It took me 1 hour to finish this mission,but I don't complain,I prefer going toe to toe rather than sneaking around,this is war after all,I have a good tactic,the 2 beacons from the north are easy to take,but the others are heavily guarded,I used a dozen of lurkers,hidralisks and some overlords and I started taking taking those outposts one by one,it works trust,but you need to watch out when defending the base.

I think most speed runs of PC games are recorded by the full version of FRAPS. You need to pay for it though.

I've never used recording software, but there should be more information about it on speeddemosarchive (linked to in the description).

You need a detector unit (the word "Detector" will be under their name on the display, in yellow letters) within sight range of the cloaked unit.

For the Zerg, Overlords and Spore Colonies are detectors.

i did it following his strat in 10 minutes. I got to the bridge without being hit. My hydras were dead because zealots attacked my base and killed them, so i had to rush duran through the bridge with lings. He got hit so i had a lot of down time. This guy is an expert so i dont think he cheated at all.

ok i`ve finished ALL starcraft original and starcraft expansion set a.k.a. brood war all missions and i have to say the zerg`s were the heaviest but i could pass this one it`s not real, i mean i`ve tried all tactics... i even manage to whipe-out the brown one from their nexus and probes, but it still had a lot of m. and g. to build forces... in other words its impossible but i will try one more time, filming it also and show u all where it will go wrong... wics me luck!!!!

The runner says in his comments that he tried many times. It probably took him nearly 100 attempts to finish the run using that strategy.

look, this mission can`t be completed without a large group of zergs to defend he base and another force to distract the protoss units while duran goes to each beacons, and here the base has not been atack by any protoss, and in the mission at exactly 1:34. 3dragoons and 7 dark templar already assault on the small base..... so i say that this guy has another easier version or he did something to the game that i cant or don`t know to explain

Once again, the runner is very well-known and respected in the speed running community. He is, I'd even say, a celebrity. If you read his comments, he says the strategy requires a lot of luck. You probably failed to force the AI to defend itself by attacking. That's why you got attacked first.

@cyberneticdex69 While that is indeed a visual bug it does not prove the game is pirated by any stretch. I mean... FFS I even get that bug and I bought the game. This is caused by running the game with Windows newer than '95/'98. There is NO consistent way around this.

Also... neat speedrun. Didn't think he'd make it through the cannon gauntlet :P

dude, there is something wrong there.. in the field there are dark templars and they could slay duran easily once they `ve spotted him so he must use the 'consume' skill to kill a zergling for mana so he can stay stealth but the are observers on the map so its imposible so SNKEAK ALL 5 BEACONS!!!!

pro master my ss... this dude cheated... he had a program to modify scenarios, scripts, triggers, units properties...it`s impossible to finish that in less than 5min. it takes more than 15min to gather resources enough to build a force to buy duran some time to sneak into the beacons... the man cheated!!!!!!!!!!

All of the missions are available for download in the link in the description. Also, watching a speed run probably won't help you finish the mission, since the strategies they use are often difficult to pull off.
