  • im soooo stupid. i never though about putting my arm on his head and pushing it away

  • Excellent lesson, many thanks, bro.

  • Vin Diesel!

  • I remember when I first did jujitsu and this move happened to me... it was too fast for me to even tap out.

I didn't get my arm broken, but it took at least seven months for it to fully heal... as in training without any problems.

  • when you spin you need to throw your right leg up his armpit to get him off balance also you grab his bicep with right arm and the wrist with your left arm :)

  • nice demonstration

  • i just started about 3 months ago...I LOVE IT!!!! My stripe test is actually coming up soon so these videos are helping me keep my memory straight. Thank you sooooooo much!

  • Better grab his tricep with the other arm and the arm thats free control his head. When you go for the armbar push the head away and throw the legs over.

  • in my camp they teach it differently. you trap their arm and you put their hands under your armpit and grab their forearm with your right arm. (im going for their right arm) and then you put your leg on their hips and as u can see when he does that , his right leg is just hanging there. We train it so that that right leg , you clamp it on their back so they have more pressure. cant escape if you have pressure on your back and the arm in my armpit pinning it down. and then its all you

  • Nice job explaining you didnt make it to complicated

  • @ .40 secs the top dude coulld kill him with an elbow!

  • For people who think jiu-jitsu is not street worthy are so wrong 90% of fights end up on the ground so what are you going to do when someones sitting on ur damn chest and punching u in the face? u better know some mount escapes and how to launch a good offense after that

  • As a novice BJJ student, I really enjoy these videos. Very straightforward and precise without being made too complex to understand. Good job.

  • i dont particularly like that armbar from guard, i prefer to hook the leg and do an armbar sweep

  • So what if ur opponent has his chin down??

  • jiujitsu will get your head kicked-off in a street fight

  • @chelsea4life11:

You're right. In a multifight, jiu-jitsu isn't a safe thing to do. It's more for one on one fighting.

  • @ogirv101 its ironic I talked about this last week m8...this past Saturday night, a fight broke out outside the bar and this guy tried to pull guard and ended up getting kicked in the head repeatedly....its good for certain situations especially one on one, but other than that idk

  • you didnt push his face ... thats important

  • lenmmo

i think you are the stupid one?

the dude is asking WHAT IF ....

Okey, before he locks it, you can probably punch him

    thats the answer right there

  • @hooah91 tht was me and ur still a pussy 4 tht

  • Agghhh now know what i've been doing wrong all these years. Never used to grab there elbow, just both hands on wrist and they would always pull out. Cant wait to try this out now.

  • @shmoriy are you sure about this post? are you sure you've ever taken a bjj class in your life?

  • @vanity81 Armbar from full guard is just one of those moves im not good at. I can do far more advanced stuff but just never been good with armbars. But does it make you feel better to try and talk crap on the internet? Not impressed.

  • @vanity81 I never bother going for armbars because its a low % move for me. I just do other stuff that works more for me, everyone has a move that their not good at no matter what. But does it feel good talking crap on a youtube video? and why are you watching this if your so good?

  • @shmoriy if your instructor never helped you with your armbars, and it was this video that made you able to perform them, i question both the competency of your instructor and the level of your training partners.

  • @vanity81 No, i just got into bad habbits and just kept doing it.

  • @hooah91

Hell yeah bro! About to go train!

  • hooah91 you are not a pussy, this is why martial arts was created, judo, Brazilian jiu jitsu, karate, taekwondo, becasue its for self defense, its for the weaker to successfully defend themeselves against the stronger attacker, you did the right thing bro, next time do me a favor and triangle choke his bitch ass.

  • Wow, there are a lot of stupied people here. A quick question, if you get locked into an armbar , how the hell are you going to punch the guy in the face.

Okey, before he locks it, you can probably punch him, but if he locks it, noway in hell you are gonna be able to punch him at the same time as your arm is being twisted.

And if you dont think it hurts, let an mma fighter or a BJJ fighter try it on you and you will se.

  • question?what if he punches you in the face with his left arm?

  • IDIOT. TOTAL RUBBISH. V V V V BAD EXAMPLE. . PAY NO ATTENTION TO THIS VIDEO, I'M HALF HIS WAIT AND HE WOULD LAST 2 SECONDS DOING THAT. V BAD. OH AND ARM BAR BREAK HIS ARM AHAHAHAH TWAT

  • so many holes in your game my friend...

