@mokuchley Hi, I tried other keyboards (Motif XS, M3, Fantom X), but their sounds just don't do the same thing. The Kurzweil Pc3 just plays SO WELL, responds so well. It's a joy to play. I haven't done much programming, only some setups, and it does the job very well for me. Yeah, small screen, specific structure (I think you mean programming). It's the sounds and how they play, it's in its own class. Pianos, Strings, Choirs and orchestral sounds are top notch, and most of all, a joy to play! :)
I recommend checking some more videos and demos. This is the older KB3 mode. There has been updates, but still, the Nord Electro 2 is probably very good with organs. Anyway, try it :).
I saw demo "[NAMM Show 2009] YoungChang to demo its piano 'Kurzweil PC3". Really, hammond sound there little better. I think for workstation it's norm!
From this and other PC3 videos the organ sounds very good to me, better than other workstations anyway. Yes, clones have a better emulations but this is an all around board and one other thing to consider is the price tag.
Yes it does, it is the 3rd button from the left labeled "chorus/vibrato". The leslie sim is also there, and as far as I understand, it is toggled by a button or with the pedal (which is more convenient).
Any Hammond clone organ sounds much better than Kurzweil's KB3 organ. Listen to the Nord C1 or the new Nord Electro 3 and you know what I mean. Having said that the PC3 rules at piano, e-piano, orchestral, synth and so on. But forget about the KB3 mode...
it's pretty damn close...but they can always tweak this and improve it in software as the KB3 is modeled and not sampled...so Kurzweil can keep improving the modeling and release updates. For instance they're already working on the leslie simulation parts and refining that.
Im not trying to rain on anyones parade... but i tried the PC3x under phones, at a store.. which is a good way of trying something at first close to your ears... frankly I just dont hear it in the piano's... i have S90es Yammy.... and got if for 2000 bucks.... why would i pay 4k in canada with tax.... for a lesser sounding piano????? .... Kurzweil never quite got it.. now go listen to the Garritan AUTHOURIZED STEINWAY AND SONS software... and tell me..... what think you now. smile
Well, I guess it's also a matter of taste, some like Kurz some don't. And well, of course there's a lot of other things beside the pianos ;) comparing to the S90ES.
It's definately a matter of personal taste. IMO, the S90es pianos are decent, but not as dynamic or inspiring as Kurzweil's. I tend to like Yamaha's samnples better than Korg's or Roland's, but to my ears (and fingers), the Kurz is on a whole other level.
what you dont hear in the pianos are you serious! s90es is ok but kurzweil pc3x kills it in the pianos. go watch the video that says front panel overview you can clearly hear the dynamics on the piano.
Well, I have not used it for midi yet, but it IS a controller keyboard too, a designed for it, so yeah. It should be no problem to use it as a master keyboard. I just haven't tried that yet. It has both normal midi and midi over USB.
I've used it with Reaper now. Works just fine :). I think there might be some custom files to configure all the sliders and stuff but I've haven't tried that. I'm using the midi-over-usb.
Definetly worth the purchase. You can edit the voices very thorougly. The pianos are very good, though in the first OS version there was a more dynamic piano, which I'd like to get back. Anyhow, best piano soundss I've played.

This did not touch a dilettante. Not play can not, nor is aware of the instrument. This is a professional musical instruments, beats many competitors

Man that's a terrible organ sound. My $150 Casio is much better than that.

Hi, does the KB3 mode have a chorus/vibrato button? Or does it just have the leslie sim?

It's sounds amazing. Is it easy to use the K PC3x with a daw, for example Logic Pro 8 ?
And to use it as a keyboard for the software sounds is that possible?

Great sounds man... thanks for the presentation. In the KB3 mode, like in the other, you´re able to tweak your own sounds too, aren´t you?
Later!
thomasbarcelos 3 years ago
Sure, you can tweak them like other sounds. They're actually analog modelling, so they're actually sinewaves and stuff. But in short: yes.

LOL! Yes, that was it. I just wacthed the movie Iron Man. Comment deleted. I almost knew how to play it. I don't know why I typed Smoke on the Water.

The youtube audio quality isn't nearly enough to have all the clunks and stuff which actually comes out of the these organs.
