  • HEAVY AS SHIT !!!

  • HELL fuck yes, Omar is amazing, and I cannot wait for a new tour

  • I can hear the percussion instruments!

  • first version of goliath/ rapid fire i heard 3 years ago. and i sill love it. when cedric does the high part and his voice sounds dirty i feel beyond the regular extent of human emotion.

    thanks so much!

  • wow, pretty big mess up arond 2:30

  • who's drumming here?

  • @spazstudios by listening the first snare roll, THOMAS!

  • Does anybody know the opening song to this?

btw I love this song. I am a huge volta fan. the always seem to have great albums and put on fucking sick shows. I didnt feel the last album though.

  • Cedric is singing the Buffalo lyrics to the BIG version so it's actually kinda just the same song no need to correct the title maximilian.

  • Ikey is going crazy at the end, I love it!

  • the correct title song is "goliath"...."rapid fire tollbooth" is a similar song in omar solo album

  • its actually before goliath became the official name on bedlam ingoliath

rapid fire tollbooth is its own song in dice no buffalo

  • and i mean lie giftbags haha, coz i kno some ppl sneak em in and that like Bixler hit one...

  • i heard ppl were passing joints at this show....is that true??

    thatd be hella raw.

  • i certainly wouldnt doubt it

  • this video still fucking owns

  • Thanks.

  • the intro is by ennio morricone

  • ive been wondering that shit FOREVER!!!! same song as in kill bill 2 right? where she gets shot by bills brother? right?

  • btw you know what song its called?

  • its called fistful of dollars. its hard to find, its part of the score from the movie by the same title.

  • Is there a chance you'll ever re-torrent any of your awesome footage?

  • I don't think so. Sorry.

  • banter about Jon vs. Thomas

    will this be deleted?!

  • yep

  • who is jon and thomas?

  • the former and current drummers.

  • ya suks that theyre both now "former". i have high hopes though

  • fucking great"!

  • AMAZING!

  • Savage!

  • everyone in this band is at the top of there game. there the best band 2 see live along with sts9 and thievery corporation...well at the moment

  • You're right. Paul is the best unhearable backup guitarist and there probably aren't any better bongoists out there than Marcel.

  • This particular song at this particular venue is one of TMV's greatest single performances ever.

  • agreed. this sounds so much better than 'goliath' live. i don't know what it is because it's shot with a shitty camera at a small(?) venue. i say small cause it's not bombarded with sub-bass and you can actually hear almost everything including cow bell. i wish they sounded like this every time they play but hey, nobody can be incredible all the time.

  • Come on man, don't knock my camera. It served me well.

  • Mr. Rose, my life would be incomplete without this video.

  • lol agreed!

  • They totally ripped off King Crimson's 21st Century Schizoid Man. I hate people who steal. My bike was stolen from me when I was nine. I hope Volta pays for what they've done.

  • holy shit. i never even made that connection. and king crimson is one of my favs. wtf! it sounds so obvious now though, i highly doubt tmv would rip them off intentionally. both bands are great, great minds think alike. ya never know though. tool rips them off too. some of the riffs from "thee of a perfect pair" are nearly identical to "46 & 2". at least, to my ears. now i am beginning to wonder if stephen king ripped off the crimson king. lmao. oh well, nobody is original.

  • Oh please, go grab a clue. They're obviously influenced by KC, but they aren't stealing anything. Get that buttplugg out of your arse.

  • Its similar, but its not nearly the same song.

    And i stole your bike...

  • love the intro...

    this is the good one..

  • First time i heard this live was in late '06

    Master opener!

  • The Mic and Cedric's Shoes

    A very noticable look.

  • i dont like his tennis shoes. it doesnt give him the frictionless dancing he used to do. and i dont think it work with their image very well

  • um i thought this song was called Goliath, because it is in the album the bedlam in Goliath???

  • This was before they had named it Goliath.

  • it was called idle tooth from the start

  • I believe you're thinking of the song that was later turned into Wax Simulacra

  • nah bra

  • ya bra idle tooth is wax simulacra

  • The original version of this song could be heard on Omar's solo record entitled Se Dice Bisonte, No Bùfalo.

  • Ues. Earlier versions were available as bootlegs as well.

  • EPIC intro courtesy of The Good,The Bad And The Ugly.

  • Is is not from Fistful of Dollars?

Either way, Morricone is awesome and TMV aren't far off.

  • It amazes me how you got 2 thumbs down. maybe 6 thumbs up

  • you can't dance to this, you just have to explode!!!! jesus christ what a band!! luv'em

  • Omar is not coming through loud enough in this video, which unfortunately means the solo doesn't come through well enough. That really blows because he explodes on this track every time.

  • Pure Chaos (I love chaos)

  • If TMV ever plays an ATDI song, I'd want it to be Embroglio. It's my favorite song and it goes along with the story in De-Loused.

  • I don't think that is EVER going to happen.

