Horse racing isn't a cruel sport FYI....you all don't know what horses are thinking...maybe they're like us, and they have big egos because they win a ton of races, and they're talking to each other while they run (in a way). Like that other person said, horses run in herds and they always have. Look at shows like Cavalia, the horse performance. They're training the horses to run in circles, let people stand on them, walk in lines, etc. They love it. So hush.

I love horse racing and show jumping ect but races like the grand national are horrible

Love this, and to everyone who believes this is cruel, it isn't. The horses enjoy it because its their natural instinct to run with a herd, and jockeys cannot use their stick (whip) hard or they get suspensions etc. When I ride I use a stick to get the horse to listen or it would ignore me. I'm not being cruel to it. So do your research before you start claiming it's cruel.

White Thoroughbreds are extremely rare, but I do believe that is a grey leading the pack at 1:14, the horse at 2:45 is also a grey. These are also National Hunt horses and I don't see a whole lot of greys competing in National Hunt, it could be a different strain or bloodline, dunno.

I mean i love the video! I use a crop sometimes but just so tge horse knows i have it. I dont actually whip them all the time. But in this vid it is sad to see the horses fall but then again with so many horses that close together im not surprised. :)

Actually that was mostly steeplchase. Steeplechase horses do not begin their careers and training until age 3 and many races do not permit them to run until they are age 5. They have long careers for racing horses, generally competing until 10 or older. Ninepins won the 1999 Grand National at age 12 Steeplechase horses typically run six to 10 times in a year. The season features no racing in January and February, plus a light summer schedule assuring horses of lengthy vacations.

They don't look to be running free to me. I see riders and bats (whips). Horse racing is a cruel sport. Horses and riders hurt and horses raced too young. The pictures of the horses falling are hurtful to watch. How cruel.

I've seen a lot of cruelty in the horse world, including show jumping and dressage.

A lot of times it's all about people's ego and winning at any cost rather than a true partnership with the horse.

Horses are among the most beautiful and trusting of God's creations and were not created for people to abuse.

Horses are my favorite! They get up and kepp running even when they fall because they have a sense in them that they can't lose, that's what I love about them!
