  • The sound quality is great IMO. . .Yeah I expected video, but who cares, this was awesome!!!

  • YOUTUBE=VIDEOS

    GOOGLE=PICTURES

  • During the first sonic flight ppl in the ground heard this sound and thought the jet blew up in the air.

  • back in the day the reason missiles couldn't get them was because the guidance technology of the day could not change course fast enough. once it had locked on target the SR-71 would already have opened the taps and been gone. However this was back in the late '50s, today its as viable a target as anything else and is obsolete, being as it was a spy plane whose job is now done by satelites and unmanned drones

Still a hugely impressive machine by any standards, more so when you consider its age

  • It does the double the space shuttle does on reentry. Sweet.

  • Nothing but a bunch of complainers on peoples videos! You dont "see" what you want to see go make your own videos and shut up!

  • The SR-71 can evade missiles with full afterburner alone

    THUMBS UP 4 THE SR-71

  • @kingofinferno100 Well it COULD evade missiles when it was in use and that was because it could simply outrun any missile, i am not so sure that is true any more. However i can;t say that with any degree of certainty, it's just a (semi) educated guess based on, from what i can see, the fastest SAM can travel up to Mach 6 which is double what the SR-71 can travel.

  • When I was a little kid living in Maine in the mid 60's, we used to hear sonic booms every day. Some were off in the distance, like these, and some were so loud they scared the crap out of you.

  • pffft what a joke

  • OsanBlackCat5RS --- YOU TWAT!

  • Hmmm. That's disappointing - visually & audibly. I expected much more.

  • @KaySirahSirah you gotta rember there flying up at twice the alittude as any jet you have prob ever flow in (most airliners fly between 30k-45kft) can u hear those jets, nope, so hearing these at 70k is pretty amazing when you think about it, but yeah video wise, dunno if u could even see it at that altitude, the sr-71 was big, but not really big.

  • dear santa

  • lame!exclamationpointfour

  • your apology is not accepted

    disliked you mofo

  • fuck u

  • Damn your explanation, this video sucks.

  • For those who it may concern. The best book to read if you want to fully understand the blackbird is: Flying the SR-71 Blackbird, In the cockpit on a secret operational mission. Its a long title i know... Its a great book and it dispells myths and tells hard facts. Good war storys too.

  • well the blackbird is still in use to this day

  • @halo1179 Tha last flight of the SR-71 was October 9th 1999. no blackbird is flying today.

  • @SR71U2ube opps typo lol "The"

  • @SR71U2ube and you belive that the goverment is going to tell evreyone what they are doing to defending our nation ??

  • haha i have the same album, someone should upload the roger smith interview

  • @xraytwonine post it dude!

  • Nice upload m8, thanks for sharing.

  • The dislike bar looks like my green dog's penis

  • sr71 was 100 miles away on these passes?

  • @tokenride04 It all depends on the air. I dont know what the statistics for these 3 recordings are but It sounds to me like they where recorded for evaluation purposes so probabley right under its flight path. Sometimes the sonic boom wouldnt reach the ground. It had something to due with the atmospheric conditions, I think it talks about it in the book "Blackbirds Rising"

  • Y'know, you can't have a sonic boom without the "boom", much less without video.

  • There could be video somewhere in the vaults but they wont be declassified for a while. Each U-2,A-12,SR-71 and YF-12 had a camera to record each and every mission from the inside of the cockpit. That way the pilots every action was recorded and documented if an accident occured. There is also old EWS camera footage that was briefley used in Nat Geo's Area 51 documentry from an A-12 test, there are more videos out there than you can think, some of them may just be in an old retirees collection.

  • dear Santa....

  • LIGHTSABER!!!! TROLOLOLOLOLOLlolololololol

  • And now you got your lightsaber. Happy?

  • Pathetic!

  • The exterior of that plane reaches 400 -600 degrees in flight. Crazy physics involved

  • you know whats funny? there is another video like this with the same exact recording but it has thousands of likes and good comments,i think that disliked videos just draw more attention to more disliked videos. People wonder why Facebook doesnt have a Dislike button, youtube is a good example of its abuse.

  • That sound is just delightful

  • Why did they bring this plane out of service? First Blackbird, then Concorde.. we're on a mission to go back in time

  • well i actually like this video cuz it reminds us how it actually sounds because you will never hear this jet fly again :,(

  • The Archangel 12 was an amazing feat of engineering that was both before its time and also too late to be of use. Satellite came into play and were so much cheaper than manned flights. It really makes you wonder what's going on today if we had this tech since the 60's.

