I've got this bulgarian one, and also a russian one Baikal, and baikal is nicer looking, and have been more relable really, both were new I did have One Wolf bullet get stuck in the barrel and Fire blow back on me, it's an Adventure to fire some of the misshaped Wolf ammo! lol

Comparing a glock to your Makarov is as useful as comparing it to an M29 44mag or AR15.

I have a wide range of guns. I'm not brand Loyal. My cheapest gun is my Davis P380, my most expensive gun is my S&W 500.

All of them are fun =)

I just use Glocks for comparisons since it seems to be the "standard" of the industry.

Makarovs are nice, but you can't compare them to a full sized handgun. Its like comparing apples to oranges. Personally I like the Cz82 or PA63 better in that category. All three of which used to be incredibly cheap.

Look at ammoman.com for your ammo needs if you are willing to buy in bulk. 9x19 is fairly cheap there. They also sell 9x18 for your Makarov. Notice the prices, 9x18 surplus has dried up and 9x19 (a superior cartridge) will be cheaper because of mass production.

I was told on Century Arms imported guns the last 2 numbers in the seriel # is the date it was made.

I don't claim nor think I'm a expert on Makarovs. Not trying to make it out to be like I have a rare gun. I just bought it because it was cheap and interesting. Apologize for the confusion sir.

Please visit Makarov forum and give them the date code so they can determine the year it was made. Everyone in the Makarov collectors club wants a 1958 East German Makarov and you caught their attention when you stated 1958 as the year of production.

That rod is indeed a cleaning rod but the tip is for disassembling the gun. You can unhook the spring on the slide catch with that small hook on the cleaning rod if you want to take your Makarov apart.

Yes sir 8 rounds and thats not due to Commiefornia restrictions. They actually come like that =P

The trigger has a lot of creep in double and single action mode. Double action mode is heavy single action is light once you pass the creep.

All I can say is I'm not a good shooter at all but after the first 3 fail shots I do start hitting stuff with it so I guess since I'm no expert the creep doesn't bother me like it does with some people.

I want a M1911. Up here in Canada we're certified before we're allowed to buy handguns, and its a two stage process. Long arms, then handguns. I got my long arms/hunting certs the other part is kinda expensive, but M1911... IMHO the best handgun ever.
