I don't think that it's so much lacking the soul as the original as much as it's a more grunge-sounding version. The Stereophonics always do rougher sounding songs, and they probably wanted to make this cover sound more like their type of genre. The U2/Mick Jagger/Fergie is the best version of the song I've heard so far, though.

I agree. This cover feels as if it's lacking the soul of the original. I can't decide if it's the slightly slower pace or the uninspired vocals, but something's just not there.

The guitar is definitely a nice touch, though; I'd consider it the redeeming quality in this case.

Decent cover but it adds nothing to the original.

The vocals lack the bite and inflection of Jagger, and the solo is an imitation of Richards but lacks the soul.

Covering this song at a concert is one thing, but no band should cover a song this EPIC on an album unless they have something to add.