  • @chrisbrunke GAME? STUPID VIDEO

  • @rugby2413 well it wasnt a street fight, it was some macho bullshit at a party but i would agree with you if its some street fight and you dont know who the dude is, you should not pull guard, that would be a stupid move

  • @hooah91 lol thats because bjj is like cheating, no1 wants to lose to an armbar. Well just becareful if you just let someone go, some people are just complete assholes and would attack you after you let go, or maybe they will just sucker punch you, i would say just break his fuckin arm.

  • @LiIdayne1232 So I guess judo is like cheating too then, huh? Martial arts is martial arts. If anything in a street fight, you should be saying "Krav maga" is cheating. Ont he streets it doesn't matter how you defend yourself, and if it's competition, then everybody has their strengths and weaknesses. Anybody could argue that any martial art is like cheating, but if that's true for all of them, then doesn't that mean that non of them are?

  • @LiIdayne1232 I say hold him there and hammer fist his face till he's all bloodied up haha

  • @LiIdayne1232 its not really like cheating, it just shows that you are incompetent on the ground thats it

  • @hooah91

ye its awesome, 99% of the ppl dont have a clue on how to fight on the ground, so even if youre slightly knowledged about it you have a big advantage

  • look at the guy s right arm mounted(he hide it as if it doesnt exist!? who let u do this?

  • @kirkoloft10 pretty sure thats his left arm...and their trying to teach you something so they let him do that...theyre not fighting

  • I caught someone in this on saturday, he tapped in a second at bjj class.

  • @hooah91 you did that on the concrete floor i think ju-jitsu is the most effective fight style in the world and i do boxing but it would'nt be very effective against multi attackers thats why boxing owns i love ju-jitsu i quit boxing now and hope to take it up

  • I think it's pretty important for you to emphasize in these videos that if you put the pressure on too quick and don't practice this first you can basically send someone to the hospital easily, f.x. if you thrust your hips up after you do this.

  • The problem with the way this guy shows it is that this is completely relying on the other person not trying to protect their arm at all, the way someone who has no clue about BJJ would. My professor at Gracie Barra just showed us this move last week and there was another step that makes it so they can't protect their arm, I think it was just putting your right leg over their neck so it's harder for them to grab their arm. Anyone who knows BJJ would just grab their right arm with their left.

  • Don Daly's videos are some of the best Expert Village videos.

  • I Love Jujitsu:D

  • @hooah91 sure you did that kid

  • @LeoLovesNature, its really not hard, anyone that actually takes bjj would know how easy it is to arm bar somebody that doesnt know it,

  • @hooah91 you are a wanna be

  • @LeoLovesNature alright, but im a purple belt wanna be so im ok with it

  • @LeoLovesNature Tough guy on YouTube. We're all in such awe of your amazing skills man.

  • @hooah91 I have no training and you'd be surprised how often, or how useful an arm bar is in any casual match. That may be the only Bjj move I can remember and it's come in useful more than once. So in conclusion, I agree with you.

  • ace vid thanks

  • i fell back on purpose in a fight just to do this fucking numb nuts told him he didnt want to fight me couldnt even get off the ground after

  • @hooah91 hell yah it is. very, veyr effective

  • that man did a good job of teaching.

  • i did it when a guy was calling me names and i sad stop and he sad what are u going to do? i sad break you he sad try he throws me on the ground and there i did the armbar he was begging me to let go lol!!

  • This is barberic only if you use this to attack people, but in martial arts (and not just BJJ) you are taught these moves and can use it to defend yourself as a last case scenerio if the guy continues to go after you.

I practice BJJ and enjoy it as a sport. I never enjoyed basketball or baseball, but BJJ/martial arts is competitive and helps you grow up in a more healthy way.

  • barbaric in what way? if you get attacked while you're walking alone, the best solution is being able to bring the conflict to a quick end.

That being said, the best conflict is always no conflict at all.

  • this is so barbaric

  • @ph33ric im sure u get asked this alot but how so?

  • hey man, are you a fighter for real ?

Do you upload videos ?, thanks

  • one thing here: Shouldn't you control his upper body a little more with your right leg? That way he could easily posture up and out of the armbar.

