You can back up the visual with the ILS. It's almost standard operating procedure to do so when possible.

No ILS is used during low visibility in the area.

So are you based out of MSP or what? One other question during the week what is the best time to see the NW 747's at MSP? And what times on the weekends? Thanks

Jack is based out of Detroit, The best timie if you want to see the NW B747-400 take off during the week would be around 1:00PM,

and landing around 10:40 AM The times are the same on the weekends too. Except there are 2 747's on saturday, about 30 minutes apart.
