Great video, do you know if they sell Everlast welders in the u.k? Or if they ever will sell them here? I want one. Thanks for the upload, best welding video's on u-tube.
I watched the vid over again and answered my own question I asked previously. You used DC+.... I don't know how I missed that the first time. Maybe it's because I watch the videos on a small iPhone... Hard to hear sometimes! Great video!!!!!
hi i just bought a 160 amp arc welder but it says i need to attach it to a 30 amp spur could i just put a normal 13amp plug on the end or do i have to install a new spur ?
Jody, first i must say i bought one of your shirts when they first came out. I had so many comments from the aircraft mechanics at work when i wear it. I hope they bought some to support your enterprise. You're a true educational resource!!! About the vid: okay, you're using 7018. Did you use AC or DC rev? Also, did you preheat the rods by chance? Thank you.
Jody I've be practicing Stick Welding but still not quite their yet. I'm pretty good with the Tig but not stick. When arc welding, do you keep the rod in the molten metal or just above it? If it's above, what is the best way to regulate the distance and keep it constant? I just want to get better with arc as it is another skill I'd like to master.
very cool, i'm currently taking a few welding classes, when i'm there i'll ask the teacher for help, if his advice doesn't work, i watch your videos and surprise the teacher the next day!
Dear Sir, I just want you to know you speak and teach the lesson so well that when I click on your videos I end up watching them from beginning to end with full attention. Your an excellent teacher is what I am saying, thankyou sir.
Jody I am not a stick welder at all so could you explain what puddle details we should be looking at to run a good bead? Sorry if this is basic stick welding 101.
@RobRichmondRPG there are all kinds of things to watch for, but the main thing is arc length. thats the distance between the tip of the rod and the molten puddle. keep it short. the rod is getting shorter as it burns so the tendency is for the arc to always be getting longer. if you keep it tight an set the amperage hot enough that it wont stick with a tight arc, you are halfway home. the puddle should have an oval shape and look the same for the whole bead.. rod angle and speed also matter
Really enjoy your videos. Its also nice to see all the state-of-the-art equipment. It would be nice to see what you could do with the POS equipment I have to work with.
i just received I tig finger works awsome. Thanks for taking the time to make videos with your help i have been geting some welding jobs in-house at the plant I work making the boss very happy and getting plenty of overtime for myself.Keep up the good work.
Hey, I been welding on and off for 40 years and i got to tell you, I learn something new in just about every single one of your videos ,its also good to see the new technology as well as the old tricks , done by someone who knows his stuff and above all is good at explaining , and knows how to get the good videoshots too
Great closeups of the puddle! Good info on the tacking locations and why. How are the Everlast welding machines holding up? Do you like their performance?
thank you , that helped me a lot cause I can never (NEVER) get my tubing level. Either I pull too much or not enough but oh well, practice practice practice...
DUDE i wanna LEARN TO WELD LIKE THIS!! UR GREAT!!!

ivegot one question. why does eeryone stress clean metal so much? ive run welds through oil before and still passed the destructive test

Added this to my favorites because of the showing how to "square" the tubing against the flange, really beats strying to cut it off square

I like the finger to thumb steady technique.
Once the base is tacked, does it matter in which order you then run the rest of the weld beads?
Oh, and I really enjoy your videos BTW. Not only do you know your stuff, but you can explain it well. Just wish you worked in metric ;-)

Great to see more stick welding! Nice shots of the puddle too. How much drag angle are you using?
Richardsmusic 1 year ago
@Richardsmusic , I am using a lot more drag angle than I need. You cant see it, but there is a camera in my way.
normally, I wouldn't use that much angle, but it goes to show how forgiving stick welding can be.

I just bought a PowerArc 200. I love stick welding.

why can stick welding weld over rust and other contamination without porosity while mig can't ?
is it just because of the special flux on stick welding rods ?
can flux core mig weld on crap like that as good as stick welding ?
shodanxx 1 year ago
@shodanxx , Its the flux. Flux core mig does not have as much flux and might work ok but not as good as stick.
At least thats my take on it.
