I still have her album, "Meet Sue Thompson" and it's been played a zillion times. Thanks Sue, for all the enjoyment you have given us fans who love you!
a few years ago two parents went out to dinner.a few hours later, the babysitter was calling to see if she could cover up the clown statue in the kid's room, the father said"Get the kids out of the house,we'll call the police we don't have a clown statue"."the clown statue" was actually a killer that escaped from jail.if you don't post this on 10 videos tonight the clown will be in your bed at 3:00 am with a chainsaw in his hand. sorry don't want this to happen to me
Anyone know who the musicians are on this. Think this is Hollywood A-go go t.v. show. Band guys are killin' me...too cool! I would think this is about '63-'64 around in there. Sue Thompson is now about 87 years old. Unbelieveable! Wonder if she is still this cute?
Another Top 5 hit for Sue Thompson in January 1962. Sadly, this and Sad Movies would be her only big hits. Sue would not be the breakout act of the 1960's.
This is the song that made me fall in love with my Norman when I was 5 years old, (he was my brothers friend) but he was 10 and could care less... until I was older... married him 40 yrs ago this year! Love my Norman still!!!! MY LOVE
@mamaclucker That`s an incredible story, you were 5 & hewas 10 & that was 40 years ago in 1971, That means you`d of been no older than 9 wen you got married as this was a hit in 1964 I believe. If you were 45 in 1964 then you were 9 in 1971 which was 40 years ago today. Do the math...I did & your 49 yrs young now but 40 years ago you were 9 & this song was played as a top 40 song when u were 5 yrs old,. isn`t that right! You were 5 & you married 40 yrs ago in 1971 at 9 yrs old.WOW
@Ezdduf4kuZ , I think I meant to say I met Norman when I was 5 and he was 10. that would be crazy. thanks for bring that to my attention. it was great to hear the song again, but my Norman doesn't really like the song,LOL I was 16 when we married. actually I just turned 16, my parents really didn't like the idea but I was very persistent. we wanted to get married when I was 15 but they weren't hearing it. thanks Nora oh did I tell you my name was Nora LOL
@flomurdock I believe you've been listening to Justin Bieber far too often, & this is part & parcel the reason Justin has 400 million views on one video alone & it`s because people like you are obsessed with his baby voice & will tune him in often. Sue on the other hand sounds like Nancy Sinatra & Nancy sounds like Kate Perry....I sound like Marshall Mathers. Enjoy the Blizzard thats gonna be hitting your region next week, it'll be a dilly! Thx "fergarcam4postin this vibrant video
Where does one start to respond to a crazy comment like this? I've NEVER heard Justin Bieber nor do I ever intend to. He's absolutely irrelevant here. I was simply commenting on the irony of the fact that Sue's voice sounded extremely young, really about 12 or 13, and she was singing for a teenage audience, and no one suspected that she was in her 30s. She almost could have been our mother, yet she was sneaking down the ladder to elope!
Although I was only 9 years old at the time, I remember this tune!! My Brother Dave, was a high school senior, and played his radio while getting ready for school. I can remember lying in bed thinking... "She sounds like a cartoon!!" (I was in LOVE!)
I am totally infatuated with this single guy in the next town and his name is Norman. He doesn't know because for some reason I won't tell him. If only he knew.
@LadyOfMaine Hi LadyofMaine, This guy Norman who I am talking about lives in a town here in Massachusetts, in the next town over from me. Blessings, guinnevere100
@LadyOfMaine Hi again, wow, that is real funny and a coincidence that you are from MA, just like me. I live in Quincy and my Norman lives in Milton. You are so nice to tell me that you hope that my Norman notices me! You are a very sweet person. I am not sure where Indian Orchard is. I am curious now!! Beverly, MA is a place where I have been to because I spend a lot of time in Salem, MA and Beverly is right next to Salem. Have a great night!! Many Bright Blessings, guinnevere100
This is "Hollywood A-Go-Go", which is why The Gazzari Dancers, in the background, are go-go dancing. This appearance was several years after "Norman" had been a hit.
Sue Thompson performed at a supper club in Honolulu not long after the popularity of "Norman" and did a radio commercial for a used-car dealer, sung to the same music: "Diamond / The place to buy your ca-ah-ah-ah-ar / Diamond / Where all the bargains ah-ah-ah-ah-are / Diamond, Diamond Used Cars!"
@Lowryder56 Hey Norman - cool story!! I sat by the radio for hours as a little kid, just waiting for this song to come on...it reminded me of my Uncle Norman - HAH! :-)
My mom's old boyfriend made her a mixtape with a bunch of old songs on it and this was one of them. We used to sing all of these together when I was little. good stuff!
My sister hated this song! She was dating a guy with the same name and our father woul go around singing the chorus and it would really make her mad. from then on we all teased her. pjh
FYI, Sue is alive and well and lives in Pahrump, NV (me too). Pahrump is about 50 miles west of Las Vegas. Sue will occasionally do a show in Vegas as well as personal appearance at events here in Pahurmp.

