Any entrepreneur that ever thinks about giving up needs to watch this movie (it's on @netflix). They should show this in Business 101 classes. What to do/not do. Love these guys.
I've just watched this film on the BBC in England and I loved it even though I'm not a metal fan. Respect to the band for sticking to their belief's. It's strange though because I'd had heard of Anvil and always thought they were a pretty big band until I saw this film. Good luck fella's and keep on rockin!
They didn't make it, cause you can't make it in Canada, cause the Canadian music industry doesn't give a shit. Canadians have to leave Canada to make it and when you do, you come back some asshole sticks a mic in your face asking you about how great it is to be a successful Canadian Rocker, when the Canadian music industry did nothing at all for you. The Fans are what matter, fuck the rest.
I've seen this movie yesterday in a sneak preview. I am totally not into metal and the first two minutes I was not sure whether to stay or to go. but actually it was a great documentary. I really enjoyed it. Perfect story, very "round" story telling...
I saw this documentary this weekend and it is SO GOOD. I am so happy for their newfound success after working so hard all these years. They never sold out and they played true metal all this time!
Anvil is on the Tonight Show October 6 for their network television debut!!! I hope they sell a zillion records!!!!
Ive got to give it to rob & lips they have stayed true! This shows the real hardship of being in a band!I hope the movie isn,t a parody of the band, because they had the goods!"FORGED IN FIRE"their third album(my favorite) was world class metal for it's time! produce by Chris Tsangaridis Thin Lizzy,Tygers of Pantang,JUDAS PRIEST'S" PAINKILLER"!Hopefully this movie brings them some recognition for so many years of dedication!
Looks great, I can't really compare this to Iron Maiden's Flight 666 documentary as it up to this point is the best metal documentary I have seen. This one is more of a story about life.
I just watched this. Wonderful documentary and a wonderful story. Bless the Japanese for being some of the finest, most underrated metal heads of all time. They always come out in force.
Its amongst the shadows by some Von dillon bloke or something.
Absolutely awesome film, anyone that can be as dedicated as these guys deserve all they get. It makes you release how easy some of these manufactued bands get it these days.
It is a superb film about friendship!! Saw this movie through the Secret Cinema and it was followed by a surprise live set by Anvil. I was always a closet metalhead...I'm so out now!

March of the crabs is the shit!! If you hav'nt heard it check it out, they have alot of other kickass songs as well, but that was one of the songs that caught my attention. also Bushpig is a jam too!
I saw this film last night based on one thing - 98% on RottenTomatoes. NOTHING gets 98%! I'm not into Metal at all - nothing wrong with it - it's just not my music. But I loved this film. I know so many hard working musicians, and I know that talent, hard work and dedication just aren't enough - luck, and being in the right place at the right time have a huge amount to do with it as well.
I loved that the director was aware of Spinal Tap and had a few sly references (Hello Cleveland and 11).
I have the 1sr ANVIL LP still in it's cover. Back then I thought I was the only lucky and smartest Drummer to have an Anvil LP. No one Else did at that time!!!!!!
They have a lot of albums. Some really wicked stuff. Check it out on youtube. Hard 'N' Heavy, Metal On Metal, Forged In Fire, Backwaxed, Strength Of Steel, Pound For Pound, Past and Present-Live In Concert, Worth The Weight, Plugged In Permanent, Absolutely No Alternative,

Music From And Inspired By Anvil! The Story Of Anvil,
I remember these guys way back in like 1985.But i never heard their music. These guys deserve so much credit never giving up. I think we allstart out like that and slowly band members just give up and quit but this is truely for guys like me nd others who were left standing in the band when all others either quit or died. There is so much more to this movie than just a metal band,it's about having a passion for what you love to do and just doing it because, what else is there to do but that?
It's a GREAT movie, about a really genuine, hardworking bunch of guys that have a helluva lot more inspiration and guts than the vast majority of us. You come away from it really admiring what they do, even if it ain't your kind of music. A MUST SEE...if it's the last think you do. They'll be blowin' out the windows at the Academy Awards, I'm sure. I can't wait!
I'm no metal fan, but an old friend of mine loved this film and I've heard nothing but good things about it - I'm going to go see it tonight - good job boys!
That's great company to be in, thank you! Tell your friends to check us out, we are surviving on fan word of mouth. The "big" news guys have already moved on to new 'shiny things' and we want to keep on rocking for a loooong time!
i'm 45....i was there.......i remember....i still have my Metal On Metal album sitting about 3 feet from me right now under my desk with my other 200+ metal albums from back then......noone was thrashing like you guys back then, you were always a part of my personal "metal Compliation" cassette tapes i would carry around,my band never made it either, but i still play, never cut my hair, and i still havent given up either...its in your blood or it isnt, period, you guys are the real deal, always were!!

Anvil never went anywhere because they were never any good. They don't have one riff or song that touches Priest, Maiden or even Accept. Let's be honest here. They were and are nothing more than a "C" or "D"-level metal band. Just because you are true to your roots and never give up doesn't mean you're any good.
B freakin' S... Metal on Metal? Mothra? Forged in Fire? Trust me, when Priest was putting out crap like 'Parental Guidance' - these guys were putting out Backwaxed!
I saw this at the Trocadero in Philly this week. The movie was amazing, the live performance was amazing, the Q&A session was amazing. I can't say that I knew alot of Anvil before...but after seeing this and speaking to these guys...i sincerely admire thier dedication and positive attitudes toward life and music. These may be the "realest" people i've ever met....EVER. They should be held as an inspiration to everyone out there.
Sweet! Life imitating art - This Is Spinal Tap parodied this movie before this movie ever existed!
I used to work with a guy who's band open for Poison or Whitesnake or somebody up on Sault Ste. Marie (Ontario Canada) back in the day... I wonder how many stories there are like this one?
Hey if Ronnie James Dio can play Metal and tour past the age (67) when most of his peers are ready for rocking chairs, then why not Anvil achieving some success in when they are in their 50's. As the title of an AC/DC song from the 70's said "Its a Long Way to the Top (If you Want to Rock and Roll)" ; In Anvil's case 30+ years long.
I JUST heard these guys talked about on (and they were coming on) the Opie and Anthony radio show on XM. I HAVE to see this film. Also, SUPPORT THE BAND BY PURCHASING their new album dont illegally download it. Its about time they received some attention

Absolutely undeniable.
From age 14 to their 50's ... Lips & Robb Reiner pursuing their dream for over 36 years!
THIRTY-SIX YEARS!!!
I have nothing but the utmost respect for them. They didn't get their break when all the other bands in the 80's got theirs.
Maybe, they finally get their due. I tell ya what, it's probably a helluva lot sweeter in their 50's than it would be in their 20's.
You don't truly appreciate the summit ... unless you've worked your way up from the very bottom.

At the beginning of the clip, right after Slash speaks, what is the song that starts to play? The guitar riff is great.
