If you choose to rhyme consciously-iraq war,music(art) vs. commerce,truth,reality,life to name a few-you will be able to fulfill the true purpose of Hip Hop(note the capitalizations). Personally, i prefer that you rhyme like the underground because these are true MCs and they're genaerally smarter than the bastards on the radio because they usually rap about current events. But in the end its all up to you.
