i was checking out the comments on the video & i saw a very useful one which i really find hard somebody mentioned it before anyway it's ; how does the sound from the drums end up in the camera recording?
Im glad this video has helped some of yall! Another great recording software is Reaper. I have actually started using reaper for my recording needs now days!
@pae04b hey 1 question do you get delay sound using the microphone jack because im using an aux cable from my electronic drums to my laptop and whenever i play the sound is like 1 second off and it throws my rhythm away
thanks man!! i made exactly what you did with my Alesis DM6 USB Express and it worked perfect! the only problem is that audacity sound is a little bit poor. do you know another software?
@YaItsRiff at first connect your drums to mic port of your computer then press the picture of a michrophone in fl studio.then select "into edison audio editor/ recorder".then "audio input needed, please select an audio input first" pops up.Just press "ok" and select an audio input from the right and you´re ready to record.
@MrT3m3 thnk for responding, i hav did all the steps u gave me, but i have problem with selecting an audio input and i seemed to be stuck at the settings.. plus i feel like an idiot lol.. wish to hear from u soon..
AWESOME. i really want to start making covers but my kit is in my room and my PC is in the spare room next door, so id have to record the drums just using the amp i have pluged into my kit, would that still work or would it make the quality sound rubbish???
dont ever use audacity!!! it sucks 10x as much balls as your mom. jesus it sucks! i recored all i want by day to remember, and the toms sounds like.....bloooob, blooob, bOOOOMMMMM! it sucks!
its basically the same thing if i use garage band too right?? and what is that "splitter" actually called cuz im going to buy one. (the thing that connects 1 wire to 2
due nice vid! Really helped. How do you record the sound and the video on ur camera? do u buy extra wires for the camera or do u edit it afterwards. Plz reply as soon as possible!
@mrfriggypops ok, i dont know what its called, but its the same size as a standard ipod input. does not matter the color. mine happens to be green, but my dads is white. it varies. look up what an ipod jack is called and then look up double male (ipod jacks name) cable.
i have tryed this and no matter there the vollume levels are at it sounds way too distorted and im not shure what to do. would u like for me to send u a video with what i aam doing and a sample of the audio? i turned the mic on the drums and on the computer way down, way up, in the middle and all over and nothing seems to be working. ill be glad to send a video if u need it.
You dont need the splitter. Just plug your headphone into the headphone input so you can hear u self drumming, and plug in the cable for recording into MONO input on the drum module and conect the cable with your computer mic. input. And if you want play with music, than you should connect you mp3/mobile/mp4... with AUX.IN input.
I've tried basically this same method with crap success - I think my problem was from using the brain's Mono speaker output to my laptop mic-in port - the result was very muffled trigger sounds.
I'm guessing because those outputs need to be hooked up to a powered mixer to get amplified and the headphone output doesn't need amplification? Maybe someone else around here knows what I'm talking about.. Yamaha DTXtreme IIs is what I'm working with
I have a TD-20 electric set. I would like to start recording/video taping stuff. I may even do a lesson series. How do I get all the sound and video in sync just as you have in this video?
i want to put electrics drums through a acoustic amp and then mic amp but the sound of me hitting the drums gets picked up by condenser mic lol anybody got any ideas?
@KaneCharlesworth should be 100% safe IF you download it at the main website that you can download it from. All other websites might hold a virus within Audacity so becareful where you download from. I recommend Cnet.com or audacity's main website to download Audacity audacity. sourceforge. net
i'm getting an electric drum kit soon and i wanted to know what i needed to record them. so i basically need an audio cable, an audio splitter, a way of listening to the actual drums and AUDACITY? Please reply ASAP!
To expand on this technique a little; since he's only using one input, the drums are being recorded in a mono signal, what you can do is buy an interface with two or more inputs and record the left and right outputs from the drum brain, allowing you to record the same panning that you hear in your headphones from the brain.
FOR EVERYONE WITH NOT CLEAR RECORDING SOUND: Go into control panel, sound, recording, properties, enhancements, and uncheck both noise suppression and accoustic echo cancellation. atleast i know this works for W7, hope this helps!
@shaneydude11 Hmm doesn't seem to be possible with my micorphone input. However, it is possible when I choose the built-in microphone which is beside my webcam in the screen. I don't know why I don't have an enhancement tab when choosing the regular microphone input. I have even tried recording through the usb adapter from my logitech headset, but still I can't choose enhancements. Any Ideas?
Nevermind, got it figured out, and now I'm getting a crystal clear recording! Just had to go into control panel and disable some of the pre-settings that took over sound associations for other programs like skype. Only thing now is I noticed it is still picking up sound from the built in mic for the webcam, and I can't seem to disable that without disabling the mic in at the same time. Not sure if that is a win 7 OS issue, or Acer crystal eye cam issue.
@L0ve4music4life - Also, about the constant crashing issue ( for anyone else running Win 7 OS that is having this same issue), I uninstalled the most current Audacity 1.2.6 and by recommendation of Audacity, installed the 1.3.12 beta version which seems to work great so far for Win 7!
ughhh. I never get anything but pure headache trying to record to computer.. downloaded the audacity program, everything WAS working, (except, regardless of input volume the sound is horrible, and nothing as clean as your recording) now the program is constantly crashing. Any advice?
@nadagain Nevermind, I think I understand now. You have the cable hooked up to an adapter and the adapter to a splitter. The splitter is connected to the headphones and to another cable that goes to the computer.
I downloaded Audacity, and I record my drums. But they sound like shit. It sounds like if you turn an amp too high in volume. Please help me. I use Windows XP.
Hey man. I tried doing this but it always comes out really fuzzy. I've turned the volume down so its barely hearable on the drum module and to 0.1 on audacity and it still acts weird. Is there anything I can do on the module reverb/etc wise to help?
@pae04b is it possible to record electronic drums on a portastudio the same way you do it with your notebook?? plug it to line in and record it on one of the channels?
@CoD4Rapeist The problem is the level of your signal, turn down the level of your drum kit of turn down the input volume for the mic/line input. sometimes only some drums will clip and this is because they are simply louder than your other drums, So once you get what you think is a good level for the whole kit, throw a compressor on the channel that has the drums, this will make the soft drums a little louder, and it will soften up the louder drums, to give you a smooth signal.
@ToMbAiLeY2312 1/8 " 1/4" instrument cable is all you need to be able to recording the drums, but if you want to use headphones you'll need to get a head phone extender cable which is 1/4" to female 1/8", then get a headphone splitter adaptor and then you can plug your head phones into one side, and you'll need another 1/8" to 1/8" cable to plug into your computer. I hope this helps.
