  • I have added more of my swings can you tell more about my bumping and hips?

  • When I use my driver I fixed my slice that I had but now when I hit it the ball goes straight but it goes really high and then falls down extremely fast and it only goes about 100-150 yards whereas when I had the slice I could hit it 200-215 yards ?????

  • It would take a lot more than 500 characters to give you a good answer. :-p How I would comment regarding hitting down on the ball, head movement, etc would depend on the individual and a number of other variables. One quick note regarding the driver, a lot of people (even pros) hit down on the ball with the driver, but studies show that you'll get more distance with an upward angle of attack. Charles Howell vs Bubba Watson are good example parts of one study about this.

  • ive been told to keep the head still but ive also been told to hit down on the ball by compressing my chest to the ground so the head must move toward the ground right?

  • i have a question. how come every time i go to the driving range i hit the ball really well and it goes out umm like 200 to 250 years but when i swing it seems like the ball goes straight and then it just makes like a big curve and breaks to the right... any tips?

  • @therealrene There are a couple videos about slicing on the channel. Have a look at those and see if they can help. :-)

  • @SwingManGolf yes sir thank you. i found them just a few videos after watching this one.

  • Please go to my channel and check out the videos of my swing. Tell me what you think-read the descriptions. I'm not going for the PGA or anything, so no need to be really mean like a see a lot of people doing. Although I am looking for suggestions and criticism.

  • 0:52 was pure

  • lol @ :52

  • Every bad example he demonstrates is an exact impression of what I do all the time.

  • Lmao 1:10 Is The Best Part!

  • good tips...they are really useful!

  • very clear

  • haha watch the guy chase his bags around the 3/4 part of the video after the vertebrae part

  • i don't swing fast, but i swing really hard. How do I correct that?

  • @flameout12345 - There's a video on tension in the channel. Take a look at that for an idea on how to get some of the hardness out of your swing.

  • Golf Secrets

  • Excellent tutorial, I like your method of teaching by giving tips, such as try not to move your head. It's a good way to learn, thanks!

  • Useful advice. Cheers Swiss Pro.

  • LMAO was watching this without sound and about pee'd myself when I saw 1:06 thru 1:10!!!!

  • You're right... I knew why he was doing it and still fell out laughing when I watched it again while it was muted.

  • This guy's a quack. If you want to know how to hit a golf ball properly, you need a golfing machine instructor, period.

  • Actually, I'm quite highly qualified. For starters I'm a PGA member, have taught 100s of lessons, written numerous golf articles for magazines like US Airways Magazine, run a golf instructional website w/ thousands of members, won the Pinnacle Distance Challenge with a 381-yard televised drive, posted rounds of golf in the 60s from the back tees in pro tournaments, etc.

The golfing machine has produced some good instructors & players - but there are also many other effective swing styles! :-)

  • I agree there are many different ways to swing a golf club. However, from waist high to waist high, roughly, is where a great golf swing emerges. For instance, Jim Furyk is known for his swing being so unorthodox, however through the impact interval his fundamentals are sound. There really is only one proper way to swing a golf club through the impact interval. Your qualifications are of no importance. In this country all you need to teach golf, apparently, is a golf club and a mouth.

  • Again, I don't believe that to be a true statement. Even through impact, there are many successful variations to get the job done. There is no one "proper" way to do it.

I'm happy to engage in a constructive debate with you, however, belittling and insulting another person does nothing to further the discussion.

  • Dont let people bother you . i watched this and it actully helped me alot to relearn what i was doing wrong. Thanks for your help

  • The weight should be at the very least moving to the front side during the downswing.Depending on the shot being played and the height you wish to achieves leads to how much.

But the most important position or aspect of the swing is your hand positions at impact. You have to have a straight top handand a bent bottom hand. You can simply maintain that angle through the swing or release hand action to get there, which is a bit more powerful.Your weight will get there if you control the wedge right

  • My question deals how to reconcile two seemingly contradictory pieces of advice among leading instructors: (1) to "move off the ball" -- namely, to send my left shoulder in back of the ball for a powerful weight shift AND (2) to keep my head still -- namely, to keep rotating around a fixed and stable center of rotation. Thanks for your marvelous videos.

  • What?!?! Contradictory instruction in golf? :-p

Too little space to discuss in the limited space of the comment field. Feel free to post your question to the Swing Man Golf forum. :-)

  • These two teachings are, as you say, contradictory. You'll have to choose one or the other. if you shift your wait to your back foot, you're head isn't going to stay completely still and you're not going to rotate around a fixed center of rotation. The first option is certainly more powerful and, in my opinion, better. However, in order to make a proper wait shift back and maintain balance throughout the swing, the first move down needs to be with your hips

  • I disagree with a lot of this actually.

    1) It isn't necessarily a case of either or - golf isn't always so black & white. There are relevant shades of grey too.

    2) It is possible to make a weight shift and still keep your head relatively still and pivot around a fixed point.

  • 3) Proper is a dangerous word to use in golf. Something can be proper relative to a certain swing method, but it doesn't mean it is absolutely proper.

    4) You can still maintain balance in the swing w/o moving w/ the hips first.

  • Something can be proper relative to a certain swing method, yes. However, my point was that through the impact interval there is really only one single method that maximizes all aspects of a good golf swing: power, accuracy, etc...

And again, you'll never maximize all aspects of a good golf swing without having the hips start the down swing. It's pure physics.

  • both points are correct, but the weight shift can only really be minimal and the effect of the weight shift would only really serve the purpose of maintaining a certain flow throughout the swing, as you've said. But then this would throw out the purpose of the weight shift being for power. So some power could be generated, but not much. Some weight shift could happen while rotating around a fixed point, but not much.

  • i played with a guy today that had the ugliest golf swing i have seen thus far but he hit such great shots that went straight as a arrow he had to have been in the 80s

  • Take a look at "The Strangest Swings in All of Golf" video on YouTube...same kinda thing, really nasty-looking but strangely effective swings.

  • yeah he had a no joke 5 secound backswing ten finger grip all the works when i first saw him on his practice swing i though why did this guy have to get paired with me but i was wrong

  • Good info

  • howcome you're not using the meatball technique in your swing demonstration? Your wrist is moving in the conventional rotary motion. Practice what you preach!

  • My teaching style is one that is somewhat non-partisan. I try not to use language like best, proper, or correct, because I believe that different things make sense & work for to different people. There are certainly 'popular' ways of doing things, but that doesn't mean it's the proper way. Rather I try to present various things as options with pros & cons and then let people decide for themselves. Depending on who I'm working with & what their goals are, I'll use 3-4 different hand actions.

  • thanks for the tips! The points are really helpful and I like the layout of the video.