  • They should have kept this name for the song.

  • holy fucking shit.

  • 6th - 7th Minute - OMFG!

  • why why WHY! aren't those sax riffs in the goliath version?

    that really blows man

  • i really hope ur not reffering to the intro

  • The intro is trumpet. Learn your brass. Oh, and the intro is awesome, if you don't like it, that's your loss

  • eww the sax riffs sound like a little much anyway

  • The original version is on Se Dice by Omar. It has the sax riffs in there

  • what would happen if the mars volta played an ATDI song? i know it's never going to happen, but imagine how much greater they could make it.

  • man theyre great

its nice to see their getting more fans that "get" what their doing musically as oppose to the deloused days

  • cowbell? LOL

  • LMAO COWBELL

  • I was really disappointed that Goliath didn't turn out more like this performance. The guitars in the final version were so airy. This performance is probably the heaviest one they've ever done.

  • I completely agree man, this version kicks a hell of a lot more ass. Even visually, too, with the onset of the main riff, Omar is just rocking out.

  • fuck me!

i almost went to that show.

dammit if only i were christian.

    fuuck!

  • And on the 7th day Omar created God

  • so freakin tru!

  • I love Cedric's jump in at the beginning

  • This is awesome! Sounds a lot better than the recorded version.

  • I loved the heavy wah solo on Rapid Fire, but I love the speed of Goliath, great song either way!

  • Wild

  • whats the name of this little intro? during that first minute

  • It's the theme to a Fistful of Dollars. Kick ass, no?

  • best rapid fire ever.. i love this song. i like bedlum now.. but i have to admit i like the si dice bisonte no buffalo version better.

  • lmfao what are you TALKING about the goliath version kicks the shit out of it

  • that was superb

  • so sex

  • Best performance of Rapid Fire Tollbooth, ever.

  • YES!!! omfg. umm...wow.

  • I love Mars Volta, it's my favourite band . Very good performance !!!

  • cedric's going nuts during the coda

  • respect for knowing what you are talking about.

  • fucking amazing

  • i cant believe that mars volta are playing this stuff....im blown away....siick sh*t! if you guys havent gottent he original press brown vinyl....get it NOW!

  • I think the new title of this song is Goliath. Like it very much.

  • Amazing performance. They've improved a lot from when I heard them last live.

  • new drummer is absolutely a beast

i cannot wait for this freaking album

  • can anyone picture a Mars Volta/MF Doom collab? It'll be a dream come true. I can actually see Madlib and Questlove work with these guys.

  • They already collaborated with Handsome Boy Modeling School.....Song's called "A Day In The Life"...features RZA and AG as well...but i hear ya...VoltaDOOM would be THA SHIT!!!

  • Hey Mojoerose, have they played Drunkship of laterns in their recent sets? I'm curious to see how Tom's sound compliments the song.

  • Yeah, they played it. I've got video up from the Troubadour show and the Berkeley show. In my opinion, it was absolutely amazing.

  • there's something about Thomas's drumming that reminds of old 70's prog rock drumming. Damn, he's nuts, and one of the best drummers I heard in a while, alongside Jon Theodore.

  • The Volta are gonna be so popular after this new album I can feel it

  • No they won't. And thats a damn good thing.

  • this was the greatest moment of my life, i was here 3rd row and i was sooo high. i was fucking freaking out when they played the fistfull of dollars intro. this was amazing

  • its so much more epic played by the mars volta than omar's solo

  • I love that fucking intro.

  • This sounds A LOT like "21st Century Schizoid Man" by King Crimson...

  • of course they still do drugs.

watch recent interviews, you see them constantly figgiting and scratching/rubbing their arms. thats a sign of someone using iv drugs.

  • nope.

  • they are not human...

    i sware..

  • oh myyyy

  • i havent seen ceddy do his little handstand hopp thingy in agez... good to see they've still got the energy to spazz out.

    Great song obviously.

  • Fuck yes this song is so badass

  • holy christ. truly efing amazing. cant wait for it to come out.

  • Hes ALWAYS done crazy shit onstage. I doubt drugs would change that. much.

  • This song is amazing. and this IS what it will sound like on the album. it has been re-worked.

  • As I undestand the drug issue in the mars volta, is that they quit opioids about 3 or 4 years ago. It is unclear if they still do other drugs.

  • I think somewhere between touring for Amputechture and recording for Bedlam, Cedric started doing drugs again. These are not the antics of a sober man.

  • hanging out with that john frusciante he's a bad influence lol, i dunno i'm not on drug usually on absinthe when i'm on stage and i do crazy stuff like that

  • john quit heroine awhile ago. obviously they smoke weed but who cares

  • I don't think John even smokes weed anymore. The guy abstains from everything, even sex.

  • fucking amaaaaaaaheyheyheyaaazing

  • i cant wait for the new album its gona be amazing

  • Cedric is so noticable with his white shoes.