  • @antistyler yeah crossing the ankels or if your stefan struve ....figure 4? lol it helps

  • @antistyler

that's for defending on the street not for a cage...if ever have been in that move you wouldn't say that;)

  • @TheMcKtG Fortunately I've been in that move so many times that I now know how to defend it most of the time, even if he controls me with his leg on top of my back ;-)

  • this person (ufcsubmissionholder9) is ga_.

  • Comment removed

  • ufcsubmissionholder9 is a liar i know him, he never broke no one arm

  • Comment removed

  • 4 da mean time keep ur hands up!!!!!!!

  • @hooah91 If you're worried about your stand-up, incorporate a good/practical Japanese jujutsu class.. if your sensei runs his class right, you'll be prepared. Don't listen to these other BJJ nut-huggers, JJJ is wicked too.. I love both. But that's a cool story.. I saw a cocky 22 year old tae kwon do blackbelt/boxer, etc come into my school and get rear-naked choked by 90lb 13 year old kid.. I loved it.

  • thats awesome about the 13 yr old kid. I never tried Japanese jiu jitsu. But I have learned a litle BJJ and Judo with my Issin Ryu karate classes. (Judo mostly for the throws)

  • @SynysterGoodnights there is nop such thing as japanese jiu jitsu your probably thinking of jujutsu or the style BJJ was based off of which is judo

  • it would work better if you underhook the leg so it will help u spin and once u have ur leg over his head u can lift his leg that u have underhooked and he will fall into the full armbar position which is what every mma fighter wants

  • All these techniques from Expert Village might pretty well work in a BJJ fight, but not in MMA let alone a street fight. That's a whole different sort of BJJ...

  • @RonMeijers Dude idk what your thinking of.... but the majority of these expert village moves are used a lot in MMA... this move for example is a VERY common submission... look at Silvia vs. Mir... and if you are good enough these can be used in a street fight... ive used them in both.

  • @RonMeijers

You're kinda out of your mind there Ron. I used to get into heaps of street fights (unfortunately) and my grappling training came in massively useful. I never studied Judo or one of its derivates (like BJJ) but I knew a couple submissions from friends who did Judo, and whenever the fights got onto the ground, as I find streetfights do, (not as often with me since I studied standing grappling) I'd often eventually position myself for a choke, which ends the fight.

  • Does this actually break the arm?

  • One of two things. If you bend the elbow straight up, it will dislocate. If you bend it to the side, it will break. Only however, if you keep going, even after he taps.

  • it does if you want it to... it depends on how hard you pull.... Look up Tim Silvia vs. Frank Mir... You can see Silvia's arm break about a minute into the fight.

  • watching these videos only help so much better to learn from 1st hand experiance, jst started doing mma , cant get the hang of the ground stuff being a boxer, any tips would be appreciated?

  • how bad this videos is u never put ur leg in the floor.... thats wrong

  • are you stupid?? Dude, before you spin your body for the Armbar your leg has to either be on their hip or on the ground. Otherwise how the fuck are you gonna spin and get him in an Armbar??

  • your suppose to wear a cup

  • Well, you CAN, but you don't HAVE to...

  • i gotta rough time with the armbar, i always end up crushing my balls with their arm...

  • you have to squeeze your legs together really hard so that his arm doesnt land in your crotch

  • lmfao thats funny cuz its true everytime i have a submission match with friends there elbow always impales my balls.

  • LOL

  • Got the same problem :D

  • Wheres the fulcrum? Does he use his body to cradle the arm at the elbow, or his other hand? I mean where is the break pressure coming from i cant see so claerly on the vid.

  • if your attacking the opponents right arm, your suppose to reach across with your right hand and go over his right arm and grab his tricep and then go on top of his wrist with your left hand. your left hand could also grab behind the neck to help prevent him from posturing up but the key to that is to make sure you clamp down with your right leg high on his back and then clear your left leg over his head. feet to the ground, hips to the ceiling making sure you squeeze your knees together.

  • Do you hold onto the tricep with your left hand (or whatever side) even after your swing your leg over his head, or do you move it back down to secure the wrist?

  • So is BJJ another way to translate submission

  • bjj is just a way to short brazilian jiu jitsu

  • I just arm barred myself

  • Good job on that. Society thinks bigger is always better. From my experience its the small, quick guys I tend to worry about. Its more like fighting myself rather than someone slow and uncoordinated. Im just now learning bjj, but after training in 8 years of shorin ryu I can tell you size makes NO difference in any style. a cracked rib or a popped knee speaks the same agony in everyones body ; )

  • fuck yea man,i hate people like that, this big dude that said he had been doing bjj for 4 years and alwais wanted to fight me so finally i agreed, this dude is 90kg(200 pound) and im only 70kg(160 pound), i took this guy down in the first 30 seconds and locked him up. And after that his pride was shattered. thats the power of bjj

  • hes my teacher brother

  • how did you get him to the ground?

