Irish - not South African. He sounds like his father - although I think his father might have been a baritone. We grew up with Cantor Gluck Senior - lovely man, lovely voice. So sad about Jonny, whom I remember as a young man. Fantastic technique
I was at school with Jonnie Gluck (Z"l) in Dublin, Ireland, but knew him from the time he was a choirboy of about 9 in the Adelaide Road Shul, Dublin, where his father was the Chazzan. He had a wonderful voice. I saw him a short while before he passed on. I knew the entire family, incuding Nathan, who was not born though when we lived in Dublin. I still can't believe he's gone. Nathan, please won';t you send it to Judy and the girls, and Gaby. Jonnie reminds me so much of your Dad (Z"l)
It was my privilege to sing a concert with Johnny (just before he was diagnosed); he was a wonderful person to work with, as well as a unique talent. I wish he were still singing, in *this* world. I'm glad this video is here, but he was even more impressive in person.
Fantastic voice and talent johnny was....His control and range is incrediable and with these videos now on youtube should be recognised as one of the greatest Chazzanim!!

I just discovered this cantor and I've been listening to all his posts. I agree with slexster, he is one of the best chazzonim.
