My parents constantly say that my online friends don't care about me and just pretend to be my friends. However, if said friends didn't care, why would they be honest with me and try to help me and bring me back to reality?
Like you said, there's another person on the other side of that computer. They might be a good person or a total jerk, but don't assume that everyone's the latter.
I wholeheartedly agree with your statement that friends are friends, no matter where you make 'em. I had a former friend online who let me down with her negative comments concerning internet friends, which therefore made me feel crap because I thought we got along well. It's nice to see that there are others who are open-minded as I am.
i gess i agree with you and peegai, most of my friends are online... ppl in real life don't quite like me and every nce in a while i meet someone wo does acept me for the fact i'm well.. .. kinda diff..

I have found that people still feel a sense of anonimity via the internet, and are much more willing to share personal details that way (too many details sometimes! LOL). I agree that both should be treated with the same respect.
I feel the same way about online friends. I wish me and my "e-friends" could live closer together and stuff, but I make a difference between "pals" and "friends". "Pals" are just people you see every now and then, "friends" you talk to all the time whenever you get the chance.

I don't really treat my e-friend any different than my "real" friends; friends are just friends to me :)
