I like what you guys are doing, but its funny how you call it Koryu Uchinadi when most of the techniques you do bare little or no resemblance to original Okinawan style training. Just be honest and call it MMA. I'm not sure if any of the living Okinawan Masters like Morio Higaonna or Takayoshi Nagamine would agree that it's real Koryu Uchinadi (despite friendly ties with Patrick McCarthy).
Totally missing grace. They need to slow their moves to half speed and give a lot more emphasis on the technique. And then with time speed will come :)
That would be ti, not toudi, From my understanding, by the time Toudi was used, the primary influence was China. McCarthy has made the claim that siamese boxing influenced ti, but I have not been able to verify that through other research. Do you know of any other sources.
does any body know what they are doing at 00:57 sec? it reminds me of chi sao but I know it's not. I've seen many other karate people do that before, espeacially in Goju. If any body knows reply back or email me on youtube. thanks.
I agree but isn't it a little irresponsible to show such advanced technique in the public domain? All that hard training and getting sweaty when all you really need to do is BAM with a remote knock-out. They'll put us all out of business!!
haha ;-)
Seriously, though, nice hard stuff, guys. I enjoyed the video!
Therefore I am so happy I now found you ... I know you had to put the first 4 min there, because people tend to get hooked by the physical action ...(as all the superficial responses show) however, I see you have mastered the "real stuff" (the last 30 seconds) as well and this is what makes you special for me. I would be so happy, if I could spend the rest of my life learning this excellent skill from you. Thank you master!
Thank you master, I am again deeply touched by your wisom and mastery of the art ... I am not able to respond with similar deep insights, but this one is about the best I can do and I hope it will help you to get an impresion of where on the learning way I am looking for some one to show me the enxt step ... Here we go:
I would be very proud to be one of your victims your energy must be quite an experience ... I am really looking forward to that demo, when I am coming at you with everything I have ... (which is not too much anyway... ) :-)
See you in two weeks at your seminar, trying to follow your footsteps ...
I was looking for a master of your quality all my life. The only one comparable to your expertise is Master Chen Chin Chun living on a secret mountain in China, very sad, that I cannot go there very often ...
thank you... yes they definitely are a great workout and in my opinion different to barbells. my bjj teacher here in germany introduced them to me at first.
whats withthe hip thing ?

Thai boxing has always been in Karate.... arts from old Siam were a major contributor to Toudi Jutsu, the early version of karate.

hi,
its called kakie. and it is some kind of a sensitivity drill to get more fluence into the movements.

I think this may be "kakie", a drill that the goju folks do.
thankful2one 2 years ago
@mywingchunsucks
It's kakie' or "pushing hands".
Used (I believe) to simulate very close quarter combat, what to do if involved in that situation, and how to get out of it.

In fact, if you study the hand positions thoroughly, you'll see that it's not just any remote knockout technique, but in fact a real life hadouken!

well my son,
you have learned the first lesson "humbleness".
but we have to find out if you are worth being taught by such a real master (as you mentioned) like me. we will see...
here is your second lesson:
Don't count your chicken before they are hatched.
Dripping hollows out rock.
When the cat's away the mice will play...