  • i jumped on him while he was standing and pulled guard while pulling down his head so he fell forward into my guard, kinda risky really cuz if he didnt fall forward i just look like a idiot trying to hump some guy haha

  • that's the point, it's better to have someone give up the fight before you have to break their arm. It's a win win situation -- the dude learned his lesson, and you win the fight.

  • great story make me proud to train

  • this guy is great! good teacher

  • i actually pulled this on a guy during a fight at a party lol dude had no idea what had just happened, he just kept calling me a pussy even after he started crying i give up let me go lol jiujitsu is fucking awesome!

  • you pussy you did this move i dont know about lol did you break his arm at least?

  • who is a good teacher then?

  • LOL everyone check out this guy's comments...all know-it-all negative shit. Probably some fat ass out of work wanna be.

  • veryyy nice ,this teacher is really veryyyyyyy good

  • i agree... step by step and very clear :]

    indeed veryyyyy good ^^

  • this move is actually very effective. the instructor needs to put more focus on the right leg clamping down higher on the back of the opponent. by doing so this helps prevent the opponent from posturing up and freeing the arm. the left leg pushes of the hip of the opponent which allows for the person performing the move to swing there hips and clamp down high on the opponents back with there right leg.

  • is all jiu jitsu about is grappling and throwing?!

  • Works like a charm on people who know nothig about Jiu Jitsu

  • yea dustan831 is right this is really esay to counter or get out of. Cause it might be an oppurtunity for the attacker or whoevers trying to do the submission but the guy could just stand up get his arm free and possibly a leg lock or ankle lock . So this submission is not very effective and he didnt flip him on his back which would have made it more effective

  • nice thanks

  • no once he goes to the side and tries to get that leg over, the dude is gonna see it and focus on getting his head outa the way. i guess it would really depend on how fast the armbar is attempted cause yes if its slow then you can focus on other things

  • if you use your hand to push your opponent's head it means that you are no longer holding his arm trapped so he can pool it out...

  • Well you still are holding it. Only with one hand instead of two. And you do have one of your legs across his back. You should be using that to hold the opponent down.

Remember that you have to get good and tight in the armpit too.

Also that outside leg (near his head) should be coming around to the back of the neck pretty quickly to sink in the position.

Also It is just a momentary part of the technique, it happens pretty fast.

  • You guys are a bunch of nerds pretending to know about jiu jitsu.

  • hehe my favorite.

  • one thing he missed is that you have to be balenced on your back well. as in not to flat on your lower or to high on ur upper back otherwise they can back out or stand up and stack u :) id know lol

  • this is showing you how to do the armbar most ppl wont just let you armbar them right? u gotta distract them and set up your move dont be so honest and just try for the arm bar distract them first then do it quickly....also if you bring up your other (not the one u push from) high up on his upper back he will be trapped so that helps keep him low...dunno if u get what i mean...

  • kk... I just started BJJ... at 55 seconds... when your holding the other guys arm... what exactly keeps the other guy low enough to get your leg over... wouldnt they just posture up... so you couldnt get your leg over?

  • cuz u got his arm so he can't really move his torso up

  • oo ok... but when u grab the arm, unhook your guard... and bring the first leg up... what exactly stops the other guy from using the non trapped arm... to post on the stumach of the other guy... and sitting using that to prevent the armbar... sorry bout my questions... but these are all questions from the little personal experiance i got.

  • im not too much experienced but i would just say do it fast

  • if you do it fast enough the guy will have no idea wtf to do and when he realizes his arm will be broken hopefully if you do it right

  • if you keep his forearm held tight to your chest (from his wrist to elbow) correctly he wont have the leverage to posture up on you.

And If he (in the video) had kept applying pressure with the back of his thighs as if he wanted to sit up he would have rolled his opponent onto his back. which would have left him in a better position to get back to his feet in the event of his opponent resisting the armbar.

