When OReilly comes on, I switch to Fox BUSINESS News and watch Judge Andrew Napolitano on "Freedom Watch." I get the news of the day and learn about the Constitution! What a deal!
Thank you so much for posting this! It's awesome to see what FOX decided to edit out so O'Reilly didn't look like as big of an idiot. Thank you sooooo much! =)
Stoned slackers who like Obama? My wife is an RN. I'm a firefighter. Neither of us are fans of Obama. We voted third party. We barely see each other with our work schedules and when we can see each other we take great pleasure in enjoying Stewart's satirical presentation of the current state of affairs in our nation. For the record neither of us have done, currently do, or will ever do drugs. Keep your slanderous remarks in check, O'Reilly. Concern yourself more with facts.
I don't think the editing was that bad. Jon kicks his ass the whole time, so it didn't mattered much. I expected it to be worse. I am just impressed that the two are willing to engage one another. Compared to Glen Beck that O'Reily Factor is freaking Shakespeare! It is a scary world we live in.
"Am I supposed to just let that go?..." I'm so glad Jon pointed that out. Because that's basically the only way o reilly wins, he mutters some stupid remark under his breath and his opponent is forced to let it go and "move on." He's a bumpkin in a suit, nothing more.
if they really wanted to make the interview shorter then they would have cut some QUESTIONS and answers, not half of jon's answers. that's so ridiculous
thankies for sharing, really good job on finding this out :)
First, the questions O'Reilly asks are meant to be difficult for Stewart. If he were to simply ask him questions that wouldn't test Stewart's viewpoints what would be the point in asking him any questions? Second, we haven't avoided anything yet. A great depression is basically an extended recession, and we aren't out of our recession.
i dont know of anything good obama has done, unless he made a good sandwich or something.. with the exception of ron paul minded people, the country is on the path to destruction
@longfootbuddy 1. avoided a second great depression by the vast majority of economists estimates
I know you are sooo right, he should have accomplished more in his first 2 years than preventing 20% unemployment and turning around one of the greatest crashes in the quickest periods of time with nearly a year now of private sector rebound growth. What did the conservatives give us for the last 8 years but 2 failed wars, and help blowing up the massive housing bubble which got us into this mess
@durhamdf you all can bounce back and forth between republicans and democrats, but your just building a great beast that will do all it can to keep us serving it.. you may think your solving problems, but your just making things worse
Jon Stewart is brilliant. In order to allow himself the platform to say the things about fox he wants to, he blows up Bill's ego because he KNOWS that doing so will give him the foot in the door to dole out some serious reality.
at 8:05 , what was the point of airing just a segment of Jon Stewart laughing slightly maniacally ? lol , Fox is trying to make Jon seem like a stoner slacker lol
I think all of the edits are completely justified: showing the later part of a statement as it's being clarified; overlapping speech which is repeated later; or, as with that long segment after the middle, just narrowing the topic of discussion. Neither Stewart or O'Reilly are cast in any different light because of the edits.
Lol as part of his audience, he can say whatever he wants and I can respect that, even if he turns on the President. I don't watch his show because he says what i want him to say.
Wow, O'Reilly is SUCH a dick. Jon is twice the person I am, cuz' I would have reached over there and socked him in the fucking jaw if he got all condescending and rude to me like that!
wow these edits are most definitely questionable. It airs when O'reilly is asking the questions and when Stewart starts talking its cut and in the middle of his sentences it just airs. So when put together it sounds like hes not really saying much anything interesting. They completely cut out his good segments. Oh boy fair and balanced my ass.
Oh the irony....the irony. Everywhere all over the net, I run into ignorant assholes who repeat O'Riellly's exact words like he is their god. Same with Beck's audience
As a devoted libertarian, I'm as eager as anyone to talk about how terrible Fox and O'Reilly are, but to be fair, I don't really see anything very questionable here.
The cut from 6:08-6:17 was maybe a little iffy, but other than that they mostly just seemed like reasonable time reductions.
