I fully agree! I just watched the movie here at home & if they wanted to do a remake of it that'd be stupid! If anything, they should do a sequal to it! For example its been about 25 yrs since they filmed Popeye and there was a part in the film when they recieved Sweet Pea that after 25yrs the real mother of Sweetpea will come back to get him. So there's something they could use for a sequal! They could use the original characters & cast aswell! Especially Robin Williams & Shelley Duvall!

It has a strange feel to it because the built this little town on a rock to create a world away from the real world. It's a good mix of the comic strip the early cartoons and a musical. There is nothing wrong with this movie. A remake these days would be a BAD movie guaranteed.

@bart11114: It's true to Segar's trip & the early Fleisher/Famous cartoons. The only reason it tanked was 'cause it was pitted against E.T. the Extra Terrestrial. Even one of the few live-action versions of a cartoon to get it 100% right couldn't touch Steven Speilberg in the 80s/90s as a director. E.T. & Jurassic Park saw to that.
