  • @tele757 once again stop telling me to watch a bunch of videos I've already seen and studied from. The you have to have lived the times and gone to the concerts to understand bit is BS, and once again proves you think your something special who feels exalted above the rest. If you where as good as you think you are you wouldn't need to argue about how great you are. Good day

  • @Jed844 lets make an analogy, Yi say 2 + 2 =5 say emphatically that is is 4. How am I conveying to you inthis example that I am above you.. I am just defending the truth. The best guitarist on the world convey to me that they consider me to be one of the best guitarist they have met or played with. I don;t look for it, but it just is Its not like I have a 9 inch or even a 7 inch penis man..

  • @Jed844 whatever get over this human beings are emphatic and passionate about a position only because they must because be suffering in insecurity, I said 1" the classic rock bands had more talent and btter material and played it better. 20 that caused a litany of "how could you say that" " bla bla bla 3) I said I know because I happen to be not good, but GREAT 4) imbeciles like you write me and think I am on a crusade to gain popularity, albeit anonymously on the internet

  • There's a difference between learning to play a song and learning to make it's feel and attitude come out. most only are satisfied with learning to play it not learning to feel it.

  • The fact is the music you are looking for will only exist in the seventies period. Because even if a new band meets your standards they will immediately be persecuted for trying to copy the greats.

  • @Jed844 false. any band that would be good will have lived thru the 70's or cam eof age oin the 80's and grew up as kids listening to the 60's and 70's. It would take that for anyone to do re-invemt rock. Rock can only be re-tooled and rein ventyed since its been all done before. Compare YEs, Rush, Van Halen to TBK. What made these band better is MUSICAL TALENT,andCOMPOSITION SKILLed. You could form a supergroup of the best musicians/session players -and the band would drop jaws live

  • @Jed844 no 20 to 30 year old will be good enough to tie all the loose ends and trailblaze in a way the artists of those decades did. You will have to be at it for that long to be as good as the greats (with no bad influences like90's grunge and 3 doors down crap) to be able to be at the levbel of a Hdndrix, Page. And you will have to be born "with it": Dan and Art were not meant to be musicians, they are no better than so many others who play semi-professionally to leisurely.in basement

  • what a waste, all these kids on youttube trying to play Keys songs. I hear them come into Guitar Center all the time, and its unbearable to hear them play guitar. They shouldlearn to first play Son House and Muddy Waters, Page, Hendrix and would actually be ahead of the pack in maybe doing something good for rock n roll. You will not get better learning TBK songs I assure you of that. Better yet, too many gtrist learn bass, drums, and keys there is a shortage of good ones

  • Iv

  • go listen to Sting me (song by Black Crowes ) try the youtube video of them on Leno playing this, also try High Head blues them on Letterman

Also listen to Albert Hall 1979 :were gonna groove' by Zep to hear REal musicians and decide for yourself

  • @tele757 see that's your problem you're automaticaly assuming i've never see one of Led Zeppelins greatest performances. i've heard sting me, as well as most oll of the black crowes stuff. why do you assume i didn't. you gotta take a couple steps off the high horse and realize how incredible stuck up you sound, you aren't preaching anything i haven't heard or seen already so stop tryin to act like everyon is inferior to you.

  • @Jed844 The main thing you have to understand is there are other people out there who understand music besides you. i guarantee you most of the fans of the black keys have heard and seen all the big led zeppelin performances. this is nothing new to us, come on, you might as well have told me to go watch stairway to heaven, the more you talk the more pretentious you sound.

  • @Jed844 how this for pretentious.how foolhardy is it to celebrate a band that plays mediocrity a style done so much better already, Why not just listen to the original. How is that friggin pretentious. To do otherwise is pretentious.. You are mired in hypocrisy my friend. This is unassailable d please do not avoid that truth and a rank out to all of you.

