I think people from the U.S. are mostly afraid to go to Haiti because of crime, not racism. They are afraid of the poverty and think the government is unstable ... that kind of thing.

If Americans felt the government of Haiti was stable, and the crime wasn't too bad, then I think there would be a lot more tourists who would like to go vacation there, which would be good for Haiti's economy.

I don't think most Americans think Haiti is racist, though. People in the Caribbean are so friendly.

@cecinia23 I think the perception here is that the people in Haiti aren't happy with the government, and it could change at any time. Like there could be a revolution or something. That's what I mean about it not being stable.

The stability of the government does make a difference for investors who want to put money into building a tourist resort. Those investors want to know that the government won't go away and the laws won't suddenly change.

Every country is different, as well as everyone's perspective. There are differing opinions of mixed dating in the Caribbean. You should research more. Were there never any tensions between Mulatto & Black Haitians? between Indians & Blacks in Guyana, Trinidad, etc; I do agree, there is a lot mixture, but to say everyone is ok with it is a lie. I think the reason why Blacks in the US seemed threatened by it, is because of their low population.