  • Yes he can posture up, But the purpose of putting the hand on his face is the turning with you and put him off on the posturing up. Just be quick! Then he wont posture up cause it will brake his arm lol

  • when he pulls the arm down he cant get his body up and then he swings over

  • He cant posture up if you keep his arms close to you, even if he straightens his legs and tries to get his body up you can still flick your leg over and get the armbar

  • ok but what usually happens when I try to do it is... I get him in a closed gaurd with his arm trapped... when I open my gaurd and start to turn he just flattens his arm pulls back and gets out

  • If you're training with gi's you can use the hand that is on his tricep and grab the gi. That way even if his arm straightens you still have grip, rather than just hooking behind the elbow (which only has grip if the arm is bent)

  • PART I

Around the 13 second mark when Don (the guy on the bottom) traps the arm with just his hands.

Is this the point you are speaking about when your opponent escapes his arm?

At around 30 seconds Don (on bottom) shows to put his left foot on the hip or the ground.

I have been taught to keep my foot on the hip and bring my leg tight behind the opponents arm. This will really hold the arm in place.

At this point the right leg should have come up the back tight into the opponents arm pit.

  • PART II

Use your left foot to push off the opponents hip

    Stay tight to your opponent.

    Don't over look this point.

Use your right leg on the opponents back to hold him down.

At this point you can ever use a hand to push the opponents head down and out of the way while you bring your left leg across the back of the opponents neck.

Try to really get the back of your knee over the back of his neck.

    Do not cross your feet.

Now bring your heels to your bum to tighten the lock.

  • its in between 35 and 40 seconds that they always get away... or sometimes... i will actually get to the point where i have his arm (with both legs over his head) but what will happen is they will just stand up and yank their arm out...

  • The move is done slow so you dont see the fluid momentum taking place. As you hip out and kick your right leg to the left you are pushing his body to your left which brings his head down some, enough for you to put your left leg around his neck.

  • The guy should keep his knees closer, and make a much tighter armbar from guard...

  • is this guy a blue belt? it shows in his teaching!!! and he wahses his belt that is why it is so faded ,I see by that he has no idea of why we NEVER wash A BELT who taught him???

  • Well. in tradition, but come on ... time changes, let's wash it for sanitational reasons. And what so big deal about belt? its all about your jiujitsu and your heart.

  • do you have a black belt in anything?

  • well I am 2nd dan in taekwondo. If you are asking me about this whole belt system, it was created in Judo to honor and cheer hard work they done. F

  • blue belts teach all the time...it takes about a year 2 get your blue belt then maybe another year or 2 sumtimes even 3 (if your a slow learner) 2 get passed your blue belt

  • why are you telling me about how long it takes for someone to get a higher belt and how low belts teach all the time, I clearly see this guy is a brand new and should not be teaching about jiu jitsu

  • please note that its not gonna be this easy in a real match...

  • thanks ^^ great vid

  • I been training approx 7 years jiu jitsu philadelphia area, I watched a few videos that you have shown and I wanted to say very good basic moves. Thanks

    don't forget the def

  • Thanks for this post.

  • i hate posers...i actually do practice and this is not an "instructional video" this is just because people bandwagon this stuff so they can get publicity. If you try this without training you will hurt yourself or someone else because you screw it up.

  • Putting your foot on the ground isn't that good..you should keep the foot on the hip and your knees tight against the body to help prevent him from moving his arm.

  • Fedor could do an armbar in any position =D

  • Ive been training in MMA for around six months. All these types of vids are superb for making your own style out of them. Some things work better for different people. More the better. Cheers for the uploads

  • So i was just at a BJJ class a few days ago and learned this move, and wow the stuff on the net is really good, obviously you won't be a black belt using the net. But beats paying 120 dollars a month

  • you can not learn BJJ on the internet, you have to wrestle to get better, But this stuff here on youtube is really good to try on practices.

  • everybodys a critic

  • Haha, and everyone "practices MMA" as well. Easy to be tough on the net...

  • Even though everybody does it technically different (like how he didn't emphasize keeping tight to the body with his knees) this helped because for a big guy like me, putting the foot on the ground and inching it over is a much better solution. Thanks!

  • what excercyze can i do to make my legs stronger for this type of armbar?

  • Wide Squats, leg lifts, jumping in place from a squat position and running or walking with high knee lifts.

  • U shuldnt really need 2 make ur legs stronger. The guy wuld have 2 have arms like tree trunks b4 your hips arnt strong enough 2 break the weak elbow joint

  • what do you recommend then?
