  • @boomer5901 at the risk of getting into a whole discussion, I would like to correct you on a couple things. First, G-d does NOT create us in a state of perfection, because we're destined to learn & grow through our lives here. Simplicity & obliviousness are not states of perfection. Far from it. Furthermore, you're implying that if we're born perfect, then learning free will brings us to a state of IMperfection. Second, I don't know where you get the idea that as newborns we have... Cont'd.

  • @deepmind no concept of free will. That's pure conjecture. Free will is the power to choose between right & wrong, not necessarily the WISDOM to make that choice. A newborn simply doesn't have so many such weighty decisions to make, but it certainly has the perception of pleasurable & painful. That is the beginning of differentiating between right & wrong, though as we grow, our definitions become more sophisticated & mature.

Our fair blogger here seems to be arguing FOR simplicity &... Cont'd.

  • @deepmind obliviousness, though, because she perceives the nature vs. nurture discussion as a threat to her community.

  • Girl you are so right. They ( the right wing Christian conservatives) grasp at anything to keep fighting. It should't matter what causes "it", they are wrong.

But at the same time we need to realize that they will not change their minds. They have to much to loose.

  • Unless it impacts on my life I couldn`t care less

  • @candiceevans1

Yes! someone who thinks consistently and knows their Bible... Praise God! It's just sad how rare it is to come across.. God bless

  • YOUR NOT BORN GAY, YOU ARE NOT CREATED GAY!!! Being gay is a conscious and or sub-conscious choice based on environmental variables. Your not born gay, you can't be born to prefer a certain thing over another. This whole "gays are born that way," is a bunch of bull.

  • It is not anti'gay. It is God's law. She doesn't want to know, because there are ramifications for voluntarily living in sin. I don't "hate" gay people, but I will never accept anything that is against God's law. I hope that that side of the argument can also be understood.

  • You say it's the mind and heart that matter, not the body. So I assume you're fine with pedophiles then right? Actually they are just sexually attracted to children. What if they then act on that attraction. You'd have to say that's fine because it's their heart and mind that trumps their body. So here you have a 40 year old man and a 5 year old girl. He is attracted and feels love toward this little girl. Your consistent logic would require you to see this relationship fit. Lets hope not though

  • @TrueBeliever2010, of course, you're being absurd and irrational. No sane person would try to make a correlation between consensual, loving relationships between adults, and raping children. Why do anti-gay lunatics always try this idiotic tactic? The vast majority of pedophiles are heterosexual-identifying men who abuse little girls. By your "logic", heterosexuality would be evil. let's try and stay within the realm of reality, what do you say?

  • @GodCreatesGays2 What about a 16 year old boy and a 50 year old woman? Heterosexuality is not evil because that is How God created it to be. It is not a coincidence that a penis and vagina fit together perfectly, and is also the only way to procreate. You know that argument is foolish, you just don't want to be "mean" and "unfair" to gays. Everyone has to be sensitive, right?

  • @f8thnjc demands, "What about a 16 year old boy and a 50 year old woman?"

What about them? Heteros have long been prone to inappropriate sexual behavior, it's no secret.

"Heterosexuality is not evil because that is How God created it to be"

Right. He created heterosexuality for str8 people, just like He created homosexuality for the gays. Neither of His creations are evil.

"a penis and vagina fit together perfectly"

Just like a penis fits perfectly into an anus, where God put men's G spots.

  • @f8thnjc continues, "is also the only way to procreate. You know that argument is foolish"

Yes, the anti-gays who trot out the "procreation" argument are foolish, because breeding is not now, nor has it ever been, a criterion for equal rights.

"you just don't want to be "mean" and "unfair" to gays."

Following the Lord's example, I would indeed never want to be mean and unfair to any of His children.

"Everyone has to be sensitive, right?"

If we love God & want to honor Him, yes.

  • @GodCreatesGays2 You are one sick person. Show me in the Bible where He made gays. I can show you many places where He speaks of what an abomination it is. It is a choice. A choice you will have to live with FOREVER.

  • @f8thnjc brays, "You are one sick person."

How very telling that you melt down & resort to name-calling, simply because I accept God's will & truth over man's ignorance & prejudice. Your faith in your lifestyle must be very weak.

"Show me in the Bible where He made gays."

As previously explained, the Bible is error-laden & borne from men's agenda. If you still can't understand this, my reiterating the facts again would be pointless.

    "It is a choice."

Yes, accepting God's will IS my choice.

  • @GodCreatesGays2 And he said unto them, In what place soever ye enter into an house, there abide till ye depart from that place. And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment, than for that city. Mark 6:10-11 I shake off the dust...and pray for your soul.

  • @f8thnjc sobs, "I shake off the dust...and pray for your soul."

If you rise up from the dirt and turn towards the Lord's light, you will be washed clean, and have no dirt to shake off. Only He can make you clean, if you repent in time and turn to Him. Your myths and hubris comfort you now, but will doom you in the end. One day, perhaps, you will allow the Lord to enter your heart and show you the way. Good luck!

  • If you think He wants 'them', then you should ask the same for every other so called rebellious creature. Why would God want murderers or rapists? Thieves or abortion doctors? Your logic is not coherent. If He wants ANY then he wants them all. And if they ALL shall exist, they would all perish the Earth, for they would not procreate, as He commanded us to do. To spread our species all over the world to worship Him. That is obviously impossible for a homosexual. I'm sorry, but your logic stinks.

