  • @vesselcommander sorry my other comments weren't working for some reason. then all of a sudden they all did at once lol deleted the other ones

  • Just goes to show how many words a dog can understand, and that's not the half of it! :)

  • She said "Give me a treat already. What is this, slave labor?" in dog Welsh.

  • Great dog! can't wait till im out of school and have my own place to get a cardigan welsh corgi awesome breed!

  • Teach her "where the hell are my keys". She could learn it she is smart.

  • How did you teach her the "bounce" command?

  • I really like how you use different words for opposite actions like right and left leg but some tricks don't look perfected yet (though it is always where they do the trick a million times right off camera then minute camera is on they mess up :( my pup is same way)

  • i realy want a corgi but they too expencive

  • she got the leash the second time cus u pointed 2 it lol

  • Better then nintendogs!

  • Zoey is awesome, how do you teach her all of the tricks?

  • I like her 'running commentary' on your activities! My dog is not very talkative, but she also has a habit of 'buzzing' when she's excited about training.

  • wheres your leash is one great fricking trick

  • Amazing! You have inspired me to work more with my Cardi, Sophie. She's really smart, too!

  • is this dog good for apartments? THanks! CUte vdeo!

  • I want this dog!! Too cute!

  • Good god! That is so well trained! I loved the Leash one :D Fantastic haha

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!So cute! I've got two cats from Siam (Tiland) They're siamese cats I love your cardi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so intelligent and happy!

  • oh so cute i want one but blonde

  • Adorable I wish i had a Cardigan Welsh Corgi

  • She back talks to you!!! When you say get up on it; it sounds like she's "saying I don't wanna!" My corgi does that all the time!! :)

  • wow very good... you're a good trainor.. and very smart dog

  • Thanks! Zoey is definitely a very smart little dog!

  • @CardiCorgiOwner You must spend a lot of time with your dog.

  • @CardiCorgiOwner The more I look at your pup, The more I see almost full cardigan in my little guy. I still think my little guy - Luke - has abit of Jack russel, but not much. I really love the coat your little girl has that is absolutly beautiful.

    Larry

  • The leash trick was pretty easy to teach--I laid the leash on the ground and then told her to 'take it' (her command for putting something in her mouth). I use a clicker to train with, so I'd click her the moment she put her mouth on the leash. I then just changed my command from a generic 'take it' to a more specific word, i.e. "leash".

  • Wow! What a clever little girl!

Your Cardi is simply amazing! :) x

    [Rated 5 Stars]

  • Thanks for the 5 star rating! Zoey is a very clever dog--she's among the smartest I know!!

  • Totally adorable and very clever!!!!

  • Thanks! She's a very, very good dog!

  • My Cardi is called Ruby ..x

  • And I have a "Rugby"

  • Mine is also named Zoey, Everyone names their Corgi's Zoey.

  • Nice!!!

  • this is awesome! i have a pembroke welsh corgi named zoey also

  • Zoey is always anticipating the command...tis, tis =p.

  • nutz

  • I love this! Our puppy Nibbler talks back to us when we talk to her. It cracks me up! All she knows right now is "sit" "go get it" and "drop it".

  • I wish my cardigan boomer could do that!!! all he can do is beg and roll over lmfao :D this is sooo adorable!

  • hahaha love this dog. lol it sounds like hes sayin ''i unno''

  • your Corgi's lovely.. mine died 10/10/08 he was a good dog.. and.. he did alot of tricks, too =3.. started training him when i was but four years old..

  • Super tricks!

  • Thanks! Zoey is a real character for sure!

  • This is awesome!! very cute dog.

  • Thanks--I think she's pretty cute...

  • She seems like a chatty dog, BTW. Lots of little "buzzes" as she shows her tricks to you.

  • Yes--'buzz' is her favorite command!

  • Extremely charming (and impressive!).

My favorites included "Where's your leash?" and "Get up on it." Also "Bow" just because the combination of the sprightly intonation and the little Corgi bowing was so cute.

  • Thanks! I love her 'back-talking' throughout the routine. She has opinions about everything!

  • I love that leash trick! A very well trained Corgi! I love the way she was barking the whole way through with excitement. I think she wanted a treat! I am looking to get a Corgi puppy myself. No luck with breeders yet...

  • Very cute dog. I have a Corgi terrier mix. I also have to repeat commands to get her to do certain tricks. Is this fairly common in the Corgi breeds?

  • I have been in four obedience courses and one agility course with my corgi cross breed. She listens a bit better than other dogs, probably because she is really intelligent. I think corgis can be one of the most obedient dogs, but if my dog is not in the mood she makes these noises too.

  • Your dog is amazing! I wish my corgi could do one of those tricks on comand. Zoey has talent!

