Personally I feel that now she dosen't sing to her full potential...in Oceanborn she sang as far as her voice could carry....which is beautiful! Nightwish knows how to work her voice now I don't get that feeling when she sings solo....

@TheLegendOfZelda100 Well in Oceanborn she has a beautiful voice, I think the music overall was just great in that album. But since going solo it really sounds like she is more free. I think she really pushed herself to sing in a lower range where you can hear it isn't comfortable for her. Either way I agree she sounds great all the time.

@Gallandriana Yes I agree in your idea as a solo artist she can decide now what she wants or desire in order how she wants to sing and present her music. But come on you got to admit Tarja+Nightwish were just beautiful. But I guess you can't be in the same band forever and you have to move on and stuff. I love her both ways. Tarja can be awsoume as a solo artist and Nightwish can prosper without her as they already have.

She's always been the real deal - This isn't Milli Vanilli! I can understand that maybe it wouldn't be as perfect as the recording, but I have no doubt of her ability to hit those notes. If she can do it at the age of 31, she must have made it look easy in her 20s....

Not really, back then she wasn't nearly as good technically as she is now... besides, now her voice sounds free, back then she used to... how can I say it.... force her voice to be darker and stronger than it really is...

Doing it on studio is one thing, live is much harder

I totally agree with the part about her voice sounding "free" now. I'm glad someone else noticed that as well. Just listen to Nightwish tracks like "Crownless" or any of the HEAVIER, LESS-melodic, straight forward metal tracks that *started* to appear on parts of "Century Child" and made their full presence on "Once". It really seems like the band kept her in a box. Whereas earlier in their career when it was more about the Neo-Classical/Syphonic Metal, her voice soared beautifully on tracks

What he means is Tarja's solo performance of the song. I think it's better than this performance too, because Tarja revamped the song for her solo tour and actually sang the opera part in it.