This looks like a clip from Brittish TV. Any info? Love the contrasting piping on the drummer's jacket...very high style at the dawning of the Beatles era. Are the dancers in the background doing the "Pony" or the "Horse"? Great clip! Thanks for posting!
there was a hockey player back in the late fifties early sixtiesnamed norman that whenever the team came to new haven to play the blades the whole crowd would sing the song when he came out onto the ice.
I'm nearly 64 and this song was popular in the late 50's or early 60's when I was a very young teenager. I always loved it, and her voice sounded very young then.
She was thought to be 19 at this time (actually 39)... she never corrected their error. LOL! She did a great duets album with Don Everly of the Everly Brothers too!
I love this song! This type of song comes from a more innocent time, before the Kennedy assasination, the Vietnam War, and the rise of the 1960's counterculture. By the way, does anyone know the name of the dance those girls are doing at 1:17? It sort of reminds me of the way the Peanuts kids are dancing on "A Charlie Brown Christmas". LOL.

dodd69, my oldest son is 34 & loves this era music since it is all I played when he was small. Rather like how my parents played Hank Williams when I was little and I still love that OLD country music so much.

I can agree with dippa....this song was a hit for weeks and weeks. We had a guy in class named Norman and lots of girls had a crush on him. They would hum or sing Norman to him relentlessly-make him blush! As popular as this song was, I kinda considered it a girls tune-I preferred Sue's other hit- Hold the ladder steady-much perkier, great sax! What a fun and awesome time to be a teen-wow!
Bless You Tube! It is so fun! Does ANYONE out there remember that at the very end of the 45 record, if you turned it up loud, you would hear a male voice say "My name is Leonard." ????!!!!
Ok, this is my song ha ha. When I was in junoir high school the girls would always sing this song to me and at the time was embarassing. that was in 1961 and guess what for three weeks it was the number one hit. For the year it was the No. 3 song of the year. I have not listened to this song for at least 40 years. great to listen and Reminisce and laugh at a song that for a while made me embarassed..Love it now!!! thanks for posting it.
Hi Sue I know I should call you Mrs.Thomson but Mr. Jennings sais that I shouldnt call you like that and I think its cause you married but any way Mr.Jennings/"Chad" showed us this song and i thought it was a really cool song but any way i LOVE how you sing BYE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
When my twins were less than 2 years old, this was one of several songs their aunt plyed for them one time. The wife mentioned it, and I said I had a copy, went and got it, and played it for them.
From then on, for months, every time I stepped in the door after work, Jane would ambush me, and say, 'Could you put on 'Norman"?
I would, and Jane and Ed would dance to it.
Now, I'm going to play it at their 21st birthday party, in a few weeks.
@fiftiesflashback1953 His name is Norm Hitzges, and you can find him on SportsRadio 1310, The Ticket, weekdays, 10 to noon. Be warned. He has a fantasy baseball team. In other words, he's not entirely socially acclimatized.