  • Sounds eerie.

  • @WhatsInspiration

Almost like Thunder, but its not.

  • Although I have never heard a sonic boom in real life. when they do those tests about noise levels and what the public think is loud, they should also include thunder claps as a comparison to sonic booms. as I turn't the volume right up for this vid and it wasn't that bad... compared to a thunder storm.

  • It sounds like my shit when its hitting the water.

  • Lame

  • @MrToecutter10 .... You're an idiot.

  • drums anyone?

  • That's Chuck Norris farting

  • Awesome!! Sounds so ominous! O.O

  • awesome.

  • #downvotedtooblivion!

  • u are a dicking fuking another dick man

  • THTS THUNDER U TWAT

  • what a low frame rate, did you use powerpoint? *laughs*.... oh wait you did....

  • If you don't have a video then why even bother uploading this? Keep it as your desktop background ya dingus.

  • fag

  • The only reason you posted this crap is so you can see the lightsaber. Loser.

  • you know whats funny? there is another video like this with the same exact recording but it has thousands of likes and good comments,i think that disliked videos just draw more attention to more disliked videos. People wonder why Facebook doesnt have a Dislike button, youtube is a good example of its abuse.

  • @SR71U2ube There is nothing wrong with people voicing their opinions. Don't be mad that they don't like your video.

  • @zulok1337 Lmao it aint my video. Im just pointing out the rediculousness.

  • @SR71U2ube Good point!

  • @SR71U2ube May I dislike your comment?

  • @AreaQNH870 Buttons right there.

  • @SR71U2ube I think this video gets more dislikes perhaps because the description calls everyone a crybaby for not wanting actual footage. People will dislike your video if the thumb looks exciting, you click on it, and its just a bunch of still photos. Deceiving the viewer gets downvotes.

  • @SR71U2ube the other video states in the title that it is audio

  • @SR71U2ube i like your user name

  • @dragonxanimation Thanks! ;D inspired by my friends in the program.

  • @SR71U2ube not sure about your profile, but i cant see how well a video is liked/disliked before i click on it. So this statement seems rather ignorant.

  • I remember, growing up in Iowa (fly over country) hearing that double thud, tells you how old I am.

  • I just want everyone to know that every time this plane was at speed or moving to get at speed they were on a mission no test videos have been put out there or declassified it is rare to even hear the sonic boom from the amazing aircraft so quit crying...

  • Grrrrr lame video that lied in the description I clicked on. No wonder it's got 967 dislikes.

  • Flagged!

  • 9 heat rings in afterburner....that's some serious shit right there

  • The 71 is just pure sex.

  • @Supermassively i agree

  • @Supermassively Amen, brotha!

  • @Supermassively time it took you to click the video, 1 second, time it took you to realize it was a fake and stop the video, 6 seconds, time it took you to right the 78 word comment with 6 punctuation marks, 19 CAPITAL letters, and 2 insulting words, 3 minutes, time it took me to read your comment, 10 seconds, time it took me to write this run on sentance,5 minutes. time it would have taken you to click another fake video, 1 second, you see, when we complain, we all lose haha,

  • @moviepreviews21 It would take you three minutes to write what I wrote? Holy shit, that's slow.

  • @Supermassively oh i just assumed you had disabilities and thought that it might have taken you a while to write what your wrote.

look at how much time you're spending on this video now!! You have already come back for a second time!

  • @moviepreviews21 You've come back as often as I have. Try having a life before you accuse someone of lacking one for spending a grand total of two minutes commenting on a video. Pathetic.

  • @Supermassively I happen to like the video, just seeing pictures of the plane was fun. but im not the one complaining so much about the video, you hated the video in the first place, yet you keep coming back, it would have taken you 5 seconds to switch the video, yet you have spent 2 minutes on it instead, you could have watched the video 2 and a half times.

  • @moviepreviews21 Doesn't make you any less pathetic than you claim I am for coming back here to respond. Or you could man up and retract that statement and not look like a mindless, hypocritical shithead.

