious stuffs.

  • Is this somekind of Kindergarten-Algebra? Here in Germany we must learn so many more things about Linear Algebra. We must proof extrem difficult things and have many more stuff to learn. But these lectures are great.

  • all these take 25 lectures huh... how many weeks would that be for his students at MIT? They can all be easily learned in just a few days with his linear algebra textbook

  • He writes perpendicular on the wall at 1:40. I lolled.

  • Thank you so much for these great lectures!