I caught this when it aired, I thought Stewart was brilliant. I think he went on this show to get his opinion heard, honestly, would MSNBC have been as receptive to his opinion? It went better than the "Tucker Carlson, at least Im not a dick on my show" interview (another great TV moment). If anything Oreilly tries to make everyone look like an asshole to hide what a dumbass he is. Seriously, who picks a new word everyday and uses it in a sentence, does anyone remember that movie "The Program?"
other than jon stewart's crack about the repubs having a supermajority of 41 being unaired, overall the editing was ok. Bill O'reilly's loaded questions and passive agressiveness however, are enough to give anyone a headache.
No its because Foxnews is the media arm of the GOP, they do not report the news, they regurgitate information from a GOP angle.
Why is it that the 2 main news conservative news outlets are foreign owned yet conservatives don't care about it?
You would think people against globalization and Nafta would be concerned they are being spoon fed news by Rupert Murdoch, a man who is a true globalist in his actions and in the past has suppressed free speech to expand in China.
The edits seems fair enough and I'm an "ACLU card carrying left wing nutball." Editors have a tough job to squeeze 10+ minutes into a 7 minute slot something has to go. Bill is a douchebag though just for the record :)
Fox has never been fair. The world laughs at Fox "News". They are never taken seriously outside the United States. In fact, they are rarely quoted and mostly ignored, unless of course it has something to do with Sarah Palin. Sarah Palin is dangerous, she would fuck the world up beyond recognition.
This is pure hoax. They should be investigated and charged.
Why do you have party-press over there? Don't think its usual in Europe, certainly not here in Norway, it was banned in the late 1800's. What is less democratic than party-press? The press should be neutral. This bullshit only create hatred.
If there is an axis of evil it's right there at fox news.
Wow from like 9:30 to the end of the think bill got really butthurt about Jon basically laughing at him to his face lol thats just ignorance at its finest.
O'Reily is such a douche bag, those have to be the most loaded questions ever. This was a pure hack-job by O'Reily and is on the verge on slander. He takes every oppurtunity to try and take Stewart down a peg or two, luckily Stewart is a hell of a lot smarter then O'Reily and dodges his traps skillfully. The editing of this was horrendous, i don't know how anyone can think it wasn't intentionally cut in order to portray a certain perspective... fair and balanced bullshit!!!
These two are exactly the same. A Joke. The only difference is John Stewart knows it and embraces it, where as O'reilly pretends he's delivering "Fair and Balanced News."
Fox is horrible. They would air Stewart mid-sentence and if u watch it like that, what he is saying gets completely misconstrued. Fair and Balanced my ass
Billo is a massive douchebag. Either that or he's trying to be funny, and his attempts at sarcasm fall way short. The thing he doesn't understand, is that Jon Stewart can match him on his speciality (political commentary) but Bill can't do the funny. Not even slightly.
It's obvious he was trying to get a rise out of Stewart...those loaded questions, followed by the "Are you suprised anyone takes you seriously?" question...I'm surprised anyone takes O'Reilly seriously to be honest...They are both entertainers who use their opinions to make our lives seem less bleak, and thank Jon Stewart for that, but let the right-winger religious conservatives have their version...it's all good, until he makes jabs at the audience...it's too easy to make jabs at Oreilly's...
"You know, that's a pretty smart analysis. You know, a lot of people don't think you're smart..."
Yeah, right, Bill. You can disagree with what Jon Stewart says all you want. You can call his audience a bunch of stoned slackers if you like.
But for YOU to give that Fox "some say" crap about Stewart not being smart is just ludicrous. It's like a jockey going up to an NBA center, and saying, "You know, a lot of people don't think you're tall"
The only thing more sad than the fact that Faux news does what they do, is the fact that people actually buy into, and support their bullshit. Wake the Fuck up America!! Those are the kind of people that are killing our WORLD, not just our country!
Bring them down, REAL AMERICANS START REVOLUTIONS...
Bill O'Reilly is the biggest dickwad ever. And he's one of those utterly stupid people that truly believes that he's intelligent and innovative and aware. It's actually just sad.
Actually I think that sentence would be grammatically correct in England, where they can and do say things like "my bank are awful".
But of course the source of this information (which I believe to be Stephen Pinker's The Language Instinct) has escaped my memory and I could be wrong.