  • You kinda look like Rachel Maddow. (That's a compliment ;)

  • If God exists, and He does, then He (as the sovereign Creator and ruler of everything) defines what is and isn't love. And what is and isn't marriage. He defines gender roles and He defines morality. Our subjective opinion matters nothing. Whether you view it as love is irrelevant. If God's definition contradicts yours then what you have isn't love but rebellion. The next question to ask is, "Has He spoken?" If He has how has He spoken?

  • you say that you like that saying. well How Many Murderers Must God Create Before We Accept That He Wants Them Around?

  • The subjective is irrefutable? Now there's some logic for ya. Very typical of the gay movement.

  • Everything you say is sooo beautifully spoken Sama :D

  • Awww you look so happy! :))

I think that is a good point, I could see it becoming a dividing factor in the LGBT community, just like lighter and darker skin became a divider with in the African American community.

But as ClarkFamilyFuneral asks, I second: Are you personally speaking or do you not believe science should investigate? Because though I agree with the fact that it could become a problem in the LGBT community, it is something that can also be used outside of that community to bring

  • about acceptance to those who are prejudice and overly religious, etc. Though it shouldn't take that, I know, it is something that should be researched in my opinion just as something to know. If someone is curious, as many many others are, their questions should be answered. I completely agree with your point and would fear that possible division, but I also see the need and pressured want for answers, and I must admit that I myself am very curious.

  • And also, I don't think it at all discredits your love or affection, it's just a fact. Fact: I'm straight, I very much adore my boyfriend, but just because I know I'm straight and I had more of a likelihood falling in love with him verse my attractive female friend does not take away from how much I care and want him.

  • Are you saying that you personally do not want to know, or that science in general should just not approach the nature of homosexuality?

  • If you do accept the chrisitian idea of god (which i do not), then how can you say that god would create people destined for hell. If he is all loving, than he would love people enough to not see them go to hell. If he is omnipotent, than he has the ability to stop them from going to hell. So how can a large group have predetermined eternal damnation if god loves them and has the ability to help them? By christian logic of a omnipotent all loving god, homosexuality cant logically be wrong.

  • You pop up as the next video on fb after Simon's video. lol You did on my wall anyway. I am so happy for you and Julie. Sharon & I have been together for over 15 years! I don't like labels, but do catch myself using them. I was born this way. I was nurtured by great parents. They are str8. They raised a Lesbian daughter. Nurture? Not! All I can say is I didn't wake up 1 day and deside I would be a lesbian. None of my Str8 friends could change if they wanted to. Point.. we r what we r!

  • Hi Sama,I think people get confused by wanting to lable people.I think people get very confused.Love is an emotion but its older than that, the american belief in god we trust,if you are a christian god is love, true love is putting yourself last and helping others, without love we are all helpless.lol tamsin cornwall england uk

  • I agree with you totally. The nature v. nurture question basically says: "We'll give the gays a pass if they can prove there's nothing they can do to change themselves. It's unfortunate they're LGBT, but if it's immutable, I suppose we can give them some rights."

But Rep. Simon's speech wasn't entertaining the debate. It simply talked about nature as if it was already a foregone conclusion, and implied God created us equal to other people. And that one quote of his is absolutely beautiful.

  • @Islander255 Regarding your last paragraph... I agree with you. And I agree that his quote is totally beautiful and true. More ppl should try to look at all in that same light.

    SpeakTruer

  • You state this really well. While science will still march on and try to settle the nature/nurture debate, that doesn't change the fact there are real people in love out there, and those loves need to be cherished just as much as anyone else's.

  • @ShaleForce Thank you, I appreciate your comment. :)

  • Very well put. While I feel that Representative Steve Simon's speech was a great message, I feel that yours was better. So I'm sharing your video rather than his. I'm proud that there are people that see beyond the black and white of the situation, as we all should. We are who we are and that's all there is and should be to it.

  • @coffeeshopjournalist I love both coffee shops and journals. :) Thank you for sharing, that's very kind of you! And, I agree with you, that's all there needs to be, really.

  • 1. i agree with you... nature v nurture is a moot point.

    2. i'm an atheist so "god" (small g) is not part of my equation anyway.

    3. i LOVE that you are "gaily" in love ;) what a perfect declaration !

    4. is that a dali clock behind you on the book shelf?.... if so..... kool.

  • @jcmti :D Thanks x4!

  • I appreciate the fact that you noticed that he has to choose his words wisely it is an uphill battle for the Lbgt community always has been but if he changes even 1 mind I feel his statements although very wrought with political spin the message was still clear live and let live. life is to short and a god of your own understanding loves you and I or he/she would have not created us "in their own image"

  • @herschellk Well stated, thanks for chiming in. :)

  • : ) awesome video.

  • @PaperStory Thank you for watching and commenting! :)

  • Well put!!!

  • @SleepingAncient Thank you!!! :)

  • I love that quote!! It doesn't matter one bit if it is nature or nuture. Love just IS!!! A long time ago I used to hold the stance that I wouldn't have ever chosen to be a lesbian because of being discriminated against, and such. But now that I've been with my WIFE for over two years, I would have gladly chosen her...she is my everything. We can't change who we fall in love with.

  • @PaintedRavensong And why would we? :D Yeah, love!

  • If they find out that it's "nurture" that will have no baring on who I am. I'm queer for whatever reason and I'm happy being so.

  • @TheLaughingOut Yeah! :D

  • I loved that speach...I thought it was one of the best responses to the hate that comes out of anit Gay people.

  • @depfox Me too, I just resist so wholeheartedly the nature v. nurture evaluation by science or religion.
