russian navy is growing wrecked. most ships are soviet old, 260 subs 150 scrapped and 76 in service. sub launched missiles are a mess since the soviet era and with the bulava failing... kirov is expensive to maintain, what else do we have... darn, our only aircraft carrier.

How often does the Russian navy have to fight others with its big ships?

For national defense, Russia has more than enough capability to repel any offense.

As for force projection, that is just a waste of money, especially if you want to make the Russian military as big a spender as the US.

The money is better spent on a small but elite force capable of active defense and rapid deployment and learn from the bankruptcies of the Soviet Union.