As for the video itself, I honestly believe that "Fox News" is essentialy becoming the reincarment of the communist party controlled newspaper "pravda" and other media outlets that existed in the former soviet union, that reguraly manipulated or erased facts in order for reality to follow along the ideological lines of the head party, or in our case, the Republican party/conservative right...
You had me from the second my ears have recognized the sweet sweet Infected Mushrrom vibes :)... not to mention that you're the first "Yank" I know that is aware of their existence.
The idea that the earth is only 6000 years old has high ratings amount Americans too. Doesn't make it true. I want the Daily Show to me critical of Obama when he fucks up. Unlike Fox where Predisdent Obama sneezes and that's turned into some socialist/terrorist plot.
Thanks for the effort C0ct0pusPrime.(4:35) "...What will assume power in washington are lobbyists and special interests", the whole comment took less than 5 seconds. That didn't save very much time at all.
They seem to do the edits such that they are undetectable. I was shocked at where some of them were.
You have to admit, though, seeing as how they have to fit this in to a time slot, this wasn't all that bad. They posted the full interview on their website, and O'reilly did tell his Audience where they could find it. They did make some crappy decisions on what to edit out, and It was kinda cheap that they ended the first part of the interview with Bill calling Jon "out of his mind" and then when they pick up for the second part they conveniently left out Jon's rebuttal to that.
I think they post it online unedited in an attempt to look fair; but at the same time know that most of their viewers (probably older non-computer literate ppl) aren't going to see it.
Jon Stewart is far more intelligent than most people give him credit for. However, it would take a bunch of editors to dumb down his comments on O'Reilly's show. Not surprising. Stewart still comes off better than O'Reilly if you really wants to compare. If one agrees with O'Reilly, everything is ok. If you disagree with O'Reilly, the guy gets pissy. And Jon makes the nice comment about how high ratings shouldn't matter. The content of the show should. O'Reilly is a dickless loudmouthed fool.
Sometimes ratings are nice though, I have 40 full high definition videos of my pet pug and the most views I have on any clip is 38 views. So I have stopped uploading. Ain't worth the effort.
My point is ratings are quite important, but not everything.
That's fine, I understand that. But it's different when people like Beck, O'Reilly or Hannity keeps shouting, "I have high ratings. Beat that!" Or if people point out that people like O'Reily have bigger ratings than Obermann does. Having high ratings doesn't mean any of these people are right. They just only care bout raitings over honest, truthful material.
Wow, I never realized how much fox chopped interviews to slant the message. Fox should not be permitted to air without a warning, "The following may not be based on fact. Viewer discretion is advised."
I'm 24 and lived in the suburbs all my life, I haven't touched a joint since middle school and I still think Jon Stewart is is a better pun-dent and news casters then most of these shmucks in mainstream 'Merica.
oh goodness, I know that this is going on, but seeing it like this makes me so sad. You're doing a great job here C0ct0pus. If you and liberalviewer would put your efforts together we would have a strong, angry, factual, and well researched case against media bias.
This is an utter disgrace and not only that but against broadcasting regulations here.
We insist that media broadcasts are actually fair and balanced and we have a body that looks at programming and makes sure it is.
If a British television company had done this then they would be spanked so hard by public opinion and the regulator that O'Reilly would be under massive pressure to resign.
This is the very reason I get my news from the API news wire and by reading newspapers from all over the world. And Faux News is only the most egregious example. All newspapers slant the news by only telling part of the story. I find this a fault... they have the rest of the story and could provide it, but the context of a story and the aftermath matter as much as the story itself!
If you watched the edited interview that aired without the unaired portions it actually DOES make it appear as if he hard a harder time answering along with cutting short his answers. Stewart still wins because overall his points were better than Bill's; but if you don't think Fox put to use some clever editing you're in denial.
@aunicornist remember how o'reilly said that most people think stewart is stupid, well this is how they get their viewers to think so, but cutting the clips, making his answers short and making it look like he struggles with answering the questions.
nice of u to take the time to put the cam infront of the tv to make history on utube

