acbxman I remember spider, saw them in Blackpool at the Tache Club in the 80's walked home to Preston after the gig cos i lost my train ticket HAPPY DAYS.
Yea the only time I saw these guys was when they supported Hawkwind at Romeo & Juliets in Doncaster 1980, Anyone remener Spider? saw them at Sheff city hall supporting Gillan!
I bought this record when it was released and saw them live twice in 1981, at Port Talbot and Port Vale, respectively. I have the 'If I were King' single somewhere too.
I remember watching these years ago as the support act to Hawkwind at the Hull city hall, never heard of them before that but loved them then and i still listen to them now.
singer was called steve zodiac- b side situation negative is even better than this - someone please post and make a 44 year old fifteen again !!!!!!!!!!!!!
My fave track from back in the day,.. i was 14 and sweated Patchouli oil !!
Saw Vardis in many of the smaller clubs round Notts such as the boat club and the mardi Gras. Steve Zodiacs trick of putting Talcum powder in his hair before coming on stage and letting fly was always interesting when you were down the front,... happy happy days !!!
i still have this on double pack single!! why has their live album 100mpjh not had a cd release!! its criminal!! i have both albums(worlds insane the other) on logo records if im correct...will someone get the masters and sort it out!! come on i see 'tank' are even gettin the cd treatment.
Saw them in Port Talbot June 1981; they were amazing; ditto the sprint (before the encores) for the last train home; memory lane never seems to change very much.
Thank you mate for posting this. Still have the 100mph Lp!! Wasn't in the UK when the NWOBHM happened and was just a bit too young as well. But how I wish I could turn back time. The golden years of Heavy Metal without a doubt.
The first gig I ever went to was Vardis at Stroud Leisure Centre in 1981 when I was 14. I couldn't believe how loud they were! They were supported by a band called 720. Whatever happened to them?
Very underrated band.Had the vinyl albums and all the double pack 7" singles back in the day. Still listen to "100MPH",to this day.

I saw Vardis supporthed by 720 too, even bought their (to be fair average) single 45 mph, less than half as good as Vardis' 100 mph, obvious innit

This song owns, as do many of Vardis' songs. I just got my hands on an original copy of Quo Vardis on LP today, and it's awesome!
