I'm not a big fan of part 5. It doesn't feel the same, like it doesn't fit in right with the other songs. Is this actually part 5? Anyways. I think Shing02 and Dj Okawari should get together. Dj Okawari and Nujades have something in good in commen in their hearts.
@Tek869 It's because this "part 5" isn't produced by Nujabes. Personally I can't consider it part of the luv sic series for this reason, but it's still a good beat.
@mrsolodowlow doubt it cuz it sounds nothing like his style and if you look at the top of the guitar in the video it says "by Jumpster, Shing02, and DJ Icewater" nothing about Nujabes.
@JBHero12 Indeed, Jumper is the producer, DJ Icewater made the scratches (as usual) and SHing 02 is the emcee. If you go on the e22.com website (Shing 02 official) you'll learn more about this song and the whole luv (sic) songs. But you're right, though it's not bad it's just not as Nujabes as it should be &-(
@JBHero12 Well, that I'm aware of it's Nujabes who made the beat, check out on hydeout-tribe. net which is the official website of Hydeout Prod., the late Nujabes' label. It's been 1 and 1/2 year but still his music resonates in the heart of hip-hop lovers and it'll live on forever...
I discovered Nujabes in movie on you tube, i dont remember movie but i remember Luv (sic) part 2... it was about month ago and 5 mins ago i discovered he is dead... Why the greatest musicans must die?
@simplybasic10 what counts is his epic lyricism and poetry. The dude's primary tongue is Japanese for most of his life. To speak so eloquently in English .. even with an accent.. is just beyond talent.
@eatmyshitpl0x Actually, Shingo grew up all over the place, Tanzania, England, US. Moved to Oakland at age 15 and studied art in Berkley. What's attractive about his lyrical skills is his ability to blend conceptual lyricism common in Japanese works and apply it in English. English is really straightforward as a language, so when he lays down his lines in an indirect, implicative fashion it really makes you think. Of course, he's also noted as one of the few bilingual rappers too.
The darker vibe for this one was not only for the loss of Nujabes, but because the first luv(sic) trilogy focused on love, whereas whereas 4, 5, and 6 are supposed to focus on loss. A great beat and a deep song.
The other mixes are still dope, but they're just too soft, melodic, and peaceful. You know what makes this one still the best one? It gives off this circus-like feeling of how it shouldn't be taken seriously, like it was a dream, but S02 lyrics keeps the whole context in reality.
You don't want to believe they're really dead and gone, but then again, you want to believe they're gone physically, but still living spiritually.
@DQ15 That's why this one is still my fav no matter how many people diss on it. I lost a friend about 8 months ago in a car accident. It's one thing to be sad losing Nujabes in a car accident, but it's a whole different sadness when it's someone you're always next to, talking to, some who you knew personally.
This beat, the voice sample, it's the only mix that has been able to capture that anger, pain, regret, memories, DENIAL/disbelief, acceptance...that feeling of life goes on, good or bad.
One Mona Lisa. One sistine chapel. One eiffel tower. FIVE LUV SICS?!?!?! Nujabes, now that you've died do you realize how popular you'll get? That just ain't fair...
SHING02 IS AWESOME YAHOOOOOOOO all i listen to now is shing02 and eminem when it comes to rap/ hiphop music wise i luv nujabes, nomak, shingo suzuki i'm proud of being half japanese
"The better half of this song was written in January of 2010, then I finished it over the course of this year while touring and traveling. When I initially planned for another trilogy, part4 was going to be about first love, 5 about parting, and 6 about reuniting. As it turns out, 5 is about the ultimate parting, it’s very somber but it resonates with me deeply. This track goes out to everybody who’s lost anybody close."
The intro is a sample from a Rod McKuen album: The Gentle Touch of Rod McKuen by Rod McKuen pp. 8,9 SOMETHING BEYOND (You Moved To Turn Off The Light) Part - I What could I say after it was done? What could I say to you crouched in a little heap - crying as though the only thing you had to give away was gone now There are no words but it was love
It's been a whole year now... man. I discovered Nujabes' music a few months before he passed away and I can't even describe how it makes me feel. No doubt it's music for the soul.
I mentioned in another video that I had finally found the meaning of the Luv(sic) trilogy, after listening to it consistently over a year. "The beat plus the melody's the recipe." The perfect blend of music and words is harmonious and personified as the ultimate human emotion: love.
@denzelnolet ayee man my story is somewhat similar to yours, but i found out about him in about late 09 he was and still is a great producer may his music live on
I'm really feelin the song, but it doesn't feel like luv sic anymore. With strings and guitar and some xylophone in there somewhere it doesn't have the same feel of the very light, high-in-the-sky feeling of the piano friven previous luv sics. Still amazing though.
its not that this song isnt as good as the other luv sics, its just that it doesnt quite stay true to the original vibe that only nujabes could provide.
@Blackzila3000 Exactly. It's still good, but I feel it doesn't compliment the emotion of the words well enough. Still good and the piano parts give a really deep/mysterious vibe. The xylophone-sounding instruments detract from the sadness, though.
I like it but i really miss nujabes soo much .... talent like that doesnt come by very often , rip nujabes and shing02 keep spreading the word , luv sic forever !
@NamisNinja you're right, there is no respect here for nujabes' fine fine luv sic series. let his protegé, uyama hiroto, deal with bringing the body of jun seba's unfinished work to completion and keep these unrelated cats from steppin all over his name. this doesn't even sound inspired by nujabes in the least.
i think the thing about part 4 is that theres a version with emi meyer, and there's a version with a male singer, and they both sound phenomenal, i'd like both.