Bill O'Reilly is the biggest dickwad ever. And he's one of those utterly stupid people that truly believes that he's intelligent and innovative and aware. It's actually just sad.

@PerhapsMaybe I don't know I think Beck is probably the worst of them all. Him or Michelle Malkin, but shes too small a player to count I think.

"He's pulled off the trick of being taken seriously when he wants and frivolously when he wants"
WHAT?! Jon Stewart is a comedian with the ability to allow others to easily judge whether he is making a joke? HOW COULD THAT BE POSSIBLE! ?

Heh! Yep. Bill-O is pompous. Doesn't preclude him from being right, more often than not...

Fox are cunts.
Grammatically that sentence was fucked up, but I think I got my point across
DwayneJKing 2 years ago 2

I was shocked at where some of them were.
mstraney 2 years ago 2
You have to admit, though, seeing as how they have to fit this in to a time slot, this wasn't all that bad. They posted the full interview on their website, and O'reilly did tell his Audience where they could find it. They did make some crappy decisions on what to edit out, and It was kinda cheap that they ended the first part of the interview with Bill calling Jon "out of his mind" and then when they pick up for the second part they conveniently left out Jon's rebuttal to that.
Bandaids4ever 2 years ago
@Bandaids4ever
I think they post it online unedited in an attempt to look fair; but at the same time know that most of their viewers (probably older non-computer literate ppl) aren't going to see it.
fatkat444 2 years ago 3
Yeah, that's probably true. I must admit, that sounds like a realistic point considering who we're dealing with.
Bandaids4ever 2 years ago
Fox also only ever goes live for like 2 minutes max so nothing acctualy gets said and if you try you're going to get shouted down.

Some of the editing was fair enough for tightening up the interview.
A lot of it did seem to be context changing though.

Lucien, it is legal in the USA for a news broadcaster to deliberately lie to their audience.

O'Reilly is a dickless loudmouthed fool.
mortalhellion 2 years ago 6
Sometimes ratings are nice though, I have 40 full high definition videos of my pet pug and the most views I have on any clip is 38 views. So I have stopped uploading. Ain't worth the effort.
My point is ratings are quite important, but not everything.
MypugMiles 2 years ago
I bet c0ctopus would stop uploading too if hjs view count was 38.
MypugMiles 2 years ago
That's fine, I understand that. But it's different when people like Beck, O'Reilly or Hannity keeps shouting, "I have high ratings. Beat that!" Or if people point out that people like O'Reily have bigger ratings than Obermann does. Having high ratings doesn't mean any of these people are right. They just only care bout raitings over honest, truthful material.
mortalhellion 2 years ago 3
He's not a fool. He knows EXACTLY what he's doing. And that makes it worse.

how did you get the unaired footage and why isn't anyone holding O'Reilly's feet to the fire?

Fascinating view into the minds of propagandists at work. O'Reilly would have no chance if the playing field were leveled.
KremeDeMentia 2 years ago
Wow, I never realized how much fox chopped interviews to slant the message. Fox should not be permitted to air without a warning, "The following may not be based on fact. Viewer discretion is advised."
darktoadthesticky 2 years ago 5
It's called "editing-out" of context.
But the message is the same!
Propaganda is number one when it comes to politics.

oh goodness, I know that this is going on, but seeing it like this makes me so sad. You're doing a great job here C0ct0pus. If you and liberalviewer would put your efforts together we would have a strong, angry, factual, and well researched case against media bias.
TheLittleDonkey 2 years ago
