What is weird though is that back in 1988 at the Acid house parties we used to talk about 1967 and it seemed quite far in the past (I'd been only 2 in 1967) but now it is longer ago to 1988 than it was from then to 1967! Where does the time go!?
This footage is significant to me. Footage of my hero John Lennon with his Sgt. Pepper-moustache is among my favorite footage. Unfortunately, there is only so much film of him from his moustachioed period. This period of his life and the music of The Beatles from this psychedelic period forms me to this day, and has formed me since the age of thirteen. I'm bedecked in my real-life Sgt. Pepper moustache right now. Few things inspire me like Sgt. Pepper, and few men like Lennon. His best period.
Don't even associate these modern raves with stupid house and trance music and people wearing those gay ass shutter shades and, baggy clothes and pop ecstasy to the epicness of 60s psychedelic rock and freak out music scene. They are worlds apart. Ecstasy<acid. Hippies are from the 1960s and were trying to find something about the meaning of life, not fags who go to raves, listen to shit music, and get fkd up.
I have just discovered in a clear out of my attic that I have an original poster for this event. I have been told it is worth a bit of money. It has been in a poster tube for about 35 years,I'm quite chuffed!
@Walruson I heard they both were there,''But did not meet each other until later? At least that is what it says at the end of this14 hour technicolor dream movie..Right at the ending?
@dannyhood66 Well I think I'm said it wrong. That images are from UFO club, where Pink Floyd used to play: it was the most popular place between underground people end in the 1966. John met Yoko early 66. But they get friend and lovers some years after, cause Yoko tried to get John anyway.
@Walruson What? ''Well not in 1966, it went by way to fast..More like a,12 day marathon for the happily misguided enjoying the leftover moments of a dieing whimsical psychedelia race still having momentary relapses of unnecessary reason why the new bands have no Hansel and gretel story with psychedelic lyric..The future days had already past on this planet,'' or perhaps wherever hybrids run across the stars mechanised among the different groups of psy that are a harmless group of organisms.
I read that in " Lives of Lennon" What book did you read that in? I'd like to know so answer. I heard he was paranoid that people would think he was a "hippie freak." He went with his grade school friend, Pete.
@tunenito The hippies now i think went electronic underground "techno" Psytrance But they were underground electronic music even in the 60s..Just not as digital like the psy raves that are way underground in mountain forest..I hope they pick up all their trash in those isolated forest,'' Or where ever the fuck they have those parties''..I never hear of them taking place in American clubs,''Not the good shit anyways,''Its always that weak 'trendy''house Dj dance electronic music shit here..
@tunenito I hear you man..Ive seen up and coming rave events online around different parts of the world advertised..Most likely in India forested areas..They posted "online" warning signs not to touch certain plants or wildlife in the areas habitat cause of its exotic forest beauty..Don't know how they could possibly keep doing something like that..It seemed to be for a certain "Goa hippie" group i think? They knew not to make a habit out of it, respected as a special place?

Very similar vibe to the raves I went to around London in 1988/89 in London from 1966-68 is the only other popular cultural moment that looks better.

John Lennon was out of his mind on acid that day.
Yoko did the art for the show and they hadn't even met yet.

This may very well have been the first rave

Yes, very definitely!
Big scenes like this gathering were pretty popular in the Sixties, but they were called "be-ins" or "happenings."
Could ravers be modern day hippies???

@dannyhood66 A rave in a mountain forest sounds so cool! Agreed, ravers need to keep the forest clean. :-)
