@stardustmypony You're right if he'd been lame before the test I should of pulled out. However he'd been sound for 6 months prior to the com having been brought slowly and sensibly back into work. This was his 3rd event of the year having shown no signs of lameness. He went lame 1/2 way through the test. I completed the test hoping the judge may shed some light on where she thought the lameness stemmed from, vets had failed, rest had not cured the problem. I withdrew from the competition.
@tylirthetiger Hi, he's doing good thanks. He's only doing flat work, I don't think I will every jump him again but he's staying sound. Just one blip earlier this month but I think it was unrelated. He's qualfied for BD regionals and been getting high 60's% at Ele level. Not bad for a horse vets said would never be able to compete again! We really just take each day as it comes.
Hi, How is Basil? Did you get to the bottom of his lameness? I have just watched your novice 26. I was very impressed. I have my first N26 at the weekend. i will very pleased if it goes as well as yours. Hope all is well with Basil. x
Hi, thanks for your comment. We did finally get to the bottom of his problem. He had to have an MRI and it showed a swelling in his medial collateral ligamement at the coffin bone in his off hind. An injury never seen before in a hind limb. Prognosis is not great, partly due to it being an unknown, but he's happily pootling about in the field in his £200 shoes!! Only time will tell. *fingers crossed*
Hi ya, yeah sorry it's his off hind that he's wrong on. It's just a case that he's soooo lame that his head is bobbing to. I just can't understand how the judge did not notice! Phoning the vet out tomorrow to try get a referral for him to got to Wormsley's and just find out what's wrong *fingers crossed*
Yeh i know, to me his head is what made it so obvious! Well at least you got an okay mark on your record, but that is pretty poor from a BE judge! Good luck with the vet!! :)
was he lame before the test? because if so you should have pulled out, he could have been in alot of of pain.

@caz230284 I'm glad you can ride him again, though! Lameness is a tough battle :/ He's a gorgeous horse, I hope he continues to stay sound for you!

I could be wrong, but it looks to me as if its more in his hind leg than front :S
