These notes just touch your very soul every time your listening to them. The music as well as Firefly itself is something truly unique. One of the best shows ever written. And remember: can't stop the signal! :D
oh yes don't we know about fox lets see they canceled this show alien nation after also one season could go on and both shows didn't just win awards they had the following necessary to make a hit...but unlike shows like M.A.S.H. that have an execs wife who makes her hubby take that chance nobody these days gives a good show a chance they kill it before it can be a hit...No wonder garbage fills the small screen these days just look at V and others...mediocrity is in.
This is (as was the rest of his score for this genius of a TV show) brilliant. Question for anyone who knows.. does anybody know why he wasn't the composer for the film (Serenity)? I'd really like to know (and would love to hear what he would do with it even now)
@voicetube David Newman was recommended by Universal to be the films composer, I can only presume that Greg Edmonson worked for someone else (Fox maybe?) and so wasn't availiable for the film, or not allowed to work on it perhaps. David Newman being employed by Universal seemed like the natural choice I guess.
@Browncoatt22 That makes sense; I thought it was something like that -- that said, I still think part of the magic of the show was the quality that GE brought to the table.
@voicetube Oh I agree, his music was the better of the two definatly, but perhaps better suited to episodic television series rather than films. Like what Christophe Beck did with the Buffy score, I don't think it would've worked in film, the same as I don't think this would've worked in Serenity. Just a shame they cancelled it to be honest, didn't know when they had a good thing I reckon, this could easily have been bigger than Buffy had Fox given it their time and appriciation.
I still can't get why they cancelled this, really this was one of a kind show that just had something very special and im afraid it will never repeat itself, and the music, god the music was really something, something that will never repeat itself, it can't this is just something so great that it does not get another chance, it's just there for people to see it once in their life and just remember how great it was and always look back to it.

This music is so damned pretty. I kinda hate it for that. Miss Firefly. Fox is full of fools to cancel it.

Knowing this piece was written not just for the death of Tracy, but the cancelation of the show breaks my heart. Thanks for posting this.

" When you can't walk, you crawl...and when you can't crawl...you find someone to carry you.. "
-Corp. Tracy
It was a beautiful thing that they did for Tracy. They never told his parents what he'd done...and for Kaylee to deliver the news was very moving.
I think for Mal and Zoe, this was just one more person that didn't really make it home from the war.
..And they carried him the rest of the way...

Listening to this as Kaylee walks through the falling snow to give Tracy's parents his final message, brings me to tears.
thank you for this post