  • I saw him at the Sunset Junction Festival on Saturday. He was walking around wearing his white shoes.

  • He probably have a lot of pair of brand new shoes. But have you seen them in the photos they look mature and great.

  • did you talk to the guy?

  • I asked him what bands he was there to see. He said he didn't knwo any of the bands. Then a friend of his came up and that was the end of our dialog.

  • Is it me or Omar is crazier than ever. Since Jon was out and Thomas came in; Omar seems to be in top of things and Thomas is just blowing shit things up. Those two would probably make a pair to their relationship. As a band.

  • the mars volta do not make bad music, okay? no more debating.

  • that crowd looks bad

  • no the craziest show of the tour was in berkeley...cedric ran out into the crowd for like 6 minutes in the middle of rapid fore tollbooth. then he started singing rap lyrics.

  • what? really thats seriously odd wow haha i would have like to have seen that

  • Fistful of dollars is definitely not Morricone's best.

  • My name is Judoapples and I love The Volta. They deserve to be as "arrogant" as they wanna be.

  • my name is james (pronounced jah-miss) and I hate mars volta

  • i love how the mars volta is losing fans like jechtlag. it shows that they do exactly what they say they do. they make the music for themselves and aren't trying to please any of their fans. if they fall "off the map" they really won't care, as long as some record label will pay them to make music. watch the henry rollins interview.

  • To me it sounds like what Viscera Eyes sounds compared to the rest of Amputechture. I REALLY hope this record puts TMV back on the track and has them making wonderful music like the one from Tremulant or De-Loused; because, if it doesn't, they'll officially suck balls.

  • thomas is very awesome but he is to fuckin noisy!!

  • I am a huge mars volta fan and after hearing "Amputechture," I was quite dissapointed and thought that they were losing their touch. I still prefer "Deloused in the Comatorium" over any of their other albums. However, I am very pleased with this and I have a restored faith and confidence in them. I am predicting this album to be a little more like "Frances the Mute" and really good.

  • A Mars Volta concert video is not where you input your life story. Go tell it to someone who gives a fuck.

  • I was there Front row that show was cool

  • Fuckin a

  • I hope that in the next album they utilize more of Ikey's keyboard playing (beyond just organ sounds) in some songs, but this song already sounds great. Can't wait to hear the final recorded version.

  • I just wanna dance when Thomas rides that double stack. I.E. 7:18ish.

  • wow thomas pridgen slays all on that fast riff that starts in the middle... "rapid fire" is my least favorite off of SDBNB

  • It's not my least favorite, but one of my least favorite. I'm torn between Please Heat This Eventually and Boiling Death Request.

  • The Mars Volta definitely does Mavavishnu Orchestra's, King Crimson's, Yes', Pink Floyd's, and Led Zeppelin's legacy honor and pride.

  • There is no resisting when Omar and Cedric put on their shiny shoes.

  • Shiny, tiny shoes.

  • holy shit is this thomas pridgen on drums? he's fucking CRAZY on those skins. i didnt think anyone could fill jon theodore's shoes. but here he is.

  • this song is on Omar's lates album, "Se Dice Bisonte, No Bufalo". It's a slower version, but the album great.

  • 21st century schizoid man anyone?

  • I think that's been well discussed.

  • King Crimson

  • dude. i love this, i don't think i've really heard tmv do anything else like this, except for tetragrammaton i suppose, which has more of the riffs in hand and straight forward beats- but they do it in style!! haha. so anyone know when the new album is coming out, specifically?

  • I heard Oct. 30, but that's just a rumor.

  • awesome w8ting the new album

  • theyve improved this song so much since i last heard it back in October..they added that whole last 5 minutes. cant wait for the new album

  • This tune is on Omar's new solo album . Cedric is also on a few of the tracks.

  • the new album is called "The Bedlam in Goliath" and should be out in august(for those who want to know).

  • where did you find this out?

  • Quoth Michael Scott: "Wikipedia is the best thing, ever..."

  • amen, wikipedia owns lol

  • Absolutely amazing!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This shit is definitely awesome. Hopefully the version on the next TMV album is up-tempo and drum-driven like this.

  • I second that. Stuff like this throughout the album would make me CRAP.

  • Roaaar...Orgasm-Orgasm-ORGASM

    Unbelievable Energy they spread out!

    Fantastic...Made my Day ;)

  • Really great song, can't wait until the new album!

  • needs more cowbell!!!!

  • TMV is a fantastic group.

  • Dude i dont like the studio version as much as live, i hope on the new album its gonna be faster paced like this is... Damn i fuckin love the mars volta

  • THIS VIDEO IS AMAZING! Thank you so much. The sound quality is far superior to any Rapid Fire Tollbooth bootlegs than I can find. Thanks for this video!

GOD DAMN THIS SONG MAKES ME DANCE! The Mars Volta is azing. Cedric and Omar are my heroes.
