8:54 Finished the last sentence of my extensive essay. 9:03 I literally FLY out. Less than 1 minute till class. 9:06 RUN!! Class is on the entire side of the large courtyard. 9:12 OH NO! Swarms of students flood the courtyard creating a massive impenetrable wall of people. 9:18 I daringly jump on top to try to run on top of the mob. 9:32 OH NO! I slipped & fell down into the under toe of the crowd. 9:38 Teacher at the door about to close the door. 10:04 - end I emerge & make the final sprint....
Granted, it's every film composer's dream to write for a film of this size. Not all get the same training, or if they do, the same results from that training.
But the fact is, not all of them are cut out for the job, regardless of the fact that they really wanted to do it, or that they can write notes on paper. It's not just writing notes. I I'm no film composer, but if I could write music, I could definitely best David Arnold.
Whatever....I'm not wasting my time here anymore...the "Aslan's Camp" theme was repeated, but NOT in a repetitive, boring, way every five minutes...Leaving...to listen to real music...
I'm curious... why are we ranting about composers when we could be listening to amazing music? :P Just wondering... BECAUSE THIS STUFF IS THE DEFINITION OF MAGICAL.
I also love how, despite the million anti-Arnold comments here, NO ONE has disliked this video.
@everyone praising David Arnold's "Wonderful music"
Pffft...The soundtrack was NOT awesome! David Arnold is NOT cut out for Narnia! He ruined it! He does NOT know how to interweave good themes. He DOES know how to write random frenzied notes for intense moments, and how to repeat a few themes over and over with litle variation, and put generic "fill-in" score in-between.
This music has absolutley no continuity or flow.
In one word: dross, like so many movie scores these days!
@blondiepianist I'd like to strongly disagree with this comment. First of all, Gregson-Williams' music was repetitive, too! The 'To Aslan's Camp' theme is heard EVERYWHERE in the first two movies. At least in VDT, you've got a couple themes going. And as I've said before, this is an entirely different setting, and two main characters are gone. The music Williams wrote isn't fit for sea. This music has a more oceanic sound to it. Learn to back your arguments, or don't argue at all.
The sea serpent was SCARY with that hideous face, all those centipede-like feelers, the high-pitched shrieks... You also really got the idea that this was a monster of pure primal ferocity - a real contrast to Eustace as a dragon, where you could sense the warmth and likeability of his true self.
@Trainman471 Him, too. :P YouTube only allows so many characters, ya know. But yes, it's central to the main characters that are still there. I just wish people would stop ratting on Arnold. It's stupid. Yes, Gregson-Williams was EPIC. But so is Arnold!!
I think you should say EVERYONE stop ratting on Arnold. Pffft...He's just another wannabe generic composer who got hired because he knew the right people.
@blondiepianist ...... ARE YOU FREAKING SERIOUS?!?! HAVE YOU /NOT/ LISTENED TO THE VDT SOUNDTRACK?!
Y'know what? How about we just ALL just stop talking about composers and focus on the music. It's not about who wrote what or who got hired for what reason or anything. It's the music, it's the story. Not the people who put it together.
Give Arnold a break, people! In all honesty, Gregson-Williams' score wouldn't have worked as well with Voyage of the Dawn Treader. It's an all new setting, for one- at sea, where the first two were in Narnia itself, and Susan and Peter are gone, for another. The old Narnia theme was more for the Pevensies- this is more central to the Dawn Treader. Besides, have you really listened to the soundtrack? It's freaking magical! So get over your precious composers and give credit where credit is due!!
I think that Aronld has made a good job with the composition of the soundtrack, but I think also that he too separated from Gregson-Williams job. But, if we well listen, we can see that there are the "reflexes" of the original theme. Hope you understood. I'm sorry for my non-perfect english, but I'm italian! =)
6:51 to 7:37 One of my favorite parts in the movie: where Eustace gets turned back into a human. I don't know what it was, but both the scene, and the music together make chills go down my spine!

Kinda makes me think Star Wars/Harry Potter/John Williams-ish in certain places. Not too bad though!

Even though soundtrack was great, it wasn't the same as when Gregson did it. But still, I have to say this piece is very Gregson-esque!

10:37 to end during the movie almost makes me cry. Right after he beats the serpent. The low strings just make it a great moment.
