Okay this stupid comment thing bashed my awesome explanation. Hope you understand me, i'm swedish so i'm doing my best :-)
Anyway. The legs are 2 straight bars, attached to the ladder. the springs and the "Pull thingy" aren't they putting a lot of strain on the lower bar?
Putting a bar or something in the middle of the 2 bars connected to the ladderleg would make some of the pressure move up to the bar above aswell? I might be wrong tho, im on some skinny ice here really, to me it's logic tho.
Not that i know anything in particular regarding building stuff, but my logical sense tells me, shouldn't it be a benefit to put like a straight bar/pipe at the middle of each leg?

Something like that? Since the springs are putting tension on the lower bar, chances are it will bend? And welding a small aluminum pipe, would that make it sort of a fail safe for the legs to bend? I think you already considered that tho
uhh... I have no good answer. I wasn't really paying attention. I guess I have those songs in my ipod, and they were probably playing in alphabetical order.
Ya... there are about a million things I could easily do.... and would like to. Unfortunately there's only one of me. ....and if I did tham all it would take several thousand years. :-P
for curving, "double-t" beams are double as strng as round ones, for torsion the "double t" is the weakest, (10 times weaker thn round) you could take a square one - its 20% stronger then round shape for curving and only 10% weaker for torsion
I'm not sure and I can't find anything about it online, but I think I-beams may be stronger and more durable than tubes. Then again where are you gonna get I-beams.
Nice work! You might have already thought of this, but you might want to consider side to side flextion of the legs when the robot is walking forward. If the leg flexes too much, the cables will probably pop off the escentric pulleys. Maybe you can make some cable guides... or find a way to limit how much the legs can flex. If things are strong enough, you might be able to eliminate the cables all together.
Anyway... hope that is more helpful than annoying.
Well... I did think of that, believe it or not. ....and the legs don't flex much at all. It operates without the cables and springs, but it can handle more weight with them...
I ment north america is one continent (and has about 2 - 3 countries depending if you count greenland) and south america is another continent and that one has lots of countries. I've read that america sometimes are refered to as a dubble continent.
haha he claims he is a Canadian like he is taking the highground.. i hate to break it to you jamie.. but you've been naturalized.. you live in VT and work at shaws. that means that you are an american now..just like pablo from mexico
I'm from sweden and in my sight of view, Canadians like the forest/hunting and such. While Americans sit on Mc Donalds and eat hamburgers all day. That tells me jamie is Canadian!
Jaimie was totally in my dream last night. People were building this really tall/long wall and he was slotting stone blocks into place (for some reason the wall wasn't getting built row by row)
What does this mean? I spend too much time on Youtube.
can you explain the 'rabbit ear' (6:30) mechanism sticking out of the top please.
I understand how the legs work from your little spider robot.... but I don't understand the 'rabbit ear' part. I'm guessing it drives the legs... but how?
Thanks
Looking good!! Can't wait until this thing walks :-D

why don't you use that chain lifting thingy to move the robot around? you could easily make a little mobile crane.

I can get I-beams... or make 'em. The ladder sides are basically I-beams.
They're not strong enough, though. ....easy to twist.

what thickness can your welder weld aluminum?

reliably 1/8'' ...but... I've been cheating.

Ach, I can't spell bannanna and apparently neither can spell checker.
Keep up the good work!