  • wow that is such a smart dog!!!!! i have a corgi mix and he can do maybe 50% of what your dog can do.

  • probably because you haven't trained him to do the other stuff. Most dogs can be trained to do the majority of tricks; success usually depends on how much patience and persistence the owner has.

  • Neat, I'll have to try animating a Corgi in a video or two:)

  • That is quite remarkable!! Kudos on the excellent training. I think my dog Millie is a CWC mix of some sort and she is so stubborn. I think I just need to work with her more. Thanks for posting this awesome video!

  • i had a pembroke for a while before my sister took him back. i really liked him i think he has great potential. i taught him sit within just 4 days. my sister might be getting rid of him and im very upset about that :(

  • i like how you used paw/foot and spin/twist. very smart!

  • I really have no clue what a clicker dog trainer thingy is plz comment my page saying what a clicker is and why you do it. .i was wondering could you use a snapple cap. like if you click the clicker does it make your pet happy? or like what. because i have no clue what it is and im interested.please comment my page with answers.

  • i loved that video! i want a welsh corgi so bad!

  • That's really cute! :)

  • I love Cardigans! They are the best! Zoey looks just like my Cardie

  • Sheesh, my pembroke barely knows sit! She won't do anything unless there's a treat involved.

  • OMFG. awesome. My dog barely knows how to sit.

  • aw sweet! congratulations for the training :)

  • How did you train your corgi to do this? I am getting one soon and would like mine to be just as obedient and entertaining.

  • Aw! That's so cute! At some times it seemed like she was giving a little sas but she did all of the tricks! So, so cute.

  • man. I love how the dog thinks there's food behind you... that's the only way we can get our corg to do anything.

  • Amazing training skills! When I get a dog, remind me to pester you with lots of questions LOL.

  • Cute video! I like how Zoey seems to "talk" to you after you utter a command! (Maybe she's saying yes mom?)

  • OMG!! I love your little Zoey! My Ranger - family Cardigan - is fat and can only sit, shake, and speak.

You're a master trainer and Corgi's are the best by far!

  • Thanks!! I agree that Corgis are the BEST!!!!

  • Zoey is just totally gorgeous and really clever! What a little angel! She's SUCH a good girl - I love her! You're doing a great job with her, thanks for a lovely video!

  • oh how cute! I have a corgi too but he's not a cardigan he's a pembroke. ;)

  • Thanks! I adore all Corgis...they are all so smart and sassy!

  • Did you teach this to her your self or did you go to dogy class? Im getting a Pembroke Welsh Corgi before November or in November Im so excited!!! Do they bark alot? And Do they usually bond to 1 person??? Just asking & how much do u think they weigh when there adult size? Please reply thanks...

  • they dont reali bark that much, only if you are training them to bark or exciting them. I own my Cardi and she loves me the most becoz i train her, but they do love all the family. corgi's are a peoples dog.

  • my friend has one

    it can play basketball :D

  • I have one that can play basketball too!

  • how friggin precious :D

    i want one bad

  • Wow absolutely amazing dog you have there! Is there much difference personality-wise between the cardigan and pembroke corgis? My husband and I have been thinking about getting one. Any advice you have would be appreciated!

  • Thanks for the compliment about Zoey...I think she's pretty special myself! I have never owned a Pembroke so it's difficult for me to speak about the differences between the two breeds. Pembrokes are, however, much more popular than Cardis so they are easier to come by. A lot of people also think Pembrokes are cuter because of their rounder ears and 'softer' features.

  • Very good. I hope my corgi will take a few hints from Zoey.

  • Thanks! Zoey is the smartest of my three Corgis (don't tell my other two I said that). They are a blast to train, although they can certainly test your patience at times!

  • How do u train her becoming so AMAZING???? i am still in the process to housetrain my corgi...tedious! ur so great in dog training!!!!

  • Zoey is a great dog to work with. She's very smart. Corgis can be trying at times...if you keep working with yours and using positive reinforcement with it, I bet it will learn just as many things as Zoey knows!

  • thanks for the motivation.i guess so, yeah the time consume for each doggies will be various, need patiences and ample effort, but worth all the way! thanks!

  • i really want to teach my corgi pup some tricks like that!!

  • great corgi! and her bark is so cute and it seems that she is conveying some message there..adorable puppy!

  • What an amazingly smart and funny Corgi. Thank you for sharing this with us.

  • Thanks! I think Zoey is pretty amazing myself. She is SO smart. I adore her. Thanks for watching our video!

  • your Zoe is absolutly adorable !

  • Thanks! I think she's wonderful!!

  • Good Job-- Cardi's are so smart-- I love that you took the time to train her to this level!!