  • @Jed844 no the Music is inferior fuckhead not the people. This is not a review of You but areview of the band. YOU ARE NOT THE BAND YOU FREAK

  • @Jed844 you have to have lived that era and been to their concerts. Try watching how the wets was one, and watch YEs also and learn man. This is not even a debate Tjose musicians were as good as Jazz cats, and they were session players that recorded on all the famous groups stuff. They created a bigger buzz bigger than the keys could ever without the internet. TBK would not be famous in 60's, that is a fact.

  • @tele757 i don't even need to touch the baseball to music reference, that did itself in. You probably should to listen to more keys because all those things you listed they do do in their music. But it is possible to have good music without following those guidlines. Good Blues in theory doesn't always change key, tempo, or rhythm.

  • @Jed844 i have seen them live and listened to all their records., but hat wasnt necessary-because really talented musicans are consitent in their greatness,. This is apparently their best song, and it rips of Hendrix Manic Depression riff but in a dummified way. also the song is a big loop. All that is left is expensive vintage equipment, and i think the tone is what kids recognize as being legit, but thats it, Every song starts with a no do great riff, does nt vary it within the structure

  • @Jed844 without augmented variation form the same rifff ..you fail already as a artist with artistic vision and execution. Page made sure that every riff throughout the song is altered so many times its hard to play exactly what he is doing This adds to the psychosocial stimulus of the song. HAts iff Roys HArper evolves too Black Submarine doesnt Its a riiff eminiscent of Traffic 's John Barley corn melded to a 2nd electrified part played poorly. Bad to average is not great

  • @Jed844 good blues requires calling and answering. The 1st 2 are part of the same theme, the 3rd is a new idea, 4th riff is the resoultion The keys do not play blues, They dick around exploiting whats bbeen done before whxih is ok when done right

All this music has been done better already, most they can do is keeo the bar as high and reinvent it, which they ghave not done John Spncers blues Explosion and Dirtbombs blow these guys away. This is teen basement rock, Glee with fuzz

  • its a crime thatTBK are more successful monetarily than the Black Crowes. Chris Robisnon was coureted by Jimi Page and they played together: check out "Sick Again: here on youtube to see them live.Imagine Page let someone fill in for Plant and the band. Chris Robinmsonm has a Real earnestsoulful voice best in rock n roll, and Dan is a whiner who steals his vocasl nuances from Kurt Cobain and sound like crap without a vocal effects (Black Submarine) TBK are amateurs ,Black Crowres are Real DEal

  • i am not being a snob, and not getting off on all this. Its just disturbing the llack of ability for tru music appreciation. How about a moire modern band.ten to Southern Harmony by the black Cowes.. Try a song called "Bad luck blue eyes" also listen to the albuym Amorica buy the black Crowes. I put the Crowes up there with classic rock because it As good asnd was made in the 90's and 2000's. The crowes really have "it" and they were all new on their instruments when they started

  • its simple these guys dont have the tocuh and raw ability talent then all the even mediocre gusy from rocks hey day,. Having studied all these seminal albums and bein gable to play note for note on bass and guitar the lead breaks and rhythm for all these songs -over 500 classic rock songs I know a biut more than you. Also I attended these concerts in the 60's and 70's. So a young persons opinion is not relevant and driven by ego

  • i understand that you think rating art is always a matter of opinion. But that psychocial opinion is formed by subtle musical ideas and musical devices (changes in timing, melodic counterpoint, resolution, key changes). It is fact that bands ike Zep use them, and bands like the Keys really dont.Thisis why Zep is a critically acclaimed band, same with Stones and the weaving of KEif and Woods guitars. Some baseball batters have better numbers,is that an opinion? Beter players=more consistent material

  • who is better the bEatles , zep, floyd , Hendrix, Clapton or the black keys...who has more artistic vision talent, raw ability, and playing chops? Just answer the question, thanks

  • @tele757 character. Speaking as though you are inferior to everyone else. Take a step off the high horse for a minute because what the 70's music is about is not what you're preaching.

