I miss NZ heaps, but I agree with one of the other posters that 3-3.5M was a good number of people, but now that its climbing to 4-5M the country seems to be facing a few extra problems that it never used to have. The great thing about "godzone" is that it is not overpopulated and has so many places untouched be humans. Would be a shame for that to change. I think the govt is overreacting to a few people moving to OZ. I've been overseas for about 4-5 years now but will always move back.

Picking apples is what backpackers do to subsidise their holiday. There are plenty of jobs in many fields. More specifically they're screaming for teachers, tradespeople, IT people and so on. If you are truly interested go to the Immigration NZ website and look up skilled migrants. If you're not skilled or don't have Kiwi relatives, you may have a hard time getting a permit (unless you're Aussie, then you can stay as long as you like). Good luck.

if you love the best motor vehicles in the world, you should live in NZ. A Mercedes 500sl convertible that costs 100 grand in Aussie is about 30 grand in NZ. Picking apples is what backpackers do to subsidise their holiday. There are plenty of jobs in many fields. More specifically they're screaming for teachers, tradespeople, IT people and so on. If you are truly interested go to the Immigration NZ website and look up skilled migrants. If you're not skilled or don't have Kiwi relatives, you may have a hard time getting a permit (unless you're Aussie, then you can stay as long as you like). Good luck.

AOTEAROA(New zealand) is a beautiful place ,but unfortunately the English planted all these white english people (god is there any place on earth these scum haven't colonised and raped) and is overrun with 'em,soon it will be polluted and over-crowded.I'd prefer it if only the native peoples like the Maori lived there,it would be more interesting than to have to see another white face (isn't there enough in europe without more whites invading the pacific.)in such a beautiful place on earth.

They should NEVER promote New Zealand. Tell everyone its a shithole to keep it our little secret. It was way better with 3 million people than 4 and its gonna get worse. Immigration will kill it. Keep population low. I saw a muslim at the supermarket the other day... go to london then try saying immigration doesnt destroy a place!

I think you should be proud that many people think your country is so beautiful that they are willing to pay a fortune to move there. I live on the island of Puerto Rico and I've gotta say I feel proud when I see people that don't even speak the language living here.I wish I could visit NZ but sadly it's too much money, you're so lucky!

I know I am lucky to be from New Zealand. But all I want is for it to stay how it is. All these lakes, rivers, mountains that you see, we do not have to pay to visit, or line up to get to them. All which will change with population growth. Along with more polution, traffic jams etc etc. Why grow bigger?? Its better living conditions and better for environment with less people.

if you love the best motor vehicles in the world, you should live in NZ. A Mercedes 500sl convertible that costs 100 grand in Aussie is about 30 grand in NZ. More Audis and Ferraris per capita in the world! I love it here and have lived in 3 major cities in Aussie and 2 in NZ. Drive 2 hours and relax in a motel for 90 bucks a night with your own hot volcanic thermal pool!

You live in one of the best countries in the world. Nice cool climate, nice people, clean water, clean air, not too much major crime, no war, great culture places with character.

Read between the lines, people. NZ lacks skilled workers. The pay rates aren't great. Talented professionals can earn big money overseas compared to NZ. The dollar is too high, and the education system is in a mess. Interest rates are extreme, and the price of living rises constantly. The home market is beating average wage-earners down. Something has got to give.

I lived in Aussie and moved back to Nz. No nasty insects or snakes and drive a mercedes Benz for the price of a ford falcon. Nice. And head off to hot pools for the weekend. Man, less tax and I love being a kiwi!
