FYI.....actually the band did exist. The band was from England and its name was Yazoo. When trying to release in USA there was already a band by the name Yazoo so they had to release under the name Yaz in the USA market. I know this because I moved to the US in 1985 with my record collection and one of the albums was Upstairs at Eric’s by Yazoo and then I saw the same album here as Yaz.
