Well good luck in what you do theres nothing wrong with a bit of healthy criticism and you handled it pretty well so keep on keeping on PHIL LYNOTT RIP peace out !
At the time it was RTE that was going to fund it I think, and I understand Philomena had some issues with the script. I hope it will get made one day though, because as you say, he was unique, and certainly one of the reasons I became a pro musician in the first place.
Got to admit in this video you do look like him it was just the vocals that was a bit here and there but he was unique in every sense of the word and thats hard to emulate so its bloody hard work do you reckon this film will be made ? based on MY BOY the book by his mother
Yes - on the Nightlife tour at Derby Technical College - he was a real Gentleman.
Also was asked to go and audition in London for the movie about his life. -but they never got around to making it - and still haven't as far as I'm aware.
@SaintFintansCemetery Well, since I actually met Phil before you were born wise-ass, and later Eric bell, who, after seeing my performance said phil would've probably been looking down and thinking "Jesus I thought I was fucking dead", you'll forgive me for dismissing your comment out of hand, eh? I don't need your condescending, patronising shit. Hidden behind the safety of the anonymity of the internet, everyones a fucking critic.
@stixdowney: Cheers! - The number of true originals in rock you can almost count on one hand - and Philo's certainly one of them! Good luck with your band, and thanx for the kind comments.
just seen ye vid and it made my day..! am in a band myself and sing a couple of lizzy songs so i know how hard it is to emulate the man himself.his vocals and style of singing are so unique.!.thought you looked the part as well fella..!.and if its good enough for eric bell..! and keeps philo's legacy going [HAPPY DAYS]..Nice one.!
@rockerbiff Thanks mate - I'd accept that - I always felt I could do more of the Lynott posing in a song like Rosalie...but it could've been worse - they wanted me to do Whiskey in the jar!
Your humour and wit are staggering, but fair play, you almost managed to construct a coherent sentence. I shall leave your comment up here so the world can see the quality of your repartee.
Thanks 4 your reply Kevin, I was a bit harsh on my crit. It was just the arrangment and those dancers that turned me way off, not your performance. Sorry again Take care buddy.
Yeah - I never understood their desire to surround me with a dance routine - I really wanted my band, but guess it wasn't "TV" enough! They brutally chopped down the song, as you see, but I consider myself lucky, the guy who did Meat Loaf's "Paradise by the dashboard light" had a 7 minute epic cut to under 3!
When they put the dancers on to "interpret' it - I knew how Sting felt when Legs & Co did a routine to the political song "Invisible Sun" dancing around with polystyrene suns and parasols!
I certainly would've preferred a drummer and a couple of guitarists!
With all the bickering and bullshit comments on this video ...I will say something positive.... Dude... Kevin..AWESOME JOB DUDE! I swear I went back in time.
Regarding being the product of hype, I don't see that at all. Someone suggested i should do it, so I did, and the programme producers put me on. If I got through and I don't sound or look like him, clearly the issue is with them, not me! Enjoyed that we both seemed to have "touched a nerve!" Best of luck with your music.
Yeah, okay whatever. How exactly do I look more like him? Just concentrate more? Will I look more like him if I watch more footage of him? Unlikely. I'd refer you to the make up department in that case. You are, of course, entitled to your honest opinion, and that's fine, but if you'll allow me, I'll go with the one Eric Bell told me, as I'm sure even you would consider him a little more qualified to comment.
Aside from (at that time) 25 years as a musician and having seen Lizzy live and had every album from day one, what "bit of research" would you suggest?
The trouble with doing this kind of show is that for every person with the balls to get up and do it, there's a hundred armchair Simon Cowell's who think they know better. Not being funny mate.

You could always try you macho pillock, but you'd look pretty stupid trying to spit with no teeth. Have a nice day.
Kevin, you are a lucky guy to have got to dress up as Phil Lynott and sing 'The Boys are Back in Town' on tv. What on earth is with the dancers though?
Dude... I'm pretty sure its pronounced Lin-ot. I prefer Line-ot, I think it sounds cooler, and I'm pretty sure both ways are accepted. The fact that it is an Irish name sways me towards Lin-ot though. Just listen to interviews with Phil or his band mates, interviewers say Lin-ot to his face, especially Irish interviewers, and he doesn't say anything.

Rebbanimi, I dont have any other SITE stuff, unfortunately. Lee won the final of my series, I was in the TV audience and hung out with John (Marty Pellow) and the gang from my show at the after show party
Two years ago in late November, I asked for all twelve of the episodes from the 1996 series of Stars in their Eyes but the man who sent me them warned me that once he did, that was it. He now gets annoyed when I ask him for any more episodes so how can I get the 1995 series episodes of Stars in their Eyes from Saturday the 6th of May 1995 to Saturday the 1st of July 1995 (minus that year's final)?
Since the show, Ive worked with John Finch (Marti Pellow) and Maxine Barrie (Shirley Bassey). In addition, Nick Mc cullough (Neil Diamond)and Jack Danson (Rod Stewart) Ive also worked with and they're good friends.