  • @tele757 I didn't say the stones are better u said I'm not comparing them. Comparing bands is like comparing songs, solos, or guitarist. It's all opinion. The fact that you think my opinion is irrelevant is in itself irrelevant because that is opinion not fact. The fact that you jumped to conclusions and immediatly started the insults basically saying I'm some kid whose got his head in the dirt and that I in some way have to earn the right to have my voice heard speaks volumes about your charac

  • @Jed844 whether a band utilizes these devices is easily observed: they either use a llittle of them or alot. and Stones use alot of them, that is not an opinion but a fact, Fill in my line of reasoning from there

TBK have chincey songs, boring riffs, the structure dowes not evlove, the arranement is lackkuster..so what are you left with...distorted guitars and a distoted voice on a loop..Nothingworse that bands playing rock like pussies, the heavy distortion and fuzz do not hide mediocraty

  • @tele757 "good music" it doesn't matter where or how the creative process happens. Saying otherwise is a complete lack of understanding musicianship. There is no correct way to create music, thus allowing more personality and creativity to shine through. I think the black keys are a great band, different but familiar, unique, raw, and soulful. Just what we need right now. If you don't think so why are you watching.

  • @Jed844 but this is not good music. So I dont think your opinion is relevant. What you think, has no bearin gon whether this is good or not. I xcan point you to MC%, War, Canned Heat, 10 years after...if course you dont know who this is. SO why dont you decide if this 5th generation garage rock played sort of poorly, and arranged poorly (but with good tone) is as good as what We have been enjoying for years. Decide on your won.Go to Albert Hall 1970 "were gonna Groove"byZepp start there

  • @Jed844 i am not watching, I am trying to give you alla dose of reality tro turn you on tot he REAl thing. Try listening to John Spencer Blues Explosion which is many moons better than this or the Dirtbombs. You are eating Mcdonalsds when prime steaks are avaliable... TBK are not a great band, you just a dumb kid who has not been exposed to better. Sometimes they are mediocre, other times like Lonely Boy they are terrible. Zep was never terrible, they were g-dlike

  • @Jed844 Those bands that evolbve and make better records , have the starting blocks of huge talent at bay. Anyone can come up with a good song or riff once in a while But to sustain that and be consistent it takes raw talent, and ears, and arranging skills. Bands today have neither.,Thisis why music has sucked for 25cyears.

When the individual talent is there-everything falls into place.Anyone can create music, some createmore lasting better reinventedstructures. Its all been done before

  • @tele757 I completely disagree with everything said there, your opinion is yours, but I gotta say they have "it" and there is nothing wrong with jamming in the basement making songs. By your logic you could then say "exile on main street" is not a good album simply because the creative process happened in Keith Richards basement jammin on material. When in reality it's up there as one of the greatest albums of all time. I'm not comparing the stones to black keys. Just using the standards for "g

  • @Jed844 they dont have it. Exile weas recoded in Necote because of tax problems in England at that time. It was not what they wanted to be a basment, it was what they had to work around. My point was that the Stones had undeniable talent and took in staright influences-Muddy Waters. DAn and Art is not a real musican is is a meddicocre player, that does not have the touch of all the greats and its pretty darn obvious as a manifestation of everythin gthey do.,

  • @Jed844 aswer this: what makes the Stones and Zepo as a group and individual musicans better that TBK? since you agreed that the keys are not better

  • 0:01 to 0:05 that almost sounds like the intro riff from "Lonely Boy"

  • lonley boy in the beginning?

  • Dope

  • so they were touring together with a keyboard and bass player? and it didn't work out? but they do that now again!

  • he's playin the lonely boy riff in the beginning of the video

  • cant wait too see theese cats in march.

  • You can hear the start of "lonely boy" at the beginning .

