After thinking about it... The acrylic would have decreased the resonance coming from the drums... I reckon it's not a bad idea for recording. It's definitely different sounding, and it sounds pretty good if you ask me. The album sounds awesome... so who's complaining?

Really? All you people who are "hating" on this, you must be those people who like to stick to one tone of drums. Simple warm tones with lots of resonance. What this guy uses on this album sounds fantastic for what it does. It's different, and it's clearly meant to be. Do you really think Norma Jean would do something that sounds like crap? No.

same reason why guitar players record their albums with other guitars than with wich they play live. and same reason why in movies they make a sound similar to thunder instead of recording thunder

Sabian is the best cymbal company! Really like custom drum companies cymbal companies aren't really comparable because they sound a lot alike however take a sabian AAX crash and a zildjian a custom crash and hit them as hard as you can and I guarantee the sabian won't crash and the zildjian will most likey. Sabian has the best craftsmanship! I <3 them.

Daniel may be on a whole different level than MOST drummers, but Chris has a WAY better set than Daniel. Those HHX are top of the line Sabian (with the exception of Hand Hammered). I have the HHX groove hats and they are the best hi hats I have ever heard, I would put money on that!