Hey Kev!! For a few years now, there has been talk of a movie based on the book Phil's mom wrote about him. I understand Gary Dourdan from CSI will play him, but man they could sure use you for the live scenes!!
You may not believe this, but I was contacted not long after the show through Lisa L'anson's programme on Radio 1, with a view to auditioning for the movie. It was shelved at the time, then I heard from the casting agency again in London a year or two later, and it looked like it was going ahead, with Holly Hunter as Phils Mum, but still it never got off the ground. Lets hope it finally gets made!
Cheers, Uneverything, yeah, they just love to have those dancers, dont they? I remember The Police song "Invisible Sun" which is about northern ireland being played on TOTP; They couldnt appear so the in-house dancers pranced around to it with cardboard suns and swimsuits on.....it beggared belief!
Hey Kev, I'm a HUUUUUUUUUUUGE Thin Lizzy fan, and I think that wasn't bad! (Not a big fan of the dancers, and I reckon the show should've put a live band just behind you, it'd look more in place.) Apart from the minor criticisms - which aren't anything to do with your singing or performance, well done!
Appreciate it Chuck2nd, and I agree, it did phase me a bit when they sent me down to pineapple dance studios to rehearse with these guys! A band wouldve nailed it, but these T.V. types just dont get it, do they?
I think This is a great tribute, forget about the dancers too homo for rock and roll but. ..the bass player did a great job, in fact I will copy his lines ... Phil Lynott 4 ever!!!
Kevin,I guess what urks me the most is the way the words and phrases are pronounced if your going to do Phil it has to be the whole package...as I am a fellow musician also!!!
Mmm..interesting. It could be argued that I have also paid my dues, playing in bands worldwide for 30 years. I met Phil when I was starting out, they were in Derby on the Nightlife tour. He was a gentleman, and certainly not the kind of man given to this kind of knee-jerk shortsighted reaction. God bless Phil indeed. Along with Glenn Hughes, he is one of the major influences on me becoming a musician, and it was my tribute.R U riding Bon Scotts coattails because you use his name as a handle?
well i think you did a good job. you obviously love lizzy like any person in their right mind should and this is a fans tribute so Philo would definately agree with it! can't say much for the dancers tho, givin me this gay vibe...what year were u on SITE?
Well thanks man! Yeah, I think it was more than just the dancers vibes that were gay! I cringed a bit when they choreographed all that around me, but hey, what can you do? I was on the show in 1995, and was tested by a casting agency for the as yet unmade movie of his life. Don t think Im in with a shout now, bit too old!
Iv heard they are actaully goign ahead with it now, Philomena's given her approval of some guy. Seeing as youre someone with in the know with Lizzy, I know it sounds crazy and
Awesome, well I've heard theyre actually going ahead with it now, Philomena's given her approval and confirmed someone. Hope they do a good job of it, don't knwo if you ever saw the Def Leppard movie, it was awful! Don't know if you know, and I know it sounds stupid seeing as I worship the man and his music, but how do you pronounce his name? Lin-ott or Lie-nott? Ive heard him say 'Philip Lie-nott' in an interview but he was repeating what the interviewer had already said, so coulda been a joke!
i stil say it sux and phil wouldn't be pleased neither would any thin lizzy fan, he doesn't do any justice to anybody, only a nobody wanring to be a somebody by riding a coattail of someone that has paid their dues and came from nothing to become an ultra mega superstar phil lynott. God bless phil.
Well of course you are entitled to your opinion, but Eric Bell, whom I met sometime after I appeared on the show loved it, so I'll go with his opinion, thanks!
ARE YOU OUT THERE !!!

He now gets annoyed when I ask him for any more episodes so how can I get the 1995 series episodes of Stars in their Eyes from Saturday the 6th of May 1995 to Saturday the 1st of July 1995 (minus that year's final)?
rebbaniml 4 years ago

Hey Kev!! For a few years now, there has been talk of a movie based on the book Phil's mom wrote about him. I understand Gary Dourdan from CSI will play him, but man they could sure use you for the live scenes!!
uneverything 4 years ago
You may not believe this, but I was contacted not long after the show through Lisa L'anson's programme on Radio 1, with a view to auditioning for the movie. It was shelved at the time, then I heard from the casting agency again in London a year or two later, and it looked like it was going ahead, with Holly Hunter as Phils Mum, but still it never got off the ground. Lets hope it finally gets made!

