L168 Peckoltia Pulcher / Dekeyseria Brachyura

Mine l 168 loves caves cause he only comes out at night I think. But now he turned dark (the white stripes are black now too) cause he is always in the shade. But if I clean my whole tank and I need to clean the cave. He comes in the light for 10/15 mins. Then he just turn to white with black stripes again. But I almost only see him when cleaning :(. But here is a question:

Is it good that I have a cave in my aquarium or should I remove it?