  • Damn, I wish they didn't pull out of the Big Day Out last year! I was so excited to see them :'(

  • I hear God, but see Jesus.

  • If you listen to the first 4 seconds of this video you will hear the first incarnations of Lonely Boy!!! Have a listen !!!

  • Comment removed

  • @AJHewitt75 holy shit! Dan must have had that riff in his head for a long time haha

  • @lsunationalchamps08 yea he ripped it write off from Hendrix Manic Depression except its eons lamer and Hendri was great

  • "most of their songs come form playing gin the basement" Yea these guys are not real deal musicians but basement tapers. They dont have the touch like the classic rock guys. I see kids at guitar center who are better. But the kids dont know any better, You would have had rto lived thu all those cool decades to know man

  • at 4:09 reveals that they are amateurs without the "it" factor. The real reason it did not work out playing witgh other musicans is that they really dont have it. Listen To Pete Townshend when he improvs in quiet parts, He is awesome every note is great. Dan on the other hand is lost, it was worse ha Syd Baarret who at least is interesting

  • Did anyone hear the intro to 'Lonely Boy' at the start? Hehe.

  • @HiThereImKester I was just about to post that!

  • Dan's tone is the best thing about this band. I mean that as a compliment.

I saw this on TV years ago and i still keep coming here to have my mind blown.

  • you guys are the last rockers. dont fucking die at 27 like the rest of the good aritists

  • @sirgreggins8824 They're already past 27, so you won't have to worry about that.

  • anybody hear lonely boy at the beginning?

  • @Abovepenquin Yeap, it's the same Riff

  • @Abovepenquin haha yup it is!

  • that little riff he plays at the begining sounds like their new song, lonely boy!

  • So amazing. I love it

  • 4:35 got the biggest erection i've ever had

  • Abbey Road has killed this track!!!!! totally drowned in reverb and muddy weak drums, I'm suprised they didn't stick loads of chorus on too. seems like that room hasn't been treated since the 70s. At least the album producer/mixer got it right.

  • Definitely lonely boy riff at the beginning.

  • the beginning sounds like lonely boy...?

  • Anyone else think this song is a metaphor for sex? Like he's done trying to please his woman, he's got his.

  • lonely boy preview in the beginning, 3 years early

  • @SublimeForever Holy shit! So true!

  • meraviglioso

  • Truly inspiring

  • i was considering shaving my beard today until i saw this video

  • That's right! YOU GOT YOURS. AND I GOT MINE TOO!!!!!!!!!!!

The Black Keys restore my faith in music and humanity.

  • ohhhhh i just creamed my knickers

  • A team

  • i love how Dan's singing voice and his talking voice sound nothing alike.

  • @Orpheus957 you just described what it means to sing

  • 3 people can eat a shit sandwich!

  • 3 people don't have theirs.

  • Thats what m taking abt real music REAL MUSIC \m/

  • Is it my impression, or 3 people have really chosen not to like this video?

It must have been a mistake.

  • The 3 people who disliked are the biggest losers ever...The Black Keys are AWESOME!!!!

  • Absolutely gut busting.

  • "It didn't get serious till we got a record deal." AWESOME.

  • @siamesehummer that's one of the keys to success. you need not to think about money, just do things you love!

  • @siamesehummer

Everyone says that. But, I do love these guys :)

  • The secret password is: PINEAPPLE

  • 3 people are not getting in !

  • @tele757 oh ur totally right I can't believe no one else can see it the right way... your way. After all there is no way you could be wrong. The world is wrong. You should probably run for president with ur profound insight that no one else gets. Hell u could even have Sarah Palin as ur VP.

  • Tele whatever ur stupid... Go listen to gaga. Jerk!!! Jealous muthasucka!!!

  • Think this is cool, check out 5ive. They have some great songs. Stockholm blues is a great song. Two piece band.

