@omgtristan223 If there is no "cheat" box right before you start the ROM, then that might be caused from no game ID, wrong version game to codes, corrupt file, missing file or you may need to re-create the cheats.

@omgtristan223 I would suggest to recreate the codes and the game cheats on your computer, also try a new ROM while making sure its the right version of cheats for the right game version. ex: Mario Kart DS (J)(MODE7)(226E8DB6).rar you can only use japan's AR codes for it.

@ThePokefan38 double check to see if the AR codes got saved for all of them, and there might be two "Cheat" boxes when your hovering over the game, you'll want the one on the right if thats the case.

CHEAT.dat isn't a necessary file, you mostly live off the usrcheat.dat but if you do want it back the best way is off your mini cd that your R4 came with, only the usrcheat.dat is available off the official r4ds site.

for some strange reason I deleted some cheats and saved my changes, but those cheats are still on the r4 card when I start the game!! now even when I input cheats, they dont show up....any ideas?

There are 2 cheat data bases, CHEAT.dat and USRCHEAT.dat, they both show up when selecting a game only the usrcheat.dat you'll have to click on it on your R4 because the cheat.dat you can push (Y), Another reason: Go back into the editor and look and see if the RA codes saved under the cheats that don't show up.

Try copying the usrcheat.dat file onto your desktop or somewhere off your Micro SD card, and do you get any error's when you open it up in the cheat editor?

Nope, Action Replay doesn't modify the gave saves, i would just suggest keeping a back up of your save files in-case you break your SD card in half.

double check some things:

•using usrcheat.dat for adding cheats not CHEAT.dat

•Cheats are Enabled (its a check box when selecting cheats)

•realtime is off (sometimes causes problems don't know why)

•the AR codes were saved and are there when you look at them in the editor.

Take a look at its properties, under attributes "ready only" might be selected causing it to pop up.

rar is a type of compressed file, so all you need is a simple program to open it up like WinRAR

download that and you'll be good.

Make sure you have the correct game ID, and there is also a "disable game" check box that you should look at on the R4 cheat selection.

If you happened to delete the file you can just get your mini cd that came with your R4 and there will be another usrcheat.dat file.

Every time you change a code on you computer it will disable to cheats on the R4,

In the middle of the screen on your DS there will be a check box saying weather or not to disable or enable cheats, click on that and they'll be available.

Make sure you have version 1.01 cheat editor,

try getting a new usrcheat.dat file

look at your autoplay settings on your computer.

It could be that the the codes are not being saved when entered or that they are written wrong, otherwise make sure that they are there and the code has been saved.

To obtain the _system_ folder you can goto the R4 website and download the Kernel 1.18 (any version will do) in there will be the _system_ folder. You can get it off of the CD your r4 came with but that will be the lowest upgraded one.

You can use the CHEAT.DAT, but its crashed sometimes on me so i would recommend using the usrcheat.dat which can be found on the mini CD that came with your R4. You can also create your own with the cheatcode editor, just make sure if you do you save it with the correct name.

well, if you said that you did every thing the exact same way then the only possibility was that it went corrupt. download a new usrcheat.dat file and try it again then send me a message.

If they are correct you will probably need to get a new _DS_MENU which can be found in any R4 kernel update on there web site. so try that, if it doesn't work send me a message.

If the cheat.dat file has the same game on it there will be 2 places to choose cheats from, the press Y one, (cheat.dat) and the other one to the right, you have to press (usrcheat.dat)

if not, look to make sure the game ID is right along with if you have any codes for it.

Pop in your CD that came with your R4 in there there is a folder called Cheat code editor in there will be your usrcheat.dat file.

That means that the usercheat.dat file has gone currept and you will need download a new file, try that. If that doesn't work try reinstalling the cheatcode editor.