Incredible performance marred by the WTF? dancers!!
uneverything 4 years ago
Cheers, Uneverything, yeah, they just love to have those dancers, dont they? I remember The Police song "Invisible Sun" which is about northern ireland being played on TOTP; They couldnt appear so the in-house dancers pranced around to it with cardboard suns and swimsuits on.....it beggared belief!

Hi kevinandrewmoore!
As a Stars in their eyes fan I have to say that you performed brilliantly as Thin Lizzy's Phil Lynott 100% accurately!

Well done, Kev -- what ever happened to Crisis Management Productions...? 8-)

Hi Kevinandrewmoore
Great performance as Phil Lynott Did you have a great time when you were on Stars in their eyes when was the episode filmed?
1tardising 4 years ago
This was a very nice performance, when did you do that?
taekwongr 4 years ago
Hey Kev, I'm a HUUUUUUUUUUUGE Thin Lizzy fan, and I think that wasn't bad! (Not a big fan of the dancers, and I reckon the show should've put a live band just behind you, it'd look more in place.) Apart from the minor criticisms - which aren't anything to do with your singing or performance, well done!
chucknorristhesecond 4 years ago
Appreciate it Chuck2nd, and I agree, it did phase me a bit when they sent me down to pineapple dance studios to rehearse with these guys! A band wouldve nailed it, but these T.V. types just dont get it, do they?

Dave from Dizzy Lizzy here saying "Nice one Kev!"... if anything happens to our singer I'll give u a shout :D

I think This is a great tribute, forget about the dancers too homo for rock and roll but. ..the bass player did a great job, in fact I will copy his lines ... Phil Lynott 4 ever!!!
elguanchez 4 years ago
Kevin,I guess what urks me the most is the way the words and phrases are pronounced if your going to do Phil it has to be the whole package...as I am a fellow musician also!!!
flyinbryan6363 4 years ago
Not EVEN CLOSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
flyinbryan6363 4 years ago
Bryan, I shall take your balanced criticism squarely on the chin, but only cos you ve got some cool Starz vids on your channel! :-)
kevinandrewmoore 4 years ago
Any tribute to Thin Lizzy is ok in my book - great job, keeps Phil's memory, and the Thin Lizzy sound alive...
classicrockriffs 4 years ago
Those dancers are muy homo. Post Dancing in the Moonlight. I really love that fucking song. I'm sure you do a decent version.
tattypatty 4 years ago
Mmm..interesting. It could be argued that I have also paid my dues, playing in bands worldwide for 30 years. I met Phil when I was starting out, they were in Derby on the Nightlife tour. He was a gentleman, and certainly not the kind of man given to this kind of knee-jerk shortsighted reaction. God bless Phil indeed. Along with Glenn Hughes, he is one of the major influences on me becoming a musician, and it was my tribute.R U riding Bon Scotts coattails because you use his name as a handle?
kevinandrewmoore 4 years ago
well i think you did a good job. you obviously love lizzy like any person in their right mind should and this is a fans tribute so Philo would definately agree with it! can't say much for the dancers tho, givin me this gay vibe...what year were u on SITE?
tippnick 4 years ago
Well thanks man! Yeah, I think it was more than just the dancers vibes that were gay! I cringed a bit when they choreographed all that around me, but hey, what can you do? I was on the show in 1995, and was tested by a casting agency for the as yet unmade movie of his life. Don t think Im in with a shout now, bit too old!
kevinandrewmoore 4 years ago
Iv heard they are actaully goign ahead with it now, Philomena's given her approval of some guy. Seeing as youre someone with in the know with Lizzy, I know it sounds crazy and
tippnick 3 years ago
Awesome, well I've heard theyre actually going ahead with it now, Philomena's given her approval and confirmed someone. Hope they do a good job of it, don't knwo if you ever saw the Def Leppard movie, it was awful! Don't know if you know, and I know it sounds stupid seeing as I worship the man and his music, but how do you pronounce his name? Lin-ott or Lie-nott? Ive heard him say 'Philip Lie-nott' in an interview but he was repeating what the interviewer had already said, so coulda been a joke!
tippnick 3 years ago
i stil say it sux and phil wouldn't be pleased neither would any thin lizzy fan, he doesn't do any justice to anybody, only a nobody wanring to be a somebody by riding a coattail of someone that has paid their dues and came from nothing to become an ultra mega superstar phil lynott. God bless phil.
bonscott55 4 years ago
that's sacreligous phil's spinning in his grave what a numb nut!!

Well of course you are entitled to your opinion, but Eric Bell, whom I met sometime after I appeared on the show loved it, so I'll go with his opinion, thanks!