  • @Supermassively pathetic is a strong word, look at how angry you are getting, if you just had skipped the video instead of writing a comment, you wouldnt have to even be here, yet now you keep coming back. ironic. I dont feel like im being hypocritical either, or a shithead, im trying to be friendly. If we all minded less, this world would be better, dont you think? No matter what happy holidays!

  • @Supermassively lmfao

  • @Supermassively calm the shit down...this is good enough dumbshit

  • @samthelittleman1 No, it fucking sucks.

  • @Supermassively ur high...get a life

  • @samthelittleman1 Clearly YOU are high if you actually think this is a good video. And I've got one, thank you.

  • @Supermassively i'd like to see u get some footage....ya i dont think sooo...its at 70,000 feet ur not gonna see it dumbshit

  • @samthelittleman1 Yeah, because they can't fly below 70,000 feet. Tell me you're not really that stupid.

  • @Supermassively ur really a dumbass...u complain about other ppls videos and u don't even have shit...now u really need to GET A LIFE

  • @samthelittleman1 HAHA! I see you gave up on that bullshit argument pretty quickly.

  • @Supermassively o ur funny

  • @Supermassively you are a fucking dumbass that has no intellegents when it comes to aircraft, these airplanes move soooooooo fast you couldnt get them on film, so think befor you open your dumbass mouth agine.

  • @zero48411 LOL! Before you try to insult someone's INTELLIGENCE, you should probably learn how to spell "intelligence", so you don't look like a fucking moron.

They move "soooooooo fast"? So they are constantly in motion? There is no acceleration or deceleration? They're always moving at Mach 5? Don't be an idiot. They can maintain aerodynamic control just fine at 300 MPH.

Could YouTube users possibly get any more retarded?

  • sooo the have 2 booms like the space shuttle ?

  • Epic.

  • you should put "just audio" or something in the title. This could be anything, although I don't doubt that they are sonic booms. Kind of a lazy video.

  • Nice pics... These are typically referred to as Shock Diamonds (the shock wave being more frequently used to describe the wave coming off of the entire aircraft). In these first pictures, the jet blast is supersonic. The boundary between engine exhaust and free air is like a wall. Once the supersonic exhaust flow leaves the engine exhaust nozzle, a shockwave is formed. It "ricochets" off the free air boundary ad infinitum, forming beautiful "diamonds."

  • The double bang! Sounds just like the concord. Amazing!

  • Chuck Norris was farting.

  • gtfo you faggot trying to get views you useless cunt

  • yall think this is fake haha well yall are wrong in the video description it says SR-71 Sonic Booms and geuss what these are actually the sonic booms!!

  • u suck so bad

  • Comment removed

  • Imagine how much lighter Youtube would be if it wasn't weighted down with brick videos like this. Who cares about a game?

  • @headcase01 it is not a game you idiot this is actual recordings of the blackbird over a dessert...

  • @alexjamaalstraughn "this is" = "these are". And a 'dessert' is something you eat after dinner. A desert (one S) is the hot place with sand. Who's the idiot?

I see CG graphics, so I figured it was yet another lamer game clip. I would apologize to you, but something tells me you might have trouble with 4 syllable words.

  • @headcase01 i would have accepted that apology but.....nvm dont have time to waste on stupid stuff......main point, there is no footage that i know of of this aircraft flying at 80k Ft(and i would think its impossible to catch it on the ground (not sure if they would have tried recording it from another plane) only going on my opinions though(yes i more or less ignored your comment about me and my spelling,, its the internet so f i feel lke misspellin i can no1 can stp me >:-D

  • @alexjamaalstraughn You don't have time to accept an apology, but you have time to type a 7 line run-on sentence? Good thing I didn't offer one then. And no, you didn't ignore my comment, because you replied to it. Keep going, this might actually be entertaining for the rest of the audience.

  • @headcase01 yep your right sorry about that but... i was only saying that getting an actual footage of this would be impossible saying its going at mach 3 and its at 80k Ft (i think), which you probably know by now. best any of us would get is to hear these rare sounds, we should at lease be thankful to even hear how awesome it is

  • what a joke.............

  • Yeah, good luck trying to focus on an SR-71 moving at mach 3. Not to mention how high it is -- around 70,000 feet, you wouldn't even know it's there.

  • @MediaNexus In fact it was built to be fast and not visible ;o)

  • @MediaNexus Yeah, because it's not like you couldn't fly another SR-71 next to it with a film camera...