  • tele757, i think somebodys jealous ;)

  • They are the shit

  • they get such a full sound while only having one guitar, drums, and singer.....fucking awesome

  • I have been inside Abbey Road EMI studios up in St Johns Wood NW* City of Westminster

  • these guys with this beat song does not warrant Abbey Road. My opinion having seen all the rock hey day bands

-listen music is a personal thing, and people have different tastes. But the Keys have songs where every measure sounds the same. there are way better garage rave bump bands over the years who blow these guys away. What does it matter that it is contemporary. It fails to hold up the musical virtues of rocks hey day-hence it is sub par and a waste of time .

  • The ultimate love making song

  • lmao pat looks like he's trying to beat the shit out of those drums

  • wish my band was as good as them

  • @strokes8771 dude it aint that hard-these guys are just laying down simple shit and it aint that could -Inspire to do more

  • I love how he gets as much feedback and harmonics as possible from that guitar to fill in the sound. Who needs bass when you have talent?

  • I don't care what anyone says, this is one of those legendary iconic performances like The Who at Monterey Pop, Hendrix at Woodstock, Black Sabbath at Paris, Led Zeppelin at Madison Square Garden, the list goes on and on...

  • dan should of never cut his hair and beard!!!!!

  • dude the freaking sound that resonates from his guitar is so heavy. I really hope these guys can bring us back to the good rock n roll and blues from the yesterday

  • those 2 likes are very dislikable people

  • @mcswaggerty they cannot they are not that good

  • The Black Keys and The White Stripes need to tour together.

  • @Three1Bravo i'd be happy if The White Stripes would start touring again for starters

  • @Three1Bravo then we could see 2 average bands play together

  • the white stripes are good but they only real similarities i see is the rock DUO thing..... the lead singers voices are very different, the only song the white stripes has thats as bluesy as the keys are is death letter, and the black keys have more eleborate drum beats.. not that one is better, just more different than everyone here seems to think

  • @SRoessner31 Thank you, I am getting tired of these two bands being compared. I personally don't like the white stripes but they really are nothing alike...

  • I love the dynamics in this song !

  • @tele757 give up. people are going to listen to this regardless of your comments.

  • @tele757 Yeah... no one cares about your comments.

  • @tele757 if he sucks how do you know dan's name...

  • wtf have they done to that poor Marshall amp??

  • dan looks 15 years younger with that hobo bear off and a hair cut

  • "It's Blues Jim, but not as we know it..."

  • Dan needs to stop with the voice mask that makes his recorded voice sound different. He is sex live.

  • Anyone knows what kind of guitar he is playing? :) It has such a rich sound! Thanks :)

  • @streetgeezer the guitar brand is harmony i think. if that helps :)

  • i've heard too many people compare these guys to White Stripes. There is no comparison.....these guys are in their own class!

  • @WlSEGUY they both rock...but they do sound similar. garage blues rock...no bass. both rock

  • @frufrukurtjim well i dont see it. Stripes to me are more punk/goth and i definitely dont hear any blues in them. Dan's voice alone is blues, not to mention his riffs. Just my opinions, Stripes have a couple decent jams but i can listen to these guys all day. They dont sound/look anything alike. Ive said my peace.

  • @WlSEGUY you're kidding...goth? listen to ball and biscuit and tell me thats not blues. the majoruty of their songs are blues based

  • @frufrukurtjim i dont kid around when it comes to music

  • @WlSEGUY Jack White is like the epitome of blues. Listen to anything he talks about. He once said in Rolling Stone that all his music is blues based, and most of rock for that matter (a fact that stands true). Anyone that doesn't think the Stripes are blues is fucking insane.

  • @LuredoMarbery nah, i consider their music as punk/alt rock and their appearance as goth. They dont deserve to be compared to Dan and Pat.

  • @WlSEGUY Whether or not you think they are good, the White Stripes' music is definitely blues-based.

  • @khazad02 well i never said anything about them not being "blues-based"...they just dont sound bluesy to me. Its probably Jack's vocals that turned me off. He sounds punk and looks goth, awful combination.

