Awesome music! It's nice to see a "proper drum kit" played in jazz music today. I've seen some artists today and their drum kits are just stupid thin pads that you plug into a computer or a game. They don't look the same or sound the same as a real drum kit.
When will guitar players ever realise that if they must play permanent crap lead, perhaps it would be a great deal more tasteful if they reduced the volume so that the audience might just be able to hear the rest of the band?
We've got exactly the same problem in our school jazz band. The guitarist has turned up his volume so much that it sounds boomy and drowns out even the drums. Every one else has to play louder and no one can hear them selves
Guitarists, eh? That's usually the case - a guitarist is inclined to think that if the audience can hear anything else, then the guitar is not loud enough. Where do you think they get this idea from? It's no coincidence perhaps that Zawinul only worked with Santana and Scott Fitzgerald, i.e. great players who realise that a band is a band, NOT a backing trio for some ego-tripping guitarist. I suggest you hire a hitman immediately!
I think you mean Scott Henderson? And Joe only did one studio track with Santana. More significant are his guitarists Gary Poulson and Amit Chatterjee, both tasteful groovers. To be fair to the Curfew guitarist, the balance was the house engineers fault - as soon as he saw a colourful "rocky" looking guitar he assumed it was a heavy metal guitar led band. Nick Andrew is actually a sympathetic listener and tasteful collaborator to play with - the clip doesn't do his awesome musicianship justice.
Drum sound on this not good... a tighter feel is required and this Drummer does NOT come from a jazz background.. terrible sounding kit, way too loose a feel and it does not swing when required..
Powerful stuff. Powerful drum sound. Love the dynamic range and the phrasing on the breaks. I've been struggling with the repetitiveness of this tune on kit, and how to retain the delicacy, so this was inspiring. Tomorrow night, I'll have fresh ideas.
Thumbs up for fingerpicking an electric guitar on a solo!

Sounds pretty good for a live performance. I think everyone these days expects amateur/semi-pro bands to sound like professional studio recordings.
That said, the drums are a bit overpowering and the bass is hardly audible. Sort that and it will sound REALLY good!

This is really good. A nice bright sound, and driven along nicely by the drummer. A nice lively piece.

It's nice to have a real guitar and sound expert view at last!
The permanently crap guitarist has now seen the error of his ways and has now taken to perform the entire set on a Stylophone through a Wah Wah.
Look forward to seeing your version of this tune.

I think clunky is the word. Or maybe over the top! I'm beginning to think the ability to swing is a lost art.