I should send you a couple... VBG!!!

  • Thanks! Zoey is definitely the smartest of my three Cardis...I call her my little Border Collie in disguise ;-)

She's a great performance dog, albeit a little heavy on 'attitude' sometimes, which occasionally interferes with getting those "Q's", but I wouldn't trade her for the world!

  • Very smart dog, I wish my beagle was trained like that

  • Thanks! Zoey is pretty smart...and she LOVES to learn stuff. She would like it if I taught her something new every day! Beagles are wonderful dogs, aren't they?

  • Wow your dog is amazing! I have a corgi and he only knows how to sit. We got him when he was 4 years old and he hates it when we leave. His previous owner was never really home so he was alone most of the time. He barks whenever you move because he thinks you are going to leave him.

  • Thanks! I think Zoey is pretty smart, although I'm pretty biased ;-)

It sounds like your corgi is pretty smart too...he hates to be alone and let's you know it!! Glad you enjoyed our video!

  • I love the way she talks to you, reminds me a lot of my cardigan/sheltie mix. Like Zoey, he always looks me straight in the eye when he "talks," as if he expects me to understand exactly what he's talking about.

  • She's my sassy, back-talking, always-gets-the-last-word-in girl. I adore her talking, although sometimes I wish she didn't do QUITE so much of it ;-)

  • What a great video! I've got three cardis of my own-- they are definitely the best dogs. :-) Zoey is a great example of how clever they are. I love how she talks her way through all of her tricks!

  • I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Zoey and I enjoyed making it ;-)

I call Zoey's talking, 'sassying' and she loves to 'sass' me all day long. She figures she is always right and I'm pretty much always wrong. Such is life with Cardis! And yes, they ARE the best dogs!!

  • Zoey is very clever! :)

  • Thanks! She is a pretty smart girl. She loves to learn new stuff. I'm teaching her to play piano and ride a skateboard now. Hopefully I'll have video of that posted soon :-0

  • This is so cute! But I have a question; how old was she when you got her? I have a three month old Cardigan Welsh Corgi I just adopted from an animal shelter, and I love him, but he can be so frustrating. Are Cardis usually really rambunctious puppies?

  • Hi!

Zoey was eight weeks old when I got her. She was definitely a rambunctious puppy! At three years old, she's still a very rambunctious dog! I do agility and obedience with her (as well as trick training) and she also has a treadmill (see our other videos for examples of all the stuff I have to do with her to wear her out).

Cardis are GREAT dogs but they definitely need jobs to do to keep from getting bored. Good luck with your puppy; it's wonderful you adopted him from a shelter!!

  • Oh you two are adorable! What desire Zoey has to please you! It's great to see such a bond! Our tri-color corgi is very young still, but learning her tricks before she goes into agility (with any luck she'll do well and have fun too).

Much corgi happiness :) Keep up the fun!

  • Thank you!!! Yes, Zoey does love to please me! And she loves to WORK!!! She's a lot of fun.

Good luck with your training. Zoey is an agility dog too...check out our other videos for some of her agility runs...she enjoys agility almost as much as she enjoys doing tricks! Thanks for watching our videos!

  • Your little Zoey is adorable! I hope to have a cardigan of my own someday! Right now I have an english mastiff and a saint bernard.

  • Oh thanks! I'm biased of course, but I think she's pretty adorable myself!

I was pretty sure I would own either a Saint Bernard or Newfoundland when I got my first dog, but ended up with Cardis instead! Thanks for writing!

  • Zoey is awesome! What a little talker! Love how she went and bumped the clicker with her nose. I used to sooo enjoy your column in Front & Finish. Wish we lived closer, but come visit at cardiparty dot blogspot dot com.

  • Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video! Nice to know you enjoyed the "F&F" column too! Didn't know anyone remembered me from that! I enjoyed your blog (especially your recent post on your high drive boy).

Incidently, all my old columns, along with a few new ones, are on my website at caridgan-corgis dot com. Just look for "Stories about Disobedient Corgis" link! Enjoy!

  • Corgis are so smart that you can start training them as soon as you get them! Zoey was learning to 'sit' and 'stand' when she was just 8 weeks old!

  • Hi, nice video!!! I'm about to receive a corgi puppy & wanna know when to start training corgi in doing such fantastic things.

  • Hi

    Great Video

can you tell me where you got that spinning thing for your dog to jump? I think my corgi could use one of those.

    Jill

  • I got it at "Target" (the chain store). It was in the children's toy section. I don't remember the actual name of it. It's been a great way to exercise her!

  • Thanks! She's a super smart little dog. And very enthusiastic about her training!

  • Wow. That's a lot of work. Congratulations.