  • @WlSEGUY I wouldn't say "don't deserve to be compared to." I am a diehard Stripes fan and without them, the Black Keys wouldn't be as known because the Stripes led the garage revival scene, opening up to the masses. The Keys contributed highly but the Stripes really led it. It's still going today, but you know what I mean. I love them both.

  • it's like rage against the machine but bluesier

  • @gatoradeee yeah i like this comparison man !

  • Two people need to be.....pooped on?

  • I was like #420 :)

  • Hold on while I put on some new pants.

  • Now this is music.

  • Put´s o som dos caras são perfeito...

    O dia inteiro escutando...

  • Pure, raw energy. If these guys were to play continuously in a power plant, we could ditch the nuclear reactor. Also, the plants' technical staff could spend their time playing airguitar and jumping around :)

  • Haha only two people disliked it! Guess there is some sanity out there :) these guys are fucking fantastic. my god.

  • jack white has nothing on dan technically and in terms of soul- he covers up for the lack of skill with pretentious pedal effects...dan has soul, solid skills and a great taste- he doesnt abuse the effects, uses them for a purpose+ jack white cannot, i repeat cannot sing- he so horribly off pitch live, croaks all the time and generally has no range whatsoever, whereas dan is just a natural...the only reason keys arent as well known, is cuz they are modest dudes who despise pretentious music!

  • @ssblv look dude, youre an idiot if you say jack white has no soul. i love both bands and i been listening to both for years, and ive noticed that they both have so much soul that they get from bluesy roots. the reason jack white started using alot of effects is because no one else is doing that. hes changed from his early stuff . dan is alot more old school than jack because theres a point when you want to change the way you play. ive changed my sound countless times just becuase i get bored.

  • @ssblv Lack of skill? That is quite a bold statement. Ridiculous, but bold.

  • @ssblv maaaaate you couldnt play guitar for as long as jack and not be good at it. think about it. he just doesnt feel the need to show all his skill

  • fuck me shitting, this is great music.

  • WELL MY GOODNESS. I LOVE THEM.

  • @alovelyjessture Attack and Release

  • which album is this off?

  • But I fkn love these guys, they're very inspiring! Jus feel the soul, alot of it in there

  • There shall be atleast one more band consisting of only two men which I will post on my tube.... I'm the drummer

  • simple. simple but great! simple. simple but not easy!

  • WOW its like every song they do is just as good as the next. these guys blow me away!!! hell yea!!!

  • Oh, and 2 people are angry because this song's so good, they went deaf from turning it up so loud.

  • The black Keys have a better drummer, but Jack White is a better guitar player and theyre better known, plus theyre reppin' detroit, where I'm from, but theyre both very good.

  • im a big white stripes fan, but these guys are better

  • mmaaaaaaaannn the sounds he makes if fat

anyone know the guitar he is playing in this?

  • @petethehungry i'm not sure of the make but i reckon the P90 pickups might be helping just a bit!

a lot of his sound is coming from the Fuzz+Amp combo

    he's used these fuzzes...

    Green Russian Big Muff

    Rehoused Jordan Bosstone

    Maestro MFZ-1

    Earthquaker Devices Hoof

    Fulltone Soul Bender

  • @petethehungry Its an old Harmony guitar

  • Gotta love that!

  • the black keys goofing around... they shit awesome

  • wish i could sing like that

  • I WANNNT HIS GUITARRR

  • Everytime I hear this song, my penis grows another inch.

  • @corvettez0910 : damn, if it were the same for me, mine would GIANTTTTTT !

  • @corvettez0910 Good thing that doesn't happen to me or i wouldn't be able to fit pants on anymore.

  • @corvettez0910 you should have listened to it many times xD

  • REAL MUSIC IS COMING BACK THANKS TO GUYS LIKE THIS!
