have you ever tried laying the color down and then blending it with the white on top?? thats what i do but i am self taught so i dunno the proper techniques?? anyhow i like to do a light layer of color and then smear/blend it with white! then i can spread the color to different areas...that way
Wow, this is...awesome! For the fur did you just do little flicks of the pencil? And would you suggest anything for longer hair? When I'm trying to make long hair, I tend to go a little screwy and the lines don't look uniform. Do you have any tips? Thanks!
I like to use arches watercolor paper hot press with an smooth texture for my drawings, wonderful for blending colors, I don use prismacolors though I use verythin brand for detail.
Wow, EXCELLENT information. I use Prismacolour pencils too, and never new that I could blend them with isoprophyl alcohol or to use white as a base colour. Amazing!!! You are an excellent artist by the way. Thank you for sharing your techniques with us!!!
I have tried using the markers and either I don't know how to use them properly or they just don't have the range that the pencils do. I guess I am just going to keep with the pencils. This is what I have used for the past 22 years and I am comfortable with them. Keep experimenting with them, try using both.
can you explain what watercolor or regular prisma colors are? the differences? also are markers better or color pencils cuz im tryin to save money so i just wanna get 1. thanks for teaching me how to blend!
I'm not sure what the watercolor pencils are made of. I will look into that and get back with you. Prismacolor pencils are a blend of oil and wax which is why you can thin them with rubber cement thinner or isoprophol alcohol.
I got a colored pencil blender at Michael's that looks like a double-ended marker. Works like a marker blender, except it's for colored pencil. I'll try your technique too! Thanks.
I have used these in the past. You can also use isoprophyl alcohol and a Q-tip to blend the colors. It males the colored pencil look like a watercolor wash.
Thanks! Im a manga artist, well still an amatuer, but I have been drawing for about 4 years. I have been using Crayola for 1 year, and I think I'm ready. This will help a lot! Thanks!
Of course! Use whatever you like or are used to. I don't know very much about Crayola pencils, but I'm sure they are a wax based pencil and that will allow you to blend them.
I only use Prisma Color pencils. Yes I think they are the best. They dont leave any kind of dusty residue. I have tried others. I've also tried oil and acrylic paints. Way to messy!
