I don't think Ron Paul got a smackdown. Gingrich's "prevention" approach may sound great but Ron Paul is right. Once you start to erode our liberties, invade our privacy, make every word, every phone call, every communication, everything we do subject to being watched, by the inevitable conclusion of the Patriot Act (think Orwell, to a minor degree at least)... Once you start down that slippery slope we become a nation where freedom is worse than a joke--freedom becomes a thing of the past.

We haven't been using those methods to combat white-collar crimes for decades, at least not illegally. You either believe in the 4th Amendment completely and enforce it or believe you can pervert the 4th Amendment in time of crisis. I believe in the 4th Amendment and not the Patriot Act.
