i think it's like when you are whistling, it is possible to whistle while breating inards, so you can blow the instrument with blowing inwards or outwards, so your breathing isnt affected.

@moewishaw it is the main thing in this instrument. which makes it most typical instrument of punjabi culture.... we had to do lots of practice for this.... n there is no any side effect on our breath... even some doc. advices to whistle it to there patient of dama.... so we will not effect from any breathing problems. :D

a good way to practice is blowing into a cup full of water with a straw and practice breathing through your nose while making bubbles without stopping. its pretty tricky. a tip is to keep a little bit of air in your mouth and blow that out while taking a breath through your nose. get what im saying?
