@ikuzak2009 Well if HERO's was shit and Aoki was so good, he should have been able to finish the fight. The truth is Caol Uno has amazing sub defense.

I pointed out American MMA besting Aoki because your gloating over how great Aoki is compared to Uno makes you sound ignorant. If anyone could be considered a representative of the late PRIDE, it would be a well-rounded fighter like Sakurai, Gomi, or Kawajiri. Not someone who is great on the ground and pathetic everywhere else like Aoki.

@TheTerrorUforgot its not really american mma. its all mma. gilbert melendez is one of the best fighters in the world and arguably number one. there is no shame in shinya aoki who is a top 5 fighter losing to arguable the best LW on the planet.why does a defunct organization need a representative??? clearly aoki is better than all those fighters listed anyways. sakurai is past his prime and the only reason he beat aoki is the size advantage. aoki>kawajiri and gomi easily.

@KidMilly I completely disagree. Aoki is completely one-dimensional, and the only chance he has of winning against Gomi or Kawajiri is latching onto a leg and working a submission right away.

They're better representatives of the late PRIDE organization (which was the only world lvl MMA org in Japan) because they actually make attempts to be well-rounded. Aoki hyper trains in one skill and can catch Kawajiri in it, but his level of ground skill (all he has) still can't compete on the world lvl.

As big of an Aoki fan as i am if it went to the ground Penn would be on top, and Penn is the worst fighter in mma to have on top of you, he will pass your guard he will take your back and 95% of the time he will choke you, doesnt matter who you are.

and what you think that aoki would beat penn? if you analyze fighters for how they fight it would be obvious bj penn would win. even sean sherk could beat aoki. Aoki is so one dimensional, all he has is bjj, he has no wrestling, and no standup or kicks. bj penn is much more experienced, stronger, and his bjj is amazing also. he would smother aoki, and pin him and keep the pressure and punch him.

the chances of Aoki catching Penn in a submission, a so very silm. Penn has never been submitted, he is amazing at BJJ. Aoki on the other hand has absolutley nothing to offer except judo, and BJJ and thats not gonna help when the BJ is on top of him pinning him down and beating his face, if he even takes it to the ground. Aoki isnt that good hes way to one dimensional, and now BJ is in crazy shape, hes never looked the way he does now in his training.