  • Comment removed

  • @MediaNexus imagine the SR-71 doing a 500 foot flyby mach 3

  • @MediaNexus Try around 80,000 feet. 70,000 is around where the U-2 would fly.

  • @Death1458100 Big whoop, 10,000 feet. although that's still significant, nobody really cares

  • @GuitarFxable As the aircraft's speed nears the speed of sound, the air hitting the leading edges is compressed, squished together. Think about the sound of a balloon popping, as the compressed air is suddenly released. As the aircraft exceeds the speed of sound, a shockwave of this compressed air is formed around it in a cone shape. Boom.

  • Ahh...this website is for VIDEOS...moving pictures. Epic fail here guy.

  • I remember hearing these when I was a kid living in SW Missouri. There I hink were stationed in Wichita at the time and would hit super sonic over my area.

  • @GuitarFxable Try the internet. Or rather wikipedia. Do I have to explain what it is or how to find it? (j/k)

  • Is this what you would hear from the ground? Kinda scary. Imagine if this thing was armed with ordinance.

  • i remember as a little 4 year old the sr-71 flying overhead approaching DC.

the sonic booms were much more numerous and thunderous at that point (in northern virginia).

  • March 6, 1990, the only time there was a continuous sonic boom across the country when a Blackbird covered the 2400 miles between LA and Washington in only 67 minutes! God Bless Clarence Johnson.

  • @GuitarFxable from what i know it is when (the jet) brakes the sound barrier and exceeds a speed over about 1000 KPH

  • @Cordang96 and passes the speed of sound

  • the sound of a legend :)

  • jajajaja 133 people are blind jajajaja

  • @pepevoyeur Shut the fuck up.

  • wish the A-12 happened!!

  • Well, when I go on one of the biggest VIDEO networks I plan to see a fucking video you fucking idiot.

  • Very cool recordings. I don't get all these hate comments...

  • haha love it the guys in moscow had to sit and listen to that knowing they could do NOTHING about it.

  • @1Gaumer Oh, yeah!

The guys in Moscow had to sit and listen to this guy farting in the microphone knowing they could do NOTHING besides smelling. XP

  • This video is misleading. misleading video is misleading. thumbs down

  • If you don't have the actual footage don't post a freaking video.

  • Gaylord

  • A Lightsaber coming on!

  • OoOoOoh! Pictures of a airplane! And you blowing into a microphone to boot!

  • For all you lazy whiners,

may I offer you a full refund?

Since you can obviously do better,

why don't you go for it?

IT WAS FOR THE AUDIO OF THE SONIC BOOMS!

    Read the description-

    if you can even read...

  • @jetpoweredgriffin The only lazy person is the uploader of this video who was too lazy to specify that this was "Audio only" in the title. A 12 year old can put together a better video.

  • @nmstew1

Well, you're 26 and you have zero uploads-

    according to your own account.

Get off your lazy tail and make&load something!

    Typical...

  • @jetpoweredgriffin I am lazy because I dont have any uploads? More like I am busy because I am an adult with a real job. I come on youtube to watch videos, i dont have the time to edit and upload videos, however I guess I could if my videos were 48 seconds long, had two pictures in them, and a misleading title. And a 12 year old can put together a better video because at 12 you have nothing more important to do.

  • Comment removed

  • @jetpoweredgriffin Whoa there were 3 pics? Wow, my bad I was totally wrong about this video it is so awesome because it has 3 pics instead of 2. By the way, I dont have to work the day after Thanksgiving, I am getting paid to sit here and listen to you try and defend a horrible youtube video with a terrible title. This is fun for me. By the way, the comment you removed had an error so I am going to use your logic which means you can't type or spell.

  • if i wanted to see pics of the plane i would have googled imaged the air craft

  • This is the biggest waste of time... video game pictures and what 3 pictures total??? are you 5? good video bro

  • fucking asshole

  • this sucks donkey dick

  • asshole!!!!!!!

  • Its about the sound dickhead Its says sonic booms not video Bogans you have to deal with

  • dude even so its not actual footage the pictures are of great quality and were awesome

  • nice lightsaber- oh never mind that's just the dislike bar!

  • @cdixon37 how original... fucker

  • Haha goverment we can see your experimental boosters.

  • This video sucks

  • enemy SR-71 above

  • @seanzabhoy1888 Lag Ops ?
